Rating: Summary: Greatest book ever!!!!!! Review: I have read this book a billion times and I am 9 years old so it scared me i was scared of The Boogie man a little (watch your closet) and i also liked Sometimes they come back STEPHAN KING RULES
Rating: Summary: movie mania Review: As I'm sure you all know, this magnificent collection of short stories by Stephen King has had five movies made from the short stories. Trucks was made into Maximum Overdrive (written and directed by Stephen King) starring Emilio Estevez and was remade in 1997 as Trucks on USA, Children of the Corn was made into a major motion picture, Sometimes They Come Back (not as corny as it sounds) was made into an excellent made-for-tv movies by the same name starring Tim Matheson, and The Ledge and Quitters Inc. were two stories in a movie called Cat's Eye starring James Woods and a very young Drew Barrymore. Cat's Eye was also written by the master. Short, but sweet, these stories (and movies) really pack a punch.
Rating: Summary: I stayed up night staring at my closet thanks to BOOGIE MAN Review: I feel that he used his words perfectly to give the reader a frightning expierence.
Rating: Summary: His Best Short Story Collection Ever!!!!!!!!!! Review: I thought this book was phenominal. It ranks up there with Desperation and The Regulators. I thought it was lean and mean and hit with such intesity that Iwould have insomnia at night. I thought the three most spookiest stories were: "The Boogeyman"(always check the closet), "Gray Matter"(it's not like "BOO!!!" scary but its weird scary like "Thinner" on my block there is a house just like Ritchie Geradine's)and "Graveyard Shift" Other phenominal stories are "The Ledge"(mind boggiling), "Battle Ground"(A Great Story), "The mangler" and "Strawberry Spring" That story was metioned in the novel "Desperation". I say this is his best book of short stories of all time! Read it and you'll be scared!!!!
Rating: Summary: A GOOD book of short stories, some bad, but most good. Review: Most of the stories in this book are King at his best, but some fall drastically short. For example, the boogeyman is a great story (I didn't sleep for three days after reading it), but Trucks and the Lawnmower Man are just plain silly. Some of the stories are not really horrer, but science fiction...Trucks, Battleground, Quitters, Inc., Night Surf, and possibly I am the Doorway. Still, out of the 20 stories that make up this book, only 4 are truly bad. But, The Ledge, I Know What You Need, The Last Rung on the Ladder, and The Man Who Loved Flowers are REALLY bad...I skip over them almost every time I read this book. For pure fright, though, the Boogeyman, the Mangler, Gray Matter, Strawberry Spring, and One for the Road are as good as they come. The Foreword is also creepy...very. Overall, a book everyone should own...Whether you love to be scared or not, this book is awesome.
Rating: Summary: And he does short stories too! Review: Ya know, I have thought of Stephen King (my favorite author) as being a Novel kinda guy, but until I got this book. Now I consider him one of the best horror writers ever. He can pack so much into just these short stories, it's amazing.
Rating: Summary: Good Review: I liked this book, mainly because I like short stories. The two or three stories near the end made the book "die" though. They weren't as gripping as the other stories in the book.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS GRUESOME IN A COOL KIND OF WAY !!! Review: I read this book a while ago and am giving it a while before i attempt it again. it is brilliant and the kind of book you can't put down. my favourites include 'Quitters, Inc.''Children of the Corn', 'Graveyard Shift', 'The Boogeyman'. Most of all though the prologue is very scary, it took me ages to get to sleep after reading it, i was too SCARED!! i'd recommend this book to everyone you enjoys being scared, so what are you waiting for go get a copy now!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A masterpiece Review: This book has the distinction of having almost half its short stories turned into major movie productions. No other author can boast to that. Yes, a few of the stories are lame, but I've read most of these short stories more than once. It's King at his best.
Rating: Summary: VERY GOOD SHORT STORIES Review: I loved this collection of short stories. I only gave it a 8 rating because some of the the stories are a little hard to read but for the most part they are very fun and suspenful!! I loved "The Lawnmower Man", nothing at all like the boring film, I also loved "The Last Rung On The Ladder", also a very good short story. "The Children Of The Corn" was a little disapointing though. But for the most part this collection of short stories is worth reading.
