Rating: Summary: one of mccammon's best!!!!! Review: i have read all of robert mccammon's books and besides they thirst and swan song, this is among my favorite. he pulls you into his story and doesn't let you go til you cry uncle!!!!! boy's life is about that magical time of youth when you have not yet been pushed over the edge to the oxymoronic world called "real life".
Rating: Summary: I've read many a book, and this one is by far the best. Review: The only thing that stunk about this book was that it came to an end. Thank you Robert, for such an incredible book that recaptures the childhood imagination so vividly. Incredible.
Rating: Summary: Quite good, really displays life how it is. Review: McCammon is a wonderful storyteller and really piqued my interest in several matters that the reading of this book brought up. Life is portrayed so differently in Cory's world yet really it is all the same as our's. Brilliant, though I thought some of the language went overboard, while other interjections were necessary.
Rating: Summary: A page-turing mystery Review: "Boy's Life", by Robert McCammon, is written to capture a child's dreams. Beginning in 1964, in a town called Zephyr, Alabama, a young boy named Cory Mackenson is about to face a grim reality, along with the sterotypical, safe, small town. One Sunny morning, Cory goes along to help his father deliver milk, but the route is never completed, creating a mystery that will put interminable scars on the souls of every person in Zephyr. Realizing that the ordinary troubles in their lives, as of now, are of no importance, the entire town comes together, pondering, who was that man that sunk the car in our lake? Who is the man that is still down under the water, belted to his seat? McCammon captures the life a young boy, truly capable to arouse the inner most feelings in a grown man as he looks back on the magic of his childhood. In a world of possibilities, adventures, promises and magic, it doesn't seem that a gruesome murder would fit in the picture. With the setting of Zephyr, Alabama, representing so many of the small towns across America, the residents and readers will wake up with a different perspective on life. Read this outstanding book, it will answer those questions you were always afraid to ask.
Rating: Summary: This actually deserves 6 stars!! Review: A brilliant, beautiful, inspiring work. Everyone owes it to themselves to read this book. It will stay with you for a long time.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Book! Review: I will make this as short as possible. I just finished reading Boy's Life and must admit that I had tears in my eyes when I was done. It was one of the most wonderfully written books I have ever read. It was interesting as well as clever. Don't let the title fool you.....it is written for everyone, male or female, black or white, young or old. You should be proud of yourself Mr. McCammon, you have captured magic in your hands.
Rating: Summary: One of the best! Review: This book brings you back to the wonder years of being a kid; the beauty of summers, camping with friends and growing up in a small town. I read this book four times and I'm sure I'll reread every year or so. Couldn't put it down. It's a 'feel-good' book that makes you realize the simple pleasures of life. Strongly recommend!
