Rating: Summary: Masterpiece Collection of Brilliant Short Stories Review: Wonderful collection of fiction by America's greatest living author
Rating: Summary: Overall letter grade=A+ Review: I started reading King over seventeen years ago. This was not too long after he started making a name for himself and I believe Night Shift was the first published work of his I read. I remember quickly digesting all the material in this book and thinking that this guy can definitely write. I was most impressed w/ the epistolary(letters & journals, etc) tale Jerusalem's Lot which described a shunned town and desecrated church. There was even a bit of homage to Lovecraft that I liked. I don't think there is a weak story in the bunch. A must read for short story lovers!
Rating: Summary: Hail The Short Story!!! Review: A Must read!!! even if your not a Stephen King Fan. This is a collection with history. Avid King reader's already know how some of this material got used and abused!! In these very original stories you get glimpses of what King would write in some of his best novels. Some of this material was trashed in movie scripts. You really need to read these stories to see what King is really about. No one in this century has left a more valid mark on "America" than King. I didn't give this collection 5 stars because there are a few Cujo's (dogs, ha ha :-) ) in it.
Rating: Summary: Best collection by King Review: The Night Shift is his best collection, with stories like One For The Road and Graveyard Shift and Woman in the Room. I suggest first time readers read some of these stories and you can decide if King is a good writer for yourself.
Rating: Summary: A world of horror brought to you by the master Stephen King Review: I loved this book. It is very entertaining. The best stories were Jerusalem's Lot, Children Of the Corn, and The Ledge. The worst were Gray Matter, The Boogieman and The Mangler
Rating: Summary: At the end of each story I gasped. Review: I read this in the original paperback version, when I was in college. I irritated my roommates to no end, because as I finished each story, and each story was only about eleven or twelve pages long, I let out an audible gasp, groan, shriek, but mostly eeuuuwwws! Then as each read it in turn, I was subjected to their eeks, oohs, moans, etc. So stay up late, all alone, and read some truly creepy stories.
Rating: Summary: It was pretty good Review: Most of the stories were enjoyable but some were boring. It took me about a week to read it cause it wasn't a page-turner.
Rating: Summary: A GREAT BOOK ONE OF KING'S BEST. Review: I'm not yet done with the book but most of what I'v read is good (with a few exceptions like Night Surf and The Man Who Loved Flowers) my favorites where The Boogieman (A man is haunted by a monster from the closet, had me scared for days) and Battleground (a box of army men comes alive and gets revenge)and other great story's like Gray Matter Jeruasalem's Lot and The Mangler. A must read if you like King.
Rating: Summary: BEST KING EVER Review: This is the best book Stephen King has ever written. Not all the stories are excellent, but Jerusalem's Lot alone is worth the price. Do yourself a big favor and buy it. You won't regret.
Rating: Summary: If you only read one story Review: read Quitters, Inc
