Summary: Poppy's changed my view of horror forever.
Review: Poppy Z. Brite had changed my view of horror novels forever. After 2 of my friends recommended me this book, I went out and found it. I wish I could have read it front to back in one day. I could see the color of Zillah's eyes, and yet wanted to kill the idiot at the same time. I enjoyed the character of Ghost, and of his wise thoughts and ideas and only for a young guy of 22 or so. I felt sorry for Steve and Christian, and Molocai and Twig made me wonder. Nothing was also and awesome character, you can feel how he was changing and such. I recommend this book to those that enjoy horror, it made me sick more than once.

Summary: Poppy, the best gothic horror writter ever!!
Review: I have read most of Poppy's books and I have to say that she is the has to be one of the best gothic horror writers of all times! And I think that Lost Souls has to be her best. I love how it goes. In fact I can relate to the charter Nothing. She really gets it down on how some teens really feel on life. You gotta love Poppy.

Summary: Strange, disturbing, unconventional - I loved it!
Review: I read this about two years ago, when I was a freshman in high school, and I totally loved it! I borrowed it from my boyfriend, and I read it at least three times, cover to cover, in the weekend that I had it. Right from the beginning, I was so pulled into it, I couldn't seem to put it down. The characters were great, and I could just see everything that she described. I could really identify with both Nothing and Christian, in different ways, and Zillah was just awesome. The first time I read it, I was riding down highway 64 in North Carolina, in a bus, so I could look out the window and actually see places that looked like Missing Mile. Of course, I was listening to Bauhaus, The Cure, and Rosetta Stone on my discman, and it was raining. Maybe it was just that the atmosphere was so perfect, but this is the only book that I've ever really felt imprinted itself on my life. I've probably read it over 200 times, and I'm still crazy about it. I've read all of Poppy's other books, too, but I think that Lost Souls was her best.

Summary: The perfect road trip from hell
Review: Poppy Z. Brite has ruined me forever. After reading this book I have had a hard time finding another author who satified my craving for horror like she has. You will fall in love with Missing Mile, New Orleans, Steve, Ghost and Nothing. A rich narrative and deeply engrossing character's helped make this book my all time favorite.

Summary: horrifing
Review: I do not know what it is about this book that I hate...perhaps it is the adolescent manner of writing, the horny-teenage-I'm-too-immature-to-handle-sex-scenes homoerotica. Or maybe I do know why this book reads like a fourteen year old wrote it.

Summary: Why you should read "Lost Souls" by Poppy Z. Brite
Review: I don't expect you to read this book just because some (most probably bribed) person you've never met has told you to. I want you to read it simply because it's one of the best novels you will read in a long time.

So, why should you read it? Well, it has a plot that twists and turns like a snake with a hernia, fascinating, multi-faceted characters, and two contrasting plot strands that eventually become interweaved. What more could you need?! A classic vampire novel, it's for all those out there who have ever suspected they might not fit in; and anyone who loves the atmosphere of New Orleans!

Go and buy this book now! You won't regret it.

Summary: This book is the coolest!
Review: Lost Souls is by far the best and most creatively written vampire novel I've read in a very long time.

Summary: Erotic, Sexual Role-Model of a "Vampire" Story
Review: I borrowed LostSouls from a co-worker with no real idea what to expect. He said it was one of the best books he had ever read, and I was willing to try it out. Later I found, to my amazement as well as amuzement, he has fashioned himself quite well after the rampant wantonness of the beings in PZB books! After reading my fill, I actually Returned the book to him a few days later. I say "actually returned" the book because as mentioned by other reviewies, this book has a habit of being absconded with by "friends" you share it with. I've gone thru five different PZB books in the past four years! The older Vampire, Christian held my heart and interest as the "mature and wise" Vampire while Zillah was the sexual dream (and possible role-model?) of what a Vampire should be. Wholly erotic and completely plain about what he was doing and why. The relationship between Ghost and Steve was one I could relate to and I was pleased to get a glimpse of them in Drawing Blood also. Reading this book and visiting New Orleans is an experience. You can gain a higher awareness of other-worldly beings and relish it. I highly recomend this book to any Vampire story fan with a strong sence of their own sexuality and a willingness to look at other sides of life. Great book, great author! Bravo!

Summary: Brutally Breathtaking
Review: What to say about the best book I've ever read, well I read this book about a year and a half ago and I haven't forgotten a graphic moment in that story since,it deeply affected me and Poppy's characterization was so personal and her settings were so vivid I felt like I was watching life in New Orleans unfold while I was hiding in a dark corner half hoping that Nothing or Christian would happen to glance my way. So far I haven't found another author who captured my attention the way Poppy has and I doubt that I ever will. Let the vampyres bite...

Summary: An amazing book to which my review cannot do justice
Review: This book is intense. It is not for people who believe that everyone skips through life, never seeing sex, drugs, or violence. It also can relate to every single person who leads a more mundane life. I was told that Lost Souls was the most amazing book ever written and I had to buy it ASAP, so a few days later, I had $6 and was near a bookstore, so I bought it and sat down in a corner during my lunch break. After the first chapter, I was stunned and hooked. This book is not only about vampires, it's about life. It's not describing how vampires roam around drinking blood, it's about passions and loneliness and how some cope and the horrible things which happen in life. Please forgive the lack of quality of this review, but for anyone who has ever lived and thought, Lost Souls is for them.
