Review: THis book was recomended to me from a friend, and I was a bit sceptical. " Just another old vampire book that reads like the rest " i thought...then I actually got into it, and WOW, it was god, if you don't mind a bit of gore and graphic sex.... The ideas Golden protrayed in it about the catholic chuch was very interesting and It added a bit of fun to the book. Definitivly recoment this to anyone tired of the same old vampire storie

Summary: Very Impressive!
Review: This is a very impressive book. Take what you know about vampires...and toss it out the window. When you do this, your all set for this wonderful book.

The story is about the catholic church wages war aganist the vampires. But the reader will be glued to the book and will be shocked on who the bad guys are and who the good guys are. Everything isn't what it seems. I can't give away to much of the book, but this book builds up and up to an fantastic ending, that will leave the reader speechless.

Christopher Golden is a wonderful story teller who has a unique style of writing. I like how he takes a new twist on the vampire myth. I was glued to the book, and had to force myself to put it down.

If your a fan of vampire fiction, I suggest you pick this up and you won't be sorry.

Summary: A great twist on an old genre
Review: This is one of the best vampire books I've read. What makes it so great is that there is a very original twist to it. The relationship between church and the vampires in this book is very original. The writing style is very easy to follow and the story is very good. It really made me want to get the other books in the series.

The characters in this book are very interesting as well. They are rather well developed and aren't your standard, cookie cutter characters that you find in a lot of novels.

Briefly, this book is about a vampire who realizes that all of the restrictions that vampires face are only there because the church has brainwashed them into believing them. By focusing on believing, for example, that sunlight is not dangerous, the vampires can be in the sun with no ill effects. The church, on the other hand, wants the vampires destroyed and has squads of assassins to work towards this end. This has the potential to be an excellent series. I very strongly recommend this book to any lover of vampire lore.

Summary: A beginning of an obsession?
Review: While I enjoy the occasional horror novel, I haven't read too many vampire novels, because the ones I have read were the same boring, romantic plots over and over.

If you want good characterization, engrossing plot, a touch of sex, and the kind of violence that gives you that warm fuzzy feeling inside, this is a prime choice.

Summary: Oh...... MY..... GOD!!
Review: WOW!! I'm an avid book reader which translates into a bookworm. Vampires are my obsession, save for the Bishoujo Senshi, and most stories and authors, including the fabled, untouchable "Anne Rice" have repeated them with new characters. Christopher Golden is My HOLY GRAIL, and the holy grail of any Vampire booklover. This book weaves an intricate tale of dark magic, love, sex, and vampirism, and when you think that you've got it all figured out, BOOM!! Babe, you ain't got nothing figured out. It's the most exciting "god I can't put it down" type shoot me in the head to get it out of my hands book I've ever read, and it's sequal is even better. This is a MUST read!

Summary: New world Vampyres
Review: Wow... what more can I say? I was browsing through a bookshelf looking for something to read on my flight home... I ran across the title "Of Saints and Shadows". I was in a hurry.. liked the title and bought it. I started to read that night (all night flight) and couldn't put it down by the time I had gotten a quarter of the way through. I did nothing but read that book while I adjusted my sarcadian rythym. I was surprised by the ideas Golden put forth about the Catholic church and overwhelmingly delighted. It was as if no one had ever dared to do that before and I found it incredibly enlightening and an over all good read... an AWESOME read. I recommend this to anyone who is currently discusted with the regular old vampyre novel. OVERWHELMING!
