Rating: 4 stars
Summary: darkly decadent
Review: In _Drawing Blood_, Poppy Z. Brite has produced a thoroughly modern haunted house story infused throughout with her signature blend of heady homoeroticism, drugs, and music. On the way, Brite neatly captures a slice of current horror- and cyberculture through her recognition of artists ranging from Bosch, Giger, and Lovecraft to Gibson and Sterling. Recommended for those who would enjoy a more darkly decadent Anne Rice mixed with a liberal amount of Stephen King's ghoulishness

Summary: a family romance
Review: Poppy gets better each time, although she's better in the short form (for now); clearly PB is winding up to a significant legacy, Missing Mile vs. Castle Rock, with all world's cities between. She's better by far than King-at-her-age, making Anne Rice look timid and bland in comparison

Summary: Fun, but...
Review: If you want to introduce an easily offended friend to the twisted world of Poppy Z. Brite this is the book to use. A Horror Romance about Goth boys in love the atmosphere grabs you by the throat and the story when it's going is going at a breakneck pace. However sometimes the homoerotic, while beautifully done is excessive. I'm told that Jean Auel's Clan of the Cave Bear series fell into five hundred page sex in the cave adventures. This is the only trap this book falls into. Still it is a fun book and the characters are more fleshed out than the Lost Souls bunch

Summary: One of the best books ever!
Review: Ah, another chance to praise the work of Poppy Z. Brite. This novel is brilliant, only because it could be done by someone such as Poppy. The characters are wonderfully depicted, and she does a great job at descibing hacker culture and the angst that goes along with losing your family and wondering why you're still alive if they aren't. The erotic prose, and the colourful undertones of this book are just a reminder of what more great things Poppy has for us to read in the future! Opium Poppy Field

Summary: . . . It's a review. I'm afraid it's not very exciting.
Review: I was pleased with this book overall. It was one of the first books I have read by this author. The book flowed rather well and kept me interested throughout. Poppy has a pretty good sense of describing things really well. I could litterly see myself in Missing Mile, NC living the hellish nightmare of that dreadful place. The story like others have said, has great character devolpment. The only thing I found disappointing was that the novel jumped back and forth between the characters a lot and it needed more to the actual haunting of the house...anyway to me at least. Overall this was a really good book, fast paced and well written. I will definetly check out other works by this Poppy Z. Brite.

Summary: Brilliant Imagination
Review: I found this book (...) for more, I couldn't put it down. I love how poppy distinctively discribes each character and scene so vivid you can close your eyes and see it perfectly. I would recemend this book to everyone.

Summary: A collection of short horror stories
Review: This was definitely not as good as Poppy's first book Lost Souls. This book is a collection of short horror stories. I found that although a few stories were great such as, "His mouth will taste of Wormwood", and, "The sixth sentinel"; that others just did not hold my attention. Poppy is no doubt one of the best horror authors of her time, and I am among her true following, however this book did not do her justice.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not a Horror Novel
Review: This book centers around the two boys whose lives are missing that special something..............trust and love. Trevor McGee lost his family in a brutal murder while still a small child and at the hands of his cartoonist father, he lived through the torments of his mind only to find himself forced to return to Missing Mile. Zach Bosch is a computer nerd with his own disastrous childhood behind him and now he's running from the FBI after being caught out with his hacking exploits.

This book is wonderfully rich and varied with each character, no matter how minor their role is, being an individual that seems to live and breathe from the page. Admittedly the first time I read it I was decidely ambivalent towards it but after a break of 18 months I returned to it and this novel is simply amazing.

If you've never read any of Poppy Z Brite's work then this is an excellent starting point.
