Summary: Skip the first 250 pages.
Review: The first 250 pages I struggled to stay awake. The only exciting part during this was the rather funny Jim Gardener getting drunk incident. After the first 250 pages, the book gets better, but i cant say that it was the best King book. It was cool just cuz like you think wow what if that would really happen wouldnt that be cool, but personally i think that the book dragged on for far to long in the beginning. I like other King books better like the shining. Keep in mind that i am not a huge fan of sci-fi but if you are read this book.

Summary: Might have made an interesting short story
Review: I enjoyed some earlier King stuff, particularly some of his short story works; that's what this one sort of felt like...if it hadn't been several hundred pages long! This seemed to me to be King's attempt at science fiction; but being a science fiction fan I have to say this premise is weak - a buried ship (saucer shaped, of course, as King seems to be inexplicably and forever trapped in the 1950's, but hey why not?) is discovered by...country folk (another running theme). Proximity to this ship seems to have a strange effect on people which causes them to suddenly be programmed with alien knowledge which allows them to build devices using a bizzarre combination between alien technology and stuff you find in the garage. These alien inventions have interesting functions which generally result in killing/maiming the user and any poor sod who knows them. The end result of all this? About 600 wasted pages. I don't want to negate King, and I'm not saying I wouldn't mind seeing him try some other genres either, but this book just didn't cut it.

Summary: Far Out -- Way Far Out
Review: The farther that Stephen King's books stray from plausible reality, the weaker they often are. In addition to being WAY too long, "The Tommyknockers" suffers from a second half that stretches believability to the breaking point. The setup is effective, of course at this point the reader has no idea what is causing the increasingly horrific events in the town. The answer, as it unfolds, is a bit of a disappointment. Also, few of the many characters engender any sympathy. This is not one of King's better novels.

Summary: Every editor has an off day....
Review: Stephen King is one of my favorite authors, and his Dark Tower series is some of the most amazing fiction I've ever read. But this book should have been about 200 pages shorter, and the concept needed a lot of work. I'm actually glad I read it, because now I'm sure that I don't just blindly like his work - this one I definitely didn't like.

Summary: I LOVE GARD
Review: Tommyknockers has to be one of Kings GREATEST Books of all time. Where do I even begin? I love Bobbi and especially the endearing alcholic writer "Gard". The townspeople are great. The alien takeover is realistic and so so creepy. A spooky "discovery" in the woods, mysterious inventions, and a talking plastic Jesus combine to make this absolutley AWESOME. I can't say enough great things about it!

Summary: Good Idea, Bad Book
Review: While Stephen King's concept of an alien takeover was very interesting, the book in itself was pretty boring, especially the characters and action sequences. Probably would have been better with less description and more story.

Summary: The Tommyknockers
Review: I will probably be going against the apparently popular theme of these other reviews below, but I would have to say that this is a prime example of how I believe Stephen King's works are nothing much to acclaim. The Tommyknockers, as said in many past reviews, is basically about a town molded into a colony of alien like beings. As good as the premise might seem, I feel that the book is an overall poor conception, mainly due to the "cast" of characters is really nothing but mindless annoyances that no reader would even want to become acquainted with. In any novel, one should be able to feel for the characters in the book and should naturally not feel hatred toward them. This, unfortunately, is something too common in most of King's works. I, for one, did not enjoy this novel, and it will probably be the last of King's I will ever read.

Summary: Tommyknockers, knocking at the door!
Review: Tommyknockers was a great book, I really enjoyed it. Here, I'll tell ya about it.

When Bobbi finds a strange object in the woods, she gets a little obsessed about digging it up. Like forgetting to eat or sleep, when her friend, Jim or Gard as she calls him, comes to see here, she is really sick. He takes care of her, but after a while he notices that strange things are starting to happen to the rest of the town.

Summary: The Tommyknockers-Stephen King
Review: Simply put, what a great book this was. I just finished ittoday. It was my 7th complete Stephen King book. I can't believe howfast I went through it. I went through all 747 pages in a little less than 3 weeks. It was so intense to read. The description was great. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. For those who think that all of Stephen King's books are completely horror books and that's why you don't read them, well, you're wrong. This was hardly scary at all. It really was not scary at all, but don't get me wrong. It was an awesome book. I think that everyone should read this.

Summary: spell-binding the whole way through
Review: King creates a gripping tale of an unusual invasion in a small Maine town. He provides backgrounds for nearly every character introduced while still maintaining a nail-biting, page-turning, completely enthralling quality book. Our main character stumbles(literally) over a metal object buried in the woods on her property. She is called to it and begins to unearth it while undergoing physical and mental mutations. Soon the rest of the town becomes effected with startling and terrifying results. Excellent book.
