Summary: Mr. Pike, are you with us?
Review: I too, am a huge Christopher Pike fan and have been without him for nearly 2 years. I miss his books. Where is he?!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Unique but flawed
Review: I was drawn into this book immediately and had a difficult time putting it down, and must say that it is definitely unique in terms of the plot twists and ultimate resolution. Usually, that is enough to make for a very satisfying read. There are, however, just a few flaws that should be mentioned for anyone thinking about reading this book:
1. Not everything in this book appears to make sense, even at the conclusion. Once you find out "what's going on," you will still wonder why some things happened the way they did.
2. Sometimes the actions of the characters, particularly the main character, do not seem realistic, or things that someone would do if the events were really unfolding. The motivations for the actions are weak: "...He decided without actually exercising his own will. He was a puppet, he thought, his strings were silver wire, so sharp they were capable of severing his very reason. And what was worse was that no one was pulling his strings." So the characters are just wandering around "stumbling" upon clues.
3. The writing is weak at times. Sometimes Pike is surprising with a sharp and on-target metaphor, and other times he writes with such simplicity it causes the plot to wear thin.
Don't get me wrong, I liked this book. The ending will blow you away, and the way Pike lays it out throughout the book shows he has talent. It actually took me a few days to get the ending out of my head. I couldn't decide whether I liked it or not; Pike broke one of the cardinal rules of book-writing and character survival, and I think I have come to appreciate that more as time goes by.

Summary: Good to be back!
Review: I was so happy to have a Christopher Pike in my hands again. I am hoping that his hiatus is over and we can start looking forward to more frequent publications.
Pike is a master of the horror/fantasy genre and this book lives up to my high expectations. Although still not my favorite book (Season of Passage is just too amazing to surpass I'm afraid) this is certainly an excellent trip into the mind of David Lennon. Happily, the mind of Pike is still a great, dark mystery to me. I would put the quality of this book equal to that of The Cold One, which will leave horror fans deliciously scared and wanting more.
Please don't make us wait so long for another, Mr. Pike!

Summary: Eh...only mediocre
Review: I'm a huge fan of Christopher Pike from when I was about 12 till now, at 26. I've always found his plots to be creative and his main charecters human but with something extra to make them...more. I personally love the story within a story plot device that he does.

I think that this book though was trying to do too much, and ended up doing not enough for me. I do have to say that I found the whole David/Sienna charecterizations very well done, though not his best. I just feel like the book was rushed, forced and missing wayyyyyy too much. The end was too trite and came across as the only way that he could have tied the plots together. There wasn't enough done, in my opinion, with the story w/in this story, or the pictures that were coming to David's mind about what to put on the front charecter. There was too much left unexplained with, as I said, the trite explanation of an evil creature--no real explanation of the nature of it, just sort of a bad guy from Hell feel.

On the other hand, I did feel that he raised some interesting questions. Well, ok, one about divine forgiveness. Sort of an interesting play on that theme that saved the story for me. I'm just sort of wondering though if perhaps Mr. Pike isn't running out of ideas OR if he has them, but needs more time to develop them and less pressure from publishers or whatever. It was a book with a lot of potential, but not enough fulfillment.

Summary: It's Pike . . . yet it's not.
Review: I've always been a huge Pike fan. My absolute favorite book from *any* author is "The Season of Passage." It's on the top of my list. So I've been waiting a long time for something new.

The books starts out promising but soon begins to read just like Pike's YA novels. The characters are described as being adult, but their dialogue and actions are very juvenile.

I was disappointed by the ending. It was like a B movie; the "bad guy" spelled everything out for the lead character instead of the lead character discovering things for himself. During the book he was "stumbling" on clues entirely by chance, it seemed, and it was all laid out a bit too neatly.

If you're a Pike fan I recommend this book because even if I didn't, a true Pike fan would read it anyway. But if you're just starting to get into Pike's books, make sure you read "The Season of Passage" before you go any farther!

Summary: A Fantastic Read
Review: I've been a Pike fan for many years and I must say that this read was great. I thought the ending was uniquely Pike. His novels aren't for the weak of mind and imagintion. Most of the people who don't like Pike are the ones who can't free their minds from the restrictions of everyday life. The Blind Mirror was truly a unique experience. He takes us from one extreme to another, from the bizarre to the really bizarre. Truly a great novel, and once again the ending is awesome, a little disturbing but just great.

Summary: Really good read
Review: I, like so many of the other reviewers here, have been reading Pike's books for years and years. I thoroughly enjoyed The Blind Mirror, I thought it was an interesting and fun read. I've always thought Pike's characters are really well fleshed out and interesting, and this book is no exception. My only gripe is that the ending felt a little rushed, and I would have liked some of the revelations that came late in the book to be explored further, but this was $25 well spent for me. As for some of the criticisms regarding his style not being evolved or more "adult", I love his style as is-there's something comforting and familiar about it that I look forward to with each new book. I can't wait to pass this along to a friend to read and I really think for entertainment (and even a little enlightenment now and then), you just can't go wrong with Pike.

Summary: If You like Pike , you like Pike
Review: My sister and I grew up reading Pike together so she made sure we both started and finished this one the same day as one another, talking about it the whole time, like we were back in Junior High with the Remember Me books. Now, however we are in our late twenties and both have gone onto to get English degrees and become writers ourselves, and we had the entire thing figured out by chapter 12. Don't get me wrong, we ravaged through it, obsessing over every detail, but I feel like I enjoyed it because reading Pike is like going home - you KNOW what you're going to get. I like that he handed me every answer I needed to figure it out based on the rest of his body of work - but if you've read every Pike AND you want new, mind-boggling, CRAZY plot twists you won't find them here. Its Spellbound meets Chain Letter meets Gimme a Kiss with a nod to at least 10 other Pike books. But that is why I love him. If you're a fan no reason to stop - he gives you classic Pike, but if you've never read Pike (and you're an adult) read Season of Passage.

Summary: Thank God! He is back!
Review: Ok Guys, we have been waiting for five years for this and we all have built up high fantasies about the "New book". I am sad that some of us out there have issues with the blind mirror. It is classic Pike and yet new and different and that is what it should be. We all have grown up for five years without new Pike to read and he has grown too. We need to look at this book through new eyes and open our minds. It was a great ride and fantastic trip away from reality, what we all have craved in his absents. I loved it and I have been a Pike fan for lifetimes and now I am no longer a young adult and I still am devoted to him. The turns, the twists, the evil and the beauty all are home to me and it is so good to be home once again! Christopher Pike, I am still ever amazed and in wonder of your ability to write and this book had reaffirmed my love for your works. Don't keep us waiting so long again, it hurts too much!
