Summary: bad book
Review: First off I'd like to say that 1 star is far too gracious for Alten's gravest failure. This author made a substantial effort in trying to write a "so called" novel. This book was a complete and total blunder. I scorn Alten in his worst hour for this sorry excuse for a book. In this utter failure for a book I have found my mental capacity to be greatly diminished. At no point in this book was I at all surprised by a fact I didn't know. Alten tells of a prehistoric beast of a shark who ravages through its binds at the Tanaka Institute only to slaughter hundreds. I will not give away the end of this book in fear that it will make you vomit. Alten's gross use of sexual content was utterly disgusting and blatantly insulting. I wish I would never have wasted my time money and effort in reading this god-awful monstrosity of a "book." May God have mercy on the reader's soul.

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: I think you should make The Trench into a movie. I love
sharks in books and movies. The Meg is the biggest shark
out there but no one knows if it's out there. It would
be nice to know if it is. So please make this into a movie.

Summary: This book is scary! I can't even take a bath now!
Review: Man alive, this book made me frigtened. I am so scared of the water now, because we don't know what is down there. I'm even scared one of these Meg sharks are going to sneak into my bathtub to murder me. That would be terrible. This book is so scary. But it is easy to read. Sometimes I have to look up the big words that I don't know in the dictionary, but I knew every word that was written here. The author, Steve Alten, did a good job of using only words that most people know. He also taught me knew words about science that I never knew before, and he explained them real good. On his website the author tries to make you believe that the Meg is real and that there is one being held somewhere in secret. I think that is just baloney, because I don't think anyone is dumb enough to mess with one of these sharks. They are so evil! Watch out for them in your bathtub or your toilet, because they are smart and they are coming to get you!

Summary: The Trench
Review: The Trench is definetly the best piece of work Steve Alten has composed. The excitement of the plot captured me and i found it extremely hard to put the book down. Before reading this, I didnt read a lot because the books that the school forced us to read just made me not want to read voluntarily. Then when i tried this book after the prologe i knew i found an author that i liked. After i finised it a day after i started it i felt good about myself and couldnt wait to read other pieces of Steve Alten's work. I highly recommend this book to anyone who feels the need to escape reality for a while.

Summary: MEG
Review: This is the greatest book (besides Jurassic Park). I love the action gore, (and Maggie). I just started reading "The Trench" and it seems just as good. It was also very factual. I read the Author's Note at the back of the book and it said he put a...lot of reaserch into it.

PEACE OUT

WORD TO MY PEOPLE

Summary: A great follow up to MEG
Review: Steve Alten brought us to the depths of the ocean with MEG and now he brings all of it back once again with The Trench. When the Baby Meg that was in captivity escapes, the chase is on and it is more exciting than ever in this novel.

This book is a great follow up not only because of the excitement it brings, but also because of its great character development. There is a new villain on the scene and it is not a Shark; rather a multi-millionaire named Singer. This adds so much more to this story.

The same cast of characters is back and the action is still there. This is a great summer read, just don't read it at the beach!

Summary: A fast-paced sequel that I absolutely loved
Review: Meg was a great book, that I had waited years for, but I didn't have to wait too long for a sequel. The Trench brought back the Megaolodn in style. In the last book the female Meg was killed, but she gave birth to a few pups before she was killed, and in The Trench one of those pups comes back into the picture. In the last book, Jonas Taylor's friend Tanaka who runs a marine institute, had built a large sea pen in hopes of getting a few whales to migrate into it so the public could see them. Instead, it turns out that the pup that survived was rounded up and put into the pen (that when it was only a few feet long). Now Angel, that's the female shark's name, is huge, and it has escaped.

The Trench moves with the speed of Meg, but has a different setting besides the chasing the shark scene of the first book: a huge underwater "laboratory" in the Marinas Trench, where secret operations are taking place. The Trench not only has the fast paced atmosphere of Meg, but also introduces a new threat: the Meg's food in the Marinas Trench (read the book to find out). The plot and character develoment are quite good, and I loved this one as much as the first book, and the third one is up and coming (can't wait). You have to read it.

Summary: A Worthy Sequel AND It's Fun
Review: THE TRENCH makes for an entertaining read and brings closure to the story begun in MEG. Jonas Taylor is a tortured figure as the events in MEG have ground him down with guilt and fear. His depression and obsession with the meglodon is an interesting psychological mix. The action is quick and bloody as you would expect in a story about a giant shark of the West coast of North America. Personally I think that the only thing missing from this fun read is that I wanted more of Mackreides, Jonas' friend. He was the break-out star of this story. I hope that Hollywood decides to ante up and pick up the options of both these books. Can't wait to see this on a big screen.

Summary: The Best Damn Shark Book I Ever Read
Review: When I first picked up this book I thought it was just one of those "Im a big shark and I'll eat you" But when I got in to it and then realized how intersting this book was going to be. The way Steve Alten but this book together was I would say was incrediable. I love the plot twist the suspense of not knowing whether Celest is a good or bad girl. Pretty much the only other thing I can say about this book is if you haven't read it go read it today.
