Rating: Summary: Great book!! A MUST read!! Review: This book was exciting and heart stopping. It possesses many different unexpected twists and turns, which I loved. I have read Meg three times and I am sure I will also read this one many times in the near future. Mr. Alten impressed me with the amount of research that went into the writing of his books. For anyone who loves a book that you cant put down -- well this is the author to watch for.
Rating: Summary: An Adventure When You Probably Expect to Find A Horror Story Review: "The Trench" is an adventure with plenty of action, suspense, mystery, and death. Although it is a sequal, Steve Alten suprisingly seperates "The Trench" from his original novel "Meg." Unlike recent movie releases of the man vs. water monster genre (such as Jaws sequals, "Lake Placid", "Andaconda" and "Deep Blue Sea") It is an adventure story like the original Jaws, not a horror one. The novel is divided into two parelle adventures (An exploration of the trench with the introduction of another predator of the deep, and the attempt to recapture the Megalodon that was captured at the end of "Meg"), each with its own subplots which all come together by the end of the novel. This novel takes less focus on the Megalodon, reducing her to a supporting character which is somewhat disappointing; it focuses more on the trench itself and the interaction among the human characters. If fans of "Meg" are looking the same amount of eat-them-up carnage, they will probably be unsatisfied.
Rating: Summary: Absolutley great book! Excitement till the end!! Review: This book was great! The excitement was all the way through. If you are looking for a book that you won't want to put down, look no further. This is the book you are looking for. This book is a great follow up to Meg. If you enjoyed the first book, then you will definately like this one!
Rating: Summary: Hard to put down!! Review: Steve Alten's new book "The Trench" is one of the better books I've read recently, particularly for all-out entertainment. He paints such a visual picture, one can actually 'see' the creatures he writes about. Although I live in SE Florida now (close to where the author lives), I'm originally from the Pacific Northwest...where a good part of the dramatization takes place. I could see in "my mind's eye" all of the various locales the author mentions in "The Trench". One word of caution.... don't start reading the book just before you go to bed......you won't get any sleep!! As with his previous book "MEG", I was unable to put down "The Trench" until I'd read it from cover to cover. Thanks once again Steve, for keeping me up all night (no pun intended).
Rating: Summary: A Late Nighter! Review: The moment I started reading The Trench I knew I couldn't put it down! When I took a break all I could think of was what would happen next.It kept me breathless!A Great Read!
Rating: Summary: Gripping and Fantastic...I couldn't put it down Review: Steve Alten did it again! Angel makes her mother look like a guppy. An easy story line to follow, even if you haven't read "Meg". I couldn't put it down. "The Trench" draws you to the bottom of the world and refuses to let you go! For great reading, "The Trench" is a must!
Rating: Summary: A GREAT BOOK ! Review: This is an excellent book. If you need something to do during weekends or if you're winding down, you should read this book. If you liked the first book, then you'll love the second.
Rating: Summary: The best squeal to a book Review: I read the book in two days and couldn't put the book down. The author describes the story so good it becomes a movie in your mind. If you read this book and have not read Meg ( the book before the Trench)i would recommend you read it.
Rating: Summary: Quick moving heart stopping book Review: As a Jaws fan I am always in search of new shark books. Trench is good book for any shark fan. This book moves quickly and the excitment doesn't stop till the end.
Rating: Summary: The best read I've had in a long time. Review: This shark tale was by far the best I have ever read. The author takes you into the mind of the shark, and also into the characters who may or may not become lunch. The novel is written in such vivid detail, that is hard not to picture everything as it is happening. I was very disappointed when I was finished with the book, and am looking forward to reading more from Steve Alten.
