Rating: Summary: Intense reading pace. Review: This has to be one of the best by Koontz. It's an excellent book which took off like a rocket from the first chapter. I actually read the new Crichton book "Timeline" before this and found this to be quite a bit more exciting. Buy and enjoy. I'm not auctioning mine off, it's going in the library.
Rating: Summary: False Memory Review: This is an excellent book, even though it was just bought to pass time on the train. I have read alot of Dean koontz books and this is the best one yet, they seem to get better every time.
Rating: Summary: Are there parallels here with Night Chills? Review: As a lifelong Dean Koontz fan, I can honestly say that I have read and enjoyed every one of his books currently in publication. It was, therefore a complete surprise to me to find a Dean Koontz book that I didn't devour within a week. The book actually took me about three weeks, and at no point could I say that I was gripped. The political message has already been expressed in Night Chills, with the villains showing distinct similarities in their modus operandi. The book is slow, painfully so at times, and if you don't get gripped by the authors attempt to impress with uncommon words (he has used the word "fugue" in his last five or six books), then you won't enjoy this one. Seize the Night and Fear Nothing were far better Novels, because the author did not make a pretentious attempt to show a new level of depth in his writing. If this book had been written by any other author (especially Steven King), then it would have been worth 3 stars. For Dean Koontz however, 2 stars and a hope that a return to his old style of writing is imminent.
Rating: Summary: FOR ONCE I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED ABRIDGED! Review: I wish I hadn't invested in the unabridged audio of False Memory. WAY too repetitive. Felt sorry for Stephen Lang (the reader) having to essentially say the same thing for minutes on end. Koontz need an editor with a BIG RED PEN!
Rating: Summary: THE BEST YET! Review: I've read every book by Koonta on the market, but False Memory was far and away the best and is now replacing Dark River's of the Heart as my favorite. What is better than anything else in this book is that it takes pace now and you can relate with much that is in the book. It took me longer than usual to read (probably because of the 627 pages), but once you get to the last 5 or 6 chapters (of 76) you just can't stop. If you love suspence or fust need a new book to read, or are a koontz-fanatice like I am, youy need to read this book.
Rating: Summary: Politically Savvy Review: This is Koontz's most libertarian and politically savvy novel since DARK RIVERS OF THE HEART (1994), and it may be his best book to date (I've read more than 15 of them). It is a gripping story, much more multi-layered than you expect after reading the first 50-60 pages. And besides being a wonderful "warning" about mind control, it is a brilliant attack on fuzzy-headed "liberal" academia. HIGHLY recommended for Koontz fans and also those who have never before experienced this author!
Rating: Summary: What's the big deal? Review: The reviews were so ecstatic that I decided to give this a try, even though I dropped Koontz when he started getting so lazy, recycling heros, villains, dogs, etc. Boy, did I get burned! I couldn't even finish this! I think this hack's fans would eat his dirty laundry and give it five stars and say "This is the best laundry I've ever eaten in my life!" Why don't more people stretch their minds a little and explore the world of real literature? It's out there!
Rating: Summary: Better than most else Review: Dean Koontz continues to be the most fascinating fiction writer out there. While this story is not breaking any new ground, Koontz has the unique ability to drag the reader head first into his world and to give characters that are smart, strong, and worthy of the reader's interest. The worst Koontz book is better than most anything else and this is far from his worst.
Rating: Summary: Great Read Review: Koontz has always been hit or miss for me. The books that are bad, are awful, but those that are good are some of the best books I've ever read. This book is most certainly one of his great ones. I felt like I truely knew the characters, and as for the villian! By the middle of the book you no longer care how he became the way he is, you just want to see him dead. Its been a long time since I got emotionally involved with the characters like I did with this book. It is somewhat wordy, but that the only negative. This one ranks right up their with Intensity and Dark Rivers of the Heart.
Rating: Summary: a very good read Review: I enjoyed this book alot, but wondered if anyone else noticed all the hyphenated words that are not usually hyphenated. I started noticing them about midway through the book, and started writing them down thinking that there might be some sort of message. As with all of DK`s books, this one is very wordy and you will need adictionary close by.
