Rating: Summary: This book fell below my expectations of a Koontz novel. Review: This is book both suprised and disappointed more than once. Beginning strong and continuing with a powerful storyline this novel compelled me to read on. I became more or less bored towards the end of the climax. Also, the resolution left much to be desired. I personally feel that for Koontz, this book was slighty under his superb level of creativity in writing.
Rating: Summary: Suspensfull! Review: I have only read two of Dean Koontz's books so far, that I know of, but I think this one was really good. As others said, it keeps you on the edge of your seat. I just couldn't put it down. I am most likely going to read many more.
Rating: Summary: Suspensfull! Review: I have only read two of Dean Koontz's books so far, that I know of, but I think this one was really good. As others said, it keep me on the edge of my seat. I just couldn't put it down. I am most likely going to read many more.
Rating: Summary: What a confusing, twisted--what's going on?! Review: This is the second Koontz novel that i read. When I read the dust jacket, the plot sounded interesting, but there were some scenes that were just too confusing! There were some suspenseful moments, but the explanations took me nowhere, and it was hard for me to pinpoint the climax. Around the beginning of the book, Koontz used too many "50-cent" words, and I pictured the scenery as bland. Let's not make this into a movie. So far, I have read 2 Koontz novels, but I'm not stopping there. I just can hope and pray that my likes outnumber my loathes. Deano, I have new views about you.
Rating: Summary: One Of His Best Review: Koontz has done it again!!! Everybook that I read by this man makes my heart race with fear and wonder. This riveting tale of a man and his dark secrets that send him on incredible missions, is by far one of the best books that I have read by him with the exception of WATCHERS and LIGHTING.
Rating: Summary: Makes you come back for more Review: This is the first Dean Koontz book I have ever read, and it will not be my last!! Cold Fire keeps you on the edge of your seat. Great use of vocabulary and imagery.
Rating: Summary: One of his weaker efforts Review: Koontz can be a thrilling writer, but this one didn't do it for me. Try "The Bad Place" or "Hideaway" instead.
Rating: Summary: Standard Koontz Fair Review: Cold Fire is not one of Koontz best, but it is not one of his worst either. It is quite an easy read that certainly kept me turning the pages to the last. However, once I figured out what was happening shortly after the midpoint of the book I was reading more for confirmation of what I suspected than anything else. Good story and certainly something that any Dean Koontz fan will want on their shelf.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable . . . Review: Everything about the novel intrigued me throughout, trying to figure out what was going to happen, what was happening. But then to find out in the end that these creatures were nothing but figments of Jim's imagination was a big let down and a sad disappointment. I was really looking forward to some more supernatural events. And, honestly, I personally know people who have been through things 100 times worse than Jim, but who didn't go over the edge.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite Koontz Review: This book was my introduction to Dean Koontz, and after reading a half dozen of his other titiles, it remains my favorite. The unexpected twists this story takes sets it apart from other, more traditional (as if you could say any Koontz story is "traditional") horror stories.
