Rating: Summary: Real Page Turner... Review: Another great book by Mr. Saul. The end caught me off gaurd... I found myself hoping that nothing would happen to little Micheal Hall which made me read even faster to see what would happen next. That is one of my requirements for a "good read" and Nathaniel was exactly that!
Rating: Summary: GOOD ... BUT NOT WHAT I EXPECTED ... Review: At first glance, Nathaniel appears to be a good scary ghost story. However, it comes down to being a first-class soap opera in which the main character is manipulated by a relative with psychic powers. There doesn't even appear to be a hint of the supernatural about this story as the synopsis would have you believe. The characterization is good and are well-developed, but instead of a flowing storyline, the book gets entrapped in a complex maze of family history. The ending didn't pack the punch of other Saul novels --- only showed the viscious circle of life.
Rating: Summary: Very creepy book with an outstanding setting Review: characters were great, setting was especially creepy, and the entire book's body was well put together. I've met John Saul once and he seems as mysterious as his books. This is the best book of his to date for me. I haven't read all of his, but quite a few. I also suggest Black Lightning. Not as scary as Nathaniel, but a overall easy story to follow with some scary parts.
Rating: Summary: A Lot Better than I expected, oh man! Review: For an author who has been called by some as a "wanna be Stephen King" this was definitely not what I expected. Sincerely chilling and disturbing I don't see how Mr. Saul's fanbase isn't much, much larger than it is. This is a serious case of critics being wrong, (and when I say wrong I mean they missed the freakin' moon on this one) A superb tale of supernatural intrigue in a small town setting. Hands down, if you like horror fiction (I'm not just talkin staples like Dean Koontz and Stephen King, I mean like John Farris and Peter Straub) then don't pass this one up.
Rating: Summary: One of the best I've ever read Review: I am a 12 year old girl. I think Nathaniel was the best book in the world because it is filled with horror and awe. It goes from the epitome of evil as everyone is mysteriously killed with the same thing, being a pitchfork, and it has alot of mystery because the supposedly ghost is actually something completely different, and is the son of someone that the writer makes you hate. The book gives you the feeling that you are reading a secret diary of evil doings and presences that gives you a terrible, but exciting chill down the depths of your trembeling spine.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST!!!!!! Review: I HAVE EVERY ONE OF JOHN SAULS BOOKS AND I HAVE READ EVERY ONE A THOUSAND TIMES. NATHANIEL IS MY FAVORITE ONE. I LOVE SAUL. THIS BOOK KEEPS YOU TURNING THE PAGES TILL YOU ARE DONE. YOU CAN NOT PUT IT DOWN.

Rating: Summary: Gripping.......mysterious Review: I have read just about all John Saul's horror novels. I found Nathaniel to be very intriquing. Small town mystery discovered by a big city lady, who dares to delve into her husband's past. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. This is not just for horror story lovers, it's very well written and it keeps you coming back for more.
Rating: Summary: Nathaniel was a great book by a great writer, John Saul. Review: I read this book and did a project on it in fifth grade and I have read in numerous times since then.(6 years) I've bought many copies to read and I love it, I love all of John Saul's books. I can picture the barn and graveyard in my mind. This book really grabs at your attention and doesn't let go. I could sit up for hours and read John Saul's books.
Rating: Summary: MY FAVORITE Review: I RECENTLY FINISHED THIS ONE, AGAIN. MY MOTHER PICKED THIS BOOK UP ON A LONELY TRAIN RIDE FROM NEW ORLEANS TO RICHMOND SOME YEARS BACK AND PASSED IT ON TO ME. I'VE READ NATHANIAL AT LEAST FOUR TIMES, AND IT GETS BETTER EVERY TIME. JOHN SAUL IS UNDER-RATED, IN MY OPINION, HE IS THE BEST.
