Summary: Great book!
Review: This is an excellent book, though I get the sense that Cherie is only beginning to find her voice. She's going to be big, I promise you that! I can't wait to see what she accomplishes in the next few years.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An amazing first novel
Review: Where to begin? Cherie Priest, in her first outing as an author of a full-length novel, ensnares and captivates the reader. When I began reading this book, I had no idea I was not going to put it down until I was done. Yet, that's what happened.

The story takes place in the southeastern United States. It centers on a girl who has always been able to see the ghosts of three women, who protect her from harm. One day, a madman attacks her, claiming that she's something she's not. From there, she learns things about her past that have always been - and probably should be left - hidden.

While reading this, I could *see* the surroundings. I could *smell* the scents. I could *sense* the supernatural just around the corner. I was not reading this book so much as watching the movie play out in my head. Ms. Priest has a gift for detail that is simply amazing, yet she manages this without becoming long-winded.

I've always been fond of books that caused an emotional reaction in me, but this definitely is one of the top books to do so. I cannot recommend this highly enough. It is a wonderful tale told by a very talented author.

Summary: ghosts and suspense and conspiracy, oh my!
Review: While I am not typically a horror fan, this work was incredibly fun to read. It has been a while since I have sat in suspense from a book, compelled to continue on to the next chapter just to see what happens. It is as well written as it is page turning, with some very beautiful language. On top of it all, the scene Cherie sets of Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida is a very complete one, with all the vivid detail necessary to make me believe I'm really there. Buy this book and read it! It's as cool as she is!

Summary: Amazing!
Review: Wonderful work by an immensely talented author. Well-woven tale with an intriguing cast of characters. It will keep you guessing! Difficult to put down once started. Look forward to more works from this young author!

Summary: I couldn't put it down, it's THAT good :)
Review: Wow. Cherie Priest is brilliant! This reader has been devouring the likes of King, Barker, Lovecraft, Saul and Herbert for many years, but Priest is in a class of her own...so listen up, students!

She has a remarkable way of drawing you in, and keeping you there. Readers often picture events taking place in a book, in their head. Cherie has a way of not only doing THAT, but making the reader feel they're actually THERE. Seeing and feeling everything, as it happens.

Her characters are so vibrantly portrayed, and so REAL, one actually feels they KNOW them. Or would at least like to :) But my favorite thing about this book, other than the story, itself...is the nonchalant dropping of bombs :) You'll have to read it, to see what I mean ;) She'll have you blinking and saying, "Huh..WHAT?" before you even realize she's done it. SUPERB story telling, period!!

I HIGHLY recommend this book to anybody who enjoys a good ghost/horror/spooky read. I can't wait to read more from this wonderful, intelligent, and highly talented new author. She REALLY knows her craft!
