Summary: Hannibal - Tamed at Last
Review: So it seems all Dr. Lechter really needed all this time was alittle fun. I must say I was amazed at the ending. However, it has done more to make me think about this book and the psychology behind the characters than a traditional; ending would have. Unbelievable? Yes. Entertaining? Yes

Summary: Better then Lambs? Hmmm..Not quite.
Review: Nevertheless, this was a very very good read. The last 100 pages will cause you to take an extended lunch period at work.

I enjoyed the pace of Mr.Harris' latest day in the life of Mr.Hannibal "Of course it's beef stew" Lector.

The ending is going to throw you for a loop. I am anxiously awaiting the movie to see how true Hollywood will remain to the book. I have a strong feeling Mr.Harris has another story to tell.

Summary: Very disappointing
Review: It seemed that Thomas Harris was forced to write this book. There is none of the brilliance of his previous books. I can't believe Anthony Hopkins has aggreed to play Dr. Lector again. ....

Summary: Go Hannibal, Go Clarice...Okay, who wins?
Review: Thomas Harris is a fine author. I probably should not have read this book, but I was just a little too curious. As in the "The Silence of the Lambs", its a happy ending for the "bad guy". I find it disturbing that Hannibal the Cannibal became a quotable legend after the brilliant portrayal by Anthony Hopkins in the film adaptation of "The Silence of the Lambs" and I hope he is not made into a cult hero again after this sequal is put to film. The book is well written and the pages turn fast, however, the contents are quite shocking. At first it seems that Hannibal has turned over a new leaf and has started a fascinating new life in Italy. The tenacious Mason Verger, a prior victim of Hannibal's Cannabalism (who survived) ,is planning all sorts of horrors for poor old Hannibal upon his capture. Meanwhile, Clarice Starling's career as an FBI agent is going down the tubes in what seems to be the most unfair scrutinization of any female agent ever. The two are re-united, but the ending is just unrealistic. I couldn't recommend this book due to its graphic nature.

Summary: A bizarre, beautiful, and bone-chilling piece of literature
Review: Having finished "Hannibal" roughly three hours ago, I still have all the details fresh in my mind, and I can still feel the sting left by Harris's remarkable novel. First off: If you are expecting a conventional sequel in any way, shape, or form, I wouldn't buy this book. Examining where "The Silence of the Lambs" left off, this book does not follow the chain of events that one would have expected, which is a mixed blessing. I had in my mind this specific way that the story would go after "Silence," and Harris has written what is basically the antithesis of that. But it is in this daring, twisted plot that I had a truly marvelous and very scary experience, and with the stroke of an artist's paintbrush he defines some truly amazing characters. It's a pretty easy book to go along with, but the amount of gore and sexuality in this book has occasion to be so explicit that I must warn those who plan to read it. Simply stated, it makes "The Silence of the Lambs" look like "Bambi." The grisly subject matter runs pretty much the whole length of the novel, so be prepared for it. Also, be prepared for the most surprising, horrific, and distressing ending you may ever read in a novel. I had no idea where it was going. Many people have been put off by it, and that is totally understandable... I still don't know quite what to make of his ending. The book chugs along like a train and then veers off onto a rather confusing and unexpected track in the final pages, almost as if Harris wanted to see how hard he could punch his readers in their stomachs. The novel is a work of art, and if you have no worries over the grotesque subject matter and can get past the novel's final, grand twist, it is one of the best experiences you will ever have reading a book. Don't read it at night.

Summary: It's like relishing a slice of Easter ham...
Review: ...and then you bite into the clove. The book is a fine read, really, but the ending leaves you wondering what all the fuss was about. Harris introduces several new characters, all of which are mirrors of characters in Lambs, which eventually are eaten by Lecter. All is going strong for the first 90 chapters (don't be alarmed - each chapter is only two- to three-pages in length) and then just fizzled. Were we rushing to make a deadline, Harris? In short, it starts out strong, has a good flavor, and just when you know you're going to enjoy it to the last byte, you bite into the clove! Read this book, but don't expect too much.

Summary: Sell out
Review: Although this book was entertaining, it wasn't half as good as Harris's other books. The interestingly evil character in this book is Mason Verger, not Lecter. Lecter is explained away as simply a man doing bad things because of the traumatic loss of his sister. This is all put right though when he settles down with a good woman. Puleeze, what a cop out. Seems like Lecter was just a lonely man looking for domestic bliss and fine food all along. What a silly ending. i can't see why Stephen King gave this book such a good review.

Summary: The Silence is Ended
Review: If you have not read this novel, I would suggest not reading all the reviews. I did that, and lost out on quite a few surprises that make this such a fun read! Okay, it's basically a book about strange people (and not who you think -- Hannibal, the titular cannibal, is a strange bird but everyone here is bizarre to say the least). What was missing? Any connection to RED DRAGON is not in here...Will Graham? He caught Lechter the first time...why no mention in here? Mainly this is to be seen as a sequel to SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. As you all know by now, Jody Foster hated what happens to Starling in this novel...so much so that she refused to do the movie(even though Anthony Hopkins will be back). It's an interesting, fun, fast, scary read! Do you want more? I think Harris did a good job of wrapping up the story, but the ending is a little bit out there (be warned). But the ride is worth the price of admission.

Summary: I Started Reading And Was Hooked
Review: I started reading one night on my living room couch and was hooked. I couldn't put it down until I fell asleep reading it. It's a very good book. I read it and love to read it over when I have the time. It's a great book and you should read it. If you like action or suspense read this and even reccomend it to you if you don't. I just don't reccomend it to children because you might not like it.

Summary: It's called: A screenplay
Review: The publisher should be hanged. If all the industry wants out of this "writer" is a screenplay for a lousy movie, why not ask him to "write" a screenplay and be done with it. Ack!
