Summary: Scary book, good results
Review: A Reviewe by Lindsay

Pet Sematary is set in a little town in Maine where the main character, a young doctor named Louis Creed, moved with his family from Chicago. The story starts foo when Louis and his family follow their newly met elderly neighbor into the woods and are introduced to a pet cemetery. The pet cemetery is a cemetery where generations of children have buried their adored pets. As the story unfurls, Louis discovers a burial ground beyond the cemetery has just found out about. This other burial ground traps peoples' minds with its persuading, unexplainable powers. Deeper and deeper into the story you find out the scary secrets it holds and why it is so forbidden and why only one person knows about it.

One thing I liked about this book is the realism. Stephen King did an excellent job with his details. An example of this is in this excerpt: "He turned to her and hugged her, and Rachel gripped him with the panicky strength of a poor swimmer whose boat has suddenly overturned in the middle of a large lake." Precise details like that make you think that you are the one being hugged my his wife. The details really show you where you are, what you smell, what you see, what you taste and what you think. Another thing I liked about Stephen King's writing is how de describes the characters. An example: " He turned and saw an old man of perhaps seventy -a hale and healthy seventy- standing there on the grass. He wore biballs over a blue chambray shirt that showed his thickly folded and wrinkled neck. His face was sunburned and he was smoking an unfiltered cigarette." The characterizations that Stephen King described were very well-written and let you see the character and their personality as well.

My final recommendation is to anyone who likes scary, steady paced, and VERY suspenseful books that are realistic. Horror-lovers and readers who like suspense should definitely read this book. People who shouldn't read this book are the kind of people who don't like scary descriptions and realistic illustrations. I personally enjoyed this book very much and recommend it to anyone who likes Stephen King.

Summary: One of my favorite King books
Review: Pet Semetary is a total trip of a book. The plot is cool and spooky, the characters are pretty good, and there are some great late night walks through the woods with evil not far behind. I dig the whole supernatural revival from death idea- I suppose nearly everyone would like to live indefinitely but at what cost? King explores this thorny issue and I suppose concludes that there may be an unholy price to pay for immortality. At least in Pet Semetary. The movie wasn't too bad either; at least it was better than most movies of King's books. Avery Z. Conner, author of "Fevers of the Mind".

Summary: A new kind of Terror is in these pages
Review: This book is a masterpiece. Plain and simple. Not only is this book a masterpiece, but in my eyes, King's most terrifying novel. Stephen King has a way of writing every kind of novel possible, from love, to suspense to pure terror. I believe that this book has it all. For all that have seen the movie and have not read this masterpiece, you are missing out on an excellent story. Pet Sematary is scary enough just by reading the misspelled title. We get plunged into a world that can never end if only buried in a sacred spot, but is this a neverending world that we want to live in? This is a question that King makes you ask yourself all through this novel. King makes us feel for these characters and wonder what you would do if you were in a similar situation. The character development is perfect as it is in all of King's books. A major plus about this book is that King keeps you thinking and wondering through every page. When you think something is going to happen it doesnt, but when you least expect something, King will have you shaking. I could not put down this novel, even though I was scared to death from it. It pulls you in and doesnt let go. This is one of Kings best novels ever. Read this and I promise love from it, and even more terror.

Summary: VERY good book
Review: This is my first Stephen King book, and i loved it. It is about a family that moved into a new house in Ludlow (it is near Derry for you people that liked IT). They meet their neighbors and become good friends, but then when their cat gets hit by a truck and Jud,one of the neighbors, tells them about the Micmac Burying Grounds across the deadfall in the well known part of the Pet Sematary and they bury him there to get him back to life. One of the things that happens is the main charactor,Louis Creed, finds the cat,Church,on Christmas ripping out the eye of a well murdered crow. Church Kills animals while he is an animal. Hmmm... wonder what will heppen then they bury their baby boy,Gage,in the Micmac Burying Grounds.........

Summary: One of the best horror novels ever written.
Review: I've read Pet Sematary three times, and, being an avid Stephen King fan I am apt to say this is definitely his scariest book (followed close by The Shining). By making us care with very real characters, King makes us sad and horrified by the sense of unavoidable destruction of an happy, all-american family. We can't help but read while the characters make very unwise, yet very understandable choices.
Stephen King delivers in Pet Sematary a stunning performance, making this a very fast-paced story with no boring parts. Like in The Shining there is no conventional bad guy, but an evil place with evil purposes that corrupts people, like the poor Gage Creed, making the horror much more psichological than physical. So this is most definitely a must buy to all people looking for a great horror novel- you won't be disappointed!

Summary: Stephen's best horror novel
Review: Out of all of the novels of Stephen's, this has 2 B his absolute best novel I have ever read. Although I have seen the movie first and I knew what was going 2 happen, I still found it very hard 2 put down. It only took me five days 2 read. I think that the scariest part of this one is Zelda, Rachel's sister. She gave me nightmares not 2 B believed. I know that many of U out there have read many of Stephen's novels but if U haven't yet read this one, read it. I know U will N joy it.

Summary: Lazarus, come forth!
Review: Dr Louis Creed is uneasy as he drives his family, wife Rachel, children Eileen and Gage, and cat to their new home, a rambling white-frame house on the outskirts of Ludlow, New England. The children are tearful, Rachel is short-tempered. But the place is just perfect and the family meets Jud Crandall, an old and wily neighbour. He takes them exploring and shows them the Pet Sematary, where local children have buried their pets for generations. Only Eileen is slightly disgruntled. After all, her beloved cat is going to live for ever...

This horror story is so well-written that it simply must be classified as a 'Classic'. It has bone-chilling suspense, very convincing characters with 'real' emotions and a plot-line that cannot disappoint. Although the decisions Louis Creed takes are quite unconventional, Stephen King still succeeds in letting them seem quite the natural to do. Even while reading this book I was constantly wondering: "What should I do if confronted with such a situation?", and I guess that's a really good sign.

But there is much more... This book has a depth that reaches far beyond the average horror story. Like the author himself has confessed it showed him levels of blackness that he had "no desire to re-visit". And I could not agree more. The main theme is clearly "death", or to use the words of Zelda, the sister of Rachel: "Oz the Gweat and Tewwible". But Stephen approaches this theme in such a personal way that the reader is bound the get a bit uncomfortable. It sneakily whispers into your ears that death might actually not be as far in the future as you like to believe. This makes this book ever creepier. So, be prepared to be thrilled in more than one way.

Summary: Full of suspense!
Review: I saw this movie about 10 years ago and I wish I read the book first. The book was great though, except that I knew, for the most part what was going to happen.
This book is a quick read.. you'll be hooked in no time. At first you'll probably pause and think.. did he just do that? It's a great book full of suspense and drama. This is only my second Stephen King book but I'm looking forward to reading more.

Summary: Pet Sematary
Review: In this BBC dramatization of King's (Wizard and Glass, Audio Reviews, LJ 2/15/98) 1983 best seller, Dr. Louis Creed moves his ideal family from congested, urban Chicago to the rural simplicity of Ludlow, ME. His property sits near a long-established pet burial ground and a mysterious Indian burial ground from which the dead can be raised. The program effectively draws us into the characters' world: marriage and family, then shock, grief and madness as we explore the nature and mystery of death. Presenting a multivoiced dramatization rather than a reading of the novel, the actors work together, with added music and sound effects, to create King's macabre world. Recommended.'
