Summary: False Memory is Unforgettable!
Review: This is one of his best! The first night I started reading at 10 p.m. and didn't stop until 3:30 a.m. I finished the book the next night, and (as always), am now waiting for his next book.

Koontz has an incredible talent for keeping his readers up all night. I always tell myself I'll stop at the next chapter, and end up reading 100 more pages.

I started reading his books after I got tired of Steven King's long paragraphs. Soon I was hooked on Koontz, and started reading every book I could find that he had written.

Koontz' characters are so believable, and his writing style keeps you from being bombarded with too many new characters at a time. Koontz seems to sense when the reader is ready for more. You never have to flip back in the book to find out who someone is. Not only do you know who the characters are, you can relate to them!

Another strong suit for Koontz is his ability to keep you guessing until the end. And as with his other books, False Memory is definitely unforgettable.

Review: I have been reading Dean Koontz's novels since the late 70's. Mostly I find his work very suspenseful. But this novel left me bored. This is his worst book since IceBound. It starts slow and then fizzles out all together. I miss the Dean Koontz I use to know. The one who wrote horror stories. How about some "creatures" next time.

Summary: Short Memory
Review: Don't get me wrong...Koontz is one of my favorite authors and I immediately pre-order his books before they're released. This one left me cold. It was just unpleasant. Yes, I know this is a horror writer, but usually his books have some clever supernatural twist to them that keeps me intrigued. This one bored me to tears. I finally gave up after 200 dreadful pages. Dean, go back to great themes like you used in Watchers, my favorite.

Summary: Not His Best
Review: Having read all of Dean Koontz's books, this one fell below my level of expectation. The opening of the book was like riding a roller coaster that never stopped. The description of Martie's growing fear could have been told more succintly. There was too much useless description. The story could have been told better without it. The ending, which I am sure was supposed to have been a surprise or twist ending, came out of nowhere. There had been mention of Dusty's family throughout the story, but those descriptions did not prepare the reader for what was to come. So the ending felt like it came from another story. I am a fan of Dean Koontz, but this book was very disappointing.

Summary: Wish It Were Better
Review: I have been a fan of Dean Koontz over the years -- his early books were truly original and he's got a talent for telling a good yarn. BUT! What is the deal anymore with his overblown, purple prose? His similies and metaphors are overused to the point where it's almost ridiculous. I find his extraneous descriptions to be so distracting, that I tend to skim his books instead of really getting absorbed in them. That's a shame, since this book has a fairly original, suspenseful plot.

But c'mon! ("Turning more heads than a coven of chiropractors")? I wish Koontz would just stick to simple, straightforward story-telling and leave the stupid figurative language out altogether.

Summary: DK does it again, pulling you in from the first word...
Review: He takes a world that is very real and adds an evil plot that could be real.

This is one of the reasons I love DK's novels. He creates characters that can be related to, trusted, cared for and missed. After reading this book I felt like I knew Dusty, Martie, Skeet, Sooz, and the others, like they were real people. He doesn't just describe a character, he brings them to life.

The same thing is true with the situations and surroundings the characters find themselves in. You feel like you've been there.

Throughout the entire story I kept trying to predict what was going to happen. I failed on every attempt and was pleasantly surprised by each failure.

I recommend this book to anyone out there who enjoys being emersed in a story resembling real life, yet twists and turns in a way we never would have expected.

Summary: Unputdownable
Review: Have to get up to take my dog out at 4:30 a.m. Instead of going back to bed, I grabbed this book. Took me two days. Loved it. Very suspenseful and some loveable characters. The Dr. was evil personified. Loved the dog. My favorite Koontz book of all: Watchers. Will never forget Einstein.

Summary: EXCELLENT!
Review: I just finished reading "False Memory" and I have to admit that I'm very very impressed! Dean is back again! I have to admit that I wasn't very crazy about the Christopher Snow books. To me they were missing something...they weren't as exciting as Koontz's prior work. Maybe it's because after reading both "Snow" books I still don't know what the heck is going on! So I'm waiting for the third installment to tie all the loose ends together. Anyway, I was glued to "False Memory" from the first page! I've read several reviews on this novel and some have said that it's too long but I didn't find it long at all! I loved reading about the villian Ahriman! He's psychotic, sadistic, wacked out of his mind and on top of all that he's a genius, which makes him even more dangerous! Although some of the parts are a bit gruesome and sick I recommend this book to everyone! It's really an entertaining read!

Summary: UNFORGETTABLE
Review: False Memory was unforgettable. The story was spellbinding! I could not put this book down. The characters were so compelling and truthful. I couldn't imagine how this story would end and it was delightful. Dean Koontz please hurry up with the next book. Your the greatest!

Summary: Slow Starter
Review: I've read every Koontz offering hot off the press, and am usually hooked from the first chapter. This one is not typical Koontz in that I was over 200 pages in before I became interested in the storyline. The protagonist is weird and dangerous, without a doubt, but in the end, he is simply a man, and I missed the supernatural/paranormal elements which are quintessentially Koontz. The main characters - Martie, Dusty, Valet, Skeet, et al. - are well and highly developed and, once you get past the slow start, you will certainly gain sympathy, worry about them, and root for them to the end. The premise is brainwashing, and is depicted as not only possible but frighteningly easily accomplished. Ultimately, this IS the Koontz we know and love, and "False Memory" is a highly recommended "must read" for us fans!
