Summary: the most beloved book i have ever read
Review: lost souls. two words that will remain in my mind as well as in my heart. this is by far the greatest book i have ever, and i do mean ever, read. Poppy Z. Brite digs her claws into you right in the get go and doesn't let go. i read the book in two days because i couln't put it down. my fav character was Ghost. his character was the most passionate and most sincere character in a novel that i have ever had the privelege to read. if anybody out there has not read this book, please do so. Poppy Z. Brite, thank you for the greatest book ever written. Keep up the good work and if you don't mind, try to write some more with Ghost in it. Ever since i read Lost Souls, my friends have been calling me Ghost. so, read up and enjoy.

Summary: The book was really brought to life.
Review: I loved the book it was the best book I've ever read. I feel in love with all the Twig and Nothing the most. It is the best book to read to get an insight on other peoples pain.

Summary: this kind of story takes imagination.
Review: not her best book for me but there was something about the charactor Nothing that totally grabbed me. You have to read this book just try not to notice the way Brite writes 'feral' over and over! Ditto 'kudzu'.

Summary: Nobody does it better than Poppy Z. Brite
Review: I got chills when I read this book. The writing flows like poetry and is beautiful. I loved how real the characters were. This book is perfect if you want to read something different. It's not your typical vampire book. And let's face it, if you've read one Anne Rice book you've read them all. This has teeth and isn't afraid to take a bite with them. I can't wait till Poppy's next book comes out!

Summary: IT grows dated the older I get...
Review: Anyone who knows me knows I blame a good amount of adolescent human behavior on hormones, plain and simple. not only does half this book not make metaphysical sense to me any longer (as in "why did I take this-or-that line to heart?" so much of it isn't even remotely..interesting anymore. I guess its okay if you're "like, 13 or something", self-absorbed, trying as hard as you can to look jaded, despite doing your darnedest to AVOID actually experiencing anything of any depth. And thats what this book is full of. There are only a few interesting characters represented, and those i feel aren't really from poppy's imagination, or from people she has experienced. They're of such spirit and incorporeal somethingness, almost ethereal beings that I'm sure she would be proud to say are "hers", from her little mind, petty human experiences and insights. But I honestly think they escape her. the book also takes, in retrospect, pointless and self-indulgent romps through just plain mean-spirited violence an cruelty that say nothing of the characters, the story, the narrative. it says alot about the mob of spooky-ooky kids who personify violence, death, lust, etc, to make sure they don't get too close to life, too touched by the experience. the more other people die, the less we have to, and more importantly, the more we just READ or watch people dying, the less we have to accept the REALITY of it all (I know some military goth will call me on that one). The more we iconify the cruel, the viscious and inhuman, the less we feel like we can be victimized by it, ESPECIALLY the preponderance of strapping young sexually ambiguous men that have always been the very epitome of Fascism; there they are, standing bemussed, mostly in black, cultured "devil- may-care", at the cusp of adulthood and responsibility, Peter Pan's with cocks of steel, only one female presence of note, whose pregancy results in her death. Hense the digression from the various "vampires" from over the centuries, to the insurmountable, valiant, existentialist silly nancy's of today, Lestat and louis, Zillah, et al.

Review: 'Lost Souls'...this book reminds me of the song 'Great Gig In The Sky'. I've read it sixteen or so times (that's not a lot for me, and besides it's only a day's read), and I can't get tired of it. The use of language especially is phenomenal. I didn't find it a frightening book, rather it was more like having a good conversation with a close charismatic friend.

Summary: Lost Souls is the best book ever written
Review: There's nothing I can say that hasn't been said before, this book is so wonderful. I fell in love with all the characters, I felt like I knew them, I felt like I was right there with them. I have read it 3 times, I just can't find anything to read that compares...I'm just wishing for a sequel. :)

Summary: The most powerful vampire novel of the century!
Review: I was so impressed by Poppy's vampire novel "Lost Souls"... I will go as far to say it is better than ANY Ann Rice vampire novel I have ever read! I think Poppy Z. Brite will lead us into the next century with a bang... she is one of the authors of the future! If you enjoy vampire novels with hip twists and unexpecting turns (in a very modern setting and time) check out this book! It is amazing!!!!

Summary: Anne Rice watch out!!!!!
Review: The characters in this book are so real, that if you go to the French Quarter in New Orleans you find yourself looking for Christians bar. And how wonderful it would be if they really existed. I can see us walking down The Village smoking clove cigarettes, howling at the moon while drinking Chartruese & feeding on those who cross our path. But I do believe that they exist... in us. We are those people you cross the street to avoid because we have the balls to be "different". Sometimes we all feel like Nothing. Like there's no place where we belong but, then you read a book like this & you realize that their are more Lost Souls walking the earth just like you.
