Rating: Summary: A tantalizing boy's life, which could also be a girl's. Review: Girls, ladies, women. Don't be put off by the title of this wonderful story of a young storyteller's coming of age, as the author says "it's a girl's life, too." Go with him as he and his friends fly, see ghosts, grapple with an abusive teacher, meet the sweetest pitcher ever, and solve the crime of the century in his little town -- or do they?
Rating: Summary: Spellbounding mystery about a boy that steals your heart Review: It's wonderful, how some stories get a spell on you... This one is my all-time favourite. The story about Cory is so heart capturing and so deeply touching, that you can't put it down. It makes you want to go back to your own childhood, it makes you remember things that you forgot, things that you thought were gone. It makes you want to be carefree and innocent and open-minded again... When I finished the book, I felt a deep longing and a lost of something that I couldn't put a word on... My deepest thanks to R. McCammon who wrote this amazing tale, and my best wishes to all the people out there who's got a little Cory in their hearts...
Rating: Summary: This is one of the top ten sf/fantasy books of all time. Review: You can't really classify the book as mainstream fiction, fantasy, or science fiction. Boy's Life is a masterpiece, and should be required reading from junior high age to retired folks. Just an absolutely wonderful story. Read this book and discover the wonder again.
Rating: Summary: An Awe Inspiring Tale, Impossible To Put Down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This book will make you believe. Make you believe in innocence. In good. In evil. It will take you down into the very depths of the human soul. It will make you take a better look at yourself. It will make you remember child hood strife, the smell of a summer afternoon, and your first encounter with a mystery. This book is probably one of the best books written in the 1990's. It's not horror, it's not fantasy, it's entertainment. This is everything a novel should be. A classic. If you haven't read it yet put it on your list of things to do. Simply awesome.

Rating: Summary: What a great read!! Review: What a wonderful fantasy story. This is the first book I have read by McCammon and I was totally enthralled. I love the fantasy thrown in from Old Moses to the dinosaur. It takes you back to a time when life was simpler (or so you think!!) Truly a great story.
Rating: Summary: Good, but I wouldn't say Great. Review: While I really enjoyed reading Boy's Life, I was not as swept up as most of the readers here (or as swept up as the person that loaned me the book). It was a good story, or I suppose, a good set of smaller stories. Each one was gripping, but some were just a little far-fetched. And I suppose that is my main "problem" with the book. I use the quotes to perhaps de-emphasize the word. But for all the wonderful writing about boyhood, and some of the more realistic treatments of fantasy, the truly far-fetched stories and overall neatness of the plot took a little away from the beautiful images. Don't get me wrong, it's worth the read.
Rating: Summary: Read this book! A true treasure Review: It was beautiful. It was satisfying. McCammon has a way of getting in touch with his young characters in a way which is very reminisent of Stephen King. His skillful storytelling mixes so many worlds and issues like racism, agism, the mystical, ecomonics, war, etc. You never hear him preaching but you get the message he is trying to send.
Rating: Summary: Super summer read book worthy of being reread. Review: This was the first book in a long time I was able to encourage other people to read, knowing they would enjoy it as much as I did. From the beginning of the story where father and son witness the end result of a murder to the conclusion, the reader is caught up in the changing times of a small southern town and its people during the 50's. The author presented several stories within a story, with all loose ends tied up at the end. Good vs evil can always make for good story telling. This is a story I would love to see brought to the big screen.
Rating: Summary: Magical, mystical, and magnificent! Review: As an eighth grade English teacher, my most difficult mission is to have students metamorph into active readers. To accomplish this, I am constantly adding to my personal classroom library, searching for well-crafted novels in an effort to lure students into the powerful realm of literature. This year, I decided to pick books geared toward boys, and on my jaunt, I stumbled across Boy's Life on an off-the-cuff recommendation; what a treasure I unearthed. Unfortunately, the thickness of Boy's Life deterred me and any student from reading it. By the year's end, with its spine intact, I found myself casting the novel in my pile of books to read over the summer. Soon enough, however, I found myself clutched in the arms of the pages, and I could not put Boy's Life down. The tale of Cory MacMackenson's journey through boyhood, all that he encountered, whether fascination or terror or basic boyish thrill, was captured in artistry detail and a brilliant craft of language. No person should go to "the other world across the river" without soaking up the words Robert McCammon has strung together in this magical masterpiece.
