Summary: The Trench
Review: I enjoyed the book, but thought it was not as good as his first book. If you enjoyed Meg then you have to read the sequel to follow Jonas Taylor's life. There were a few parts of the plot that were slightly drawn out, but I still could not put it down.

Summary: Great
Review: Great follow up to meg. i loved it almost as much as the first one. i think this book help prove the fact that even the newest writers of the world can write a sequal without it looking like a copy of the first one. 100% fresh new ideas! P.S. I LOVED the idea of Kronosaurus, now there even more danger.

Summary: Not as good as I thought
Review: I don't think I enjoyed reading 'The trench' as much as 'Meg'. Angel was very aggressive and skillful as it fought other animals for a shark that has been captive for 4 years. Also, I doubt a shark would go against other healthy animals just for the sake of it. Apart from that, the characters are good and the storyline is fine. I keep picturing Bruce Willis as Jonas Taylor! Smart action man yet somehow vulnerable. While 'Meg' would make for a good movie (sadly it is not to be, particularly concerning what we get in cinemas today) I don't think 'The Trench' is up to the same standard.

Summary: I loved this book -- 5 Stars isn't enough!
Review: When I found out there was going to be a sequel to Meg, I couldn't wait to get The Trench. I definitely was not diappointed. Again I was reading a gripping story that kept me "on the edge of my seat." Mr. Alten does a great job in developing his characters and I felt like I knew them all very well.

Even though Meg and Trench were fiction, I find Mr. Alten's theories completely plausible -- I have to wonder what may lie deep under the ocean.

I can't wait to see more and more from Steve Alten!

Summary: excellent!
Review: I am a very active reader of several different subjects and authors, I can honestly say I do not have a favorite author at the moment, But if forced to make a choice it would be have to be Steve Alten, I have often stayed away from sequels because of the let-down that you experience sometimes after reading something very impressive and and then reading the sequel and discovering that you wasted your money with the Trench you do not have to be afraid of wasting your money, an excellent read, more than worth the time and money, and Mr.Alten don't let the tech-people's opinion's bring you down, that's why its called fiction, Thank you for a very entertaining book and I look forward to a great next novel.

Summary: if u like 72-foot fictional sharksthen this is for u
Review: I think the story is well written in the sence that making a 72-foot shark seem real is'nt the easyest thing in the world to do, but that goes along with the whole fiction thing and besides I have a very vivid imaganation but that's just me. But all in all the book is very well writen and has good main charicters, and the plot goes along with the the story unlike a few other storyies that i've read. It does have it's boring parts but what book dosn't and thier not for very long anyway and the good parts just keep you reading. Warning this book is very addicting, and my advice, read it when you have alot of time on your hands.

Summary: An author who is right up there with Crichton.
Review: Two years ago I read a review of "Meg" and had to buy the book. It was fantastic! The plot, the characters, and the sharks *shudder* combined to make this a thoroughly enjoyable book. I was thrilled to find out that there would be a sequel - "The Trench."

Hats off to Steve Alten who, once again, has done a superb job of getting and keeping his readers attention.

I will admit to having become so interested in sharks after reading his books that I have contacted the Woods Hole Institute and am getting more information on sharks in general.

Summary: Very Entertaining, Much Better Than I Had Even Hoped!
Review: First off, let me say, I didn't have much hope for this book. "Meg" I didn't read. I remember looking at the back and thinking "Wow a book about a shark that eats alot of people, Original!" Then when my father in law gave me The Trench I thought "Wow Jaws II. The baby is back and She's pissed. How totally original". But how WRONG I was!! This book was VERY entertaining, moves fast, lots of action, plenty of good guys and bad guys (and girls!). Would make a fine movie. Well worth the read. Enjoy!

Summary: I couldn't put down this great book!
Review: This book was so awesome! It's nice to see a sequel that does justice to the first book. Take Jurassic Park for example. The first was great but, the second one wasn't half as cool. The Trench, on the other hand, was just as cool as the first one, if not better. I read it in two days. I couldn't put it down. I reccomend this book to everyone!

Summary: One of the best books I've read!!
Review: This book has it all. Great character development, a great storyline, great characters, and a scary shark!! Steve Alten does a great job of putting you in the book visually. You can almost see everything that he describes. I can't wait to read MEG.
