Summary: The Trench
Review: This another amazing story by Steve Alten and is definetly as good as his last MEG. This time the story is about Angel the 72ft Megalodon, the pup of the last Meg. She is look up in a secure quarantine, that's what Jonas and his coleagues think. Sick of her enslavement she breaks out and is hunting down any life that looks tastey! However i'm not telling you any more, you'll have to buy this book now and find out for you'r self. you won't be disapointed! I LOVE IT!

Summary: A MEG-nificent Sequel!
Review: When I heard that Steve Alten was writing a sequel to MEG, my first reaction was "What For?" I mean, I enjoyed MEG, but it was just an updated version of "JAWS". A big killer shark on the loose. How original. (Charles Wilson did a much better job in his book EXTINCT.)

I knew how the sequel would read. The baby meg would grow up and escape from captivity and Jonas Taylor would be called out of retirement to capture it....... BOY WAS I EVER WRONG!

The Trench is an exciting undersea techno-thriller with non-stop suspense and unexpected surprises! There are two MEGS featured in this book! The 72 foot MEGalodon Shark, and a MEGalomaniacal villain who's just as dangerous. Jonas Taylor reluctantly returns to the Mariana Trench to rescue his wife, but there is something else besides the Megalodons lurking in THE TRENCH!

Way to go, Steve! GREAT SEQUEL!

Summary: Meg sequel a fun but nasty little thriller
Review: I love sharks. I will do any thing I can to get close to them, be it aquarium, movie or doco, or, this case, a book. Now while I abhor the demonizing of sharks, I can also forgive it in the form of entertainment. I know what sharks are really like, and so can inwardly smile while watching Jaws or Deep Blue Sea, or reading novels such as Extinct, Jaws, and the forementioned Meg. For me, Meg was a fun, dum thrill ride, and in many was, so is The Trench, except for two small differences - 1.) this has spy plot involving a Lex Luthor type villian (hey - he's rich, he's bald, and is insane, so it sounds a dead-ringer to me!), complete with thoroghly evil henchwoman, and 2.) this story is meaner, nastier that the preview, which while it had it's bodycount, the original Meg ate mostly jerks. In this, many innocents get in the way, somehow avoiding warnings that a 72 foot great white shark has escaped and is prowling the oceans. Still, as with the first, the action setups are thrilling and visual - again hinting to wards film treatment, and he does his best to expand the characters he's created. I look forward to book three, as proposed on the Meg website, but Alten may want to spread his wings a little more before readers tire of "Jurassic Shark!"

Summary: great book-bad movie idea
Review: this book was great. i read it all in about 4 hours. but people, seriously, i've read all your reviews and there are just some things that look great on paper but you just cannot transfer them onto the big screen without it looking cheap or cheesy. i'll be first in line to see MEG when it comes out but i'm dreading having to watch them try to suffer their way through it. especially the final scene.

Summary: Dreadful
Review: This is a cartoon of a book...wait, that's an insult to cartoons. It's contrived and badly written, and should give hope to aspiring writers everywhere, that if this can make it into print, then so can they.
