Rating: Summary: Great book on a touchy subject Review: Death is not an easy thing for anyone to deal with, not just the death of a person, but of cherished pets too. So what if you could bring a beloved family pet back? Would you be willing to call upon ancient cursed burial grounds? That is the question Steven King asks us. This novel is simply terrifying. What strikes me though, is King's trademark of putting slices of humanity into all of his books. I just about broke down crying when I read the part where Louis and Gage fly a kite. I don't know if King has any kids, but if he doesn't he sure knows what a good father-son relationship is like. Getting back to Pet Sematary, the morbid subject matter of ressurection will keep you turning pages well into midnight. I sat up reading it around 1:00 AM and didn't stop until I had read the last page. Then I didn't fall asleep until about 3:00 AM because I was so scared. Keep 'em coming Mr. King!
Rating: Summary: Scary! Review: While this book didn't seem as scary to me as it did to some people, it's still pretty scary. Basically, if you bury something in the burying ground behind the Pet Sematary it will come back to life, so Louis Creed couldn't resist the opportunity to do that when his young son died. Read it, it won't dissapoint you.
Rating: Summary: Sometimes it is better when you die Review: I recommend everybody this book who:- doesn't live in Ludlow - is not afraid of death - doesn't live next to a sematary Why have I give this book five stars, although the first two chapters are boring? Because the last chapter and the epilog will steal your breath. Why can't I sleep after reading this book? Because a dead relative could come into my house, he would put his cold hand on my shoulder, he'd have a sharp knife and............... well, get your own fears. You are NOT afraid of anything. Here is an advice! READ this book!
Rating: Summary: Great Story Review: This was my first Stephen King novel, and I couldn't put it down. I'm now looking for another, and after reading the reviews at amazon, I think I may have found "IT"!
Rating: Summary: King's Scariest Book Review: I really think this is King's spookiest book... What can be more scary than the dead returning to life...but CHANGED....I love the Creed family and the elderly neighbor. The neighbor's anecdotes about the pet cemetary are one of the scariest parts of the whole book. It is pure gothic and scary as hell.
Rating: Summary: Pet Sematary Review: Have you ever wanted to be scared? Well if so, you should readSteven King's Pet Sematary. This story is about a family that movedfrom the city to live in the suburbs. When they get there, they discovered that it was totally different than the city. After they adjusted to everything, they discovered that their neighbors are always watching them. They are always watching them because they know that something bad is going to happen to them. They know that because whoever lives in that house never stays there. The thing that I enjoyed most about this book is that it always makes you want to read more. I really enjoy that when a book makes you want to keep reading. Another reason why I like this book because it's scary. I love scary books. Those are the only kind of books that I read. Another reason why I'm reading this book is that it is better than the movie. In the book, it elaborated more than in the movie. Another reason is it told more in the book than in the movie. Another thing I enjoyed in the book is the characters. The characters in this book are very interesting. The most interesting character is their cat Church...I think other people should read this book because it is very interesting to read. Another reason is, before you see the movie you should read the book because you will not understand the movie because it is not the same as the book
Rating: Summary: Everyone Has On Off Day Review: I read this book over 15 years ago and was really disappointed. Especially after Carrie and 'Salems Lot and the awesome Night Shift. This book was just plain old boring. The action was not there. It was dull. And there were really no scares. Don't get me wrong. I love Kings stuff. Dolores Claiborne was dead-on. And I am looking forward to reading Atlantis.
Rating: Summary: How much would you give to make them come back? Review: Very good story with a handful of characters. Really scary sometimes. Do not watch a movie, enjoy the book. The idea explored is thrilling, indeed. This was one of the few times I have been distressed by a particular book of this sort. I still think about the way it ended. I imagine the feel of her hand. For some time after finishing the novel, I dream about it and wake up cold-sweating and trembling. Does that convince you to go and pick the book off the shelf? 'Pet Sematary' is the first King's approach of the issue of fulfilled dreams and desires. Here, these are connected with the death of the loved ones. Can something happen to make them come back alive, as if nothing happened? Yes, but.... Well, go for the book. In 'Needful Things' King extends this analysis to longings that are not this desperate - with different consequences for the "lucky" ones, who have theor dreams fulfilled. Quite a few King novels share particular literary details. One that stands out is the mantra that recurs throughout the book, like a motto. Usually it stays in our minds long after we put the book away. In 'Insomnia', the mantra is: done-bun-can't-be-undone. As if in a reference to 'Pet Sematary'. Yet another issue. The novel's oldtimer is a representative closed-mouthed Yankee, Stephen King's trademark.
Rating: Summary: Loved It! Review: This book was really, really good. I just can't believe how amazing the story is. I loved the detail, the plot...the whole thing! It's something completely different to other stuff I've read. Everything seems so real, and at the same time, you know that it's not possible. You just don't know what to think!
Rating: Summary: Dead is Dead. Review: Hi, this was the first Stephen King book I read, I read it when I was ten and I kept hearing noises and jumping ten feet in the air! Here's a little about it. When Dr. Louis Creed moves to a town in Maine, he never expected to have a Cemetary on his land. Let alone one where children buried their pets and had named it the Pet Sematary. But when his daughter's cat is killed and his neighbor takes him to bury it, he discovers that it is no normal cemetary. That maybe death is not forever. When Louis's son, Gage is struck and killed by a semi, can Louis resist it's power?
