Summary: Great Horror Story...LOVED IT!
Review: This book reminds me of when I was a kid (late 60's to mid 70's) in Indianapolis, Indiana watching old horror movies every Friday night on channel(4), the host Sammy Terry used to show movies like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Village of the Damned, Invaders from Mars, The Creeping Unknown, Enemy from Space, Five Million Years to Earth, Island of the Burning Doomed, Island of Terror, Race with the Devil, ect. I loved these old films and I never forgot them. It even reminds me of the drive in movies I went to in the 70's, I think I've seen every horror movie ever made. This book was great(it's vaguely similar to Dead and Buried by Chelsea Quinn Yarbo but not by much with a touch of Invasion of the Body Snatchers) and would make a great film!. Knight's writing style is straight forward full throttle ahead, it's easy to read, unpredictable, suspenseful, scary, with realistic characters (that you can actually care for). I don't pay attention to the blurbs they put on books like "If you like Stephen..." everyone writes as an individual, it gives people false expectations about what they're about to read. I always go into a book with an open mind... unfortunately Mr. Kings readers(zombies) are so jaded they are incapable of this simple brain function(probably because their favorite author is retiring) they critique, piss and moan, whine and complain "It's nothing like King", of course DIPS#!? it's not! it's J. F@#$ing Knight. If you enjoy a good spooky story then you should try this book out...I loved it.

Summary: Great for even those not into horror novels.
Review: Normally I am not a fan of "horror" novels. Even though I enjoyed King's Bag of Bones & a few others by Koontz & King. I found that Risen captivated me from the very first page. It was hard to put down & continue with life. The characterizations and the laying out of the story were wonderful. You could almost feel the creepyness surround you. This is one book that I will enjoy giving as a gift and I'm waiting for the movie!

Summary: Heart Thumping Good Read --
Review: I'm not a big horror fan. Nora Roberts is more my speed (she writes romances, in case you're of the Y-chromosome persuasion). But good writing will always suck me in, and this novel is a case in point. Tersely written, well-paced, with flashes of a wicked sense of humor, Risen kept me turning the pages. I read Salem's Lot decades ago, and had to put my baby in bed with me, it scared me so much. My baby is 26 now, but I considered driving to her house in the middle of the night anyway. This is why I usually stick to romances. Damn you, J. Knight, for disturbing my sound sleep! --Scared Kat

Summary: sounds an awful lot like...
Review: Dead and Buried. Anybody seen it? 1980 horror flick in which "zombies" are really townspeople made over by the morgue attendant. Wondering if this was "inspired" by it...There's even a "Sad" twist ending to that one, too. Just wondering...

Summary: A Very Scary Book
Review: I was surprised by some of the twists and turns this story took, and that doesn't happen with very many of the books I read. This one got more macabre as the story unfolded. I'm looking forward to reading many more books by J. Knight!

Summary: Beware the Conversion.
Review: I picked this up on a wim and BAM!!!! I was comvinced the Horror Novel had been long worn out and laid to rest by those consistent formula authors.....( you know whom I speak of...) But after reading this and other books from Lee, Clegg, Rogers, Little, Piccinilli, etc... I have seen the newfound beacons of Horror. I loved this book and found it a joy to read from cover to cover. His characters come to life as if they're your own neighbors and friends giving you the chance to share the main characters anxiety and fear.............. Pick it up and pass it on.

Summary: You want this book!
Review: Marvelously written, with the saddest of twisty endings, Risen makes other books of it's type slow and repetitive.

Summary: Exellent Read
Review: Hello everyone,
I just wanted to put my 2 cents in here and say I really enjoyed the book.
The plot was exellent and I am hoping to see more work from Mr. Night.
This book rates right up there with Riding The Bullet by S. King.

Summary: Good Effort
Review: Risen was marketed as being the book for people who love Stpehn King. With trepidation I began reading and by the end of the first chapter I recalled something that Mr. King himself once said. When a book is marketed as being "in the tradition of" or is introduced by saying "if you love --- you'll like this book" then you know it's going to be a cold thin imitation. Risen is actually better than that. On it's own it's a pretty good zombie novel. Compared to Stephen King however, it just doesn't meet the mark. The bottom line is this: if you are expecting a Stephen King clone you will be bitterly disappointed. If you want a pleasantly creepy tale that will amuse you for a few hours then give Risen a try.
