Summary: Do not read
Review: This is one of the most pointless books I have ever read. All it is is a bunch of short stories, all mostly bad, combined into one, to make one big bad story. It is portrayed as an emulation of part of the author's childhood, but you can tell it was all fictional. It jumps from topic to topic, and each section is worse than the one before. McCammon gives away the murderer halfway through the book, and when he officially announces the murderer, there is no point in reading after that because the ending is utterly horrible. It is the same old type of ending. So, as I say in the title, please do not read this book.

Summary: An adolencenses opinion on Boy's life
Review: I am a student at Missouri Military Academy in Mexico Missouri. For our English class we are reading the novel "Boy's Life" I though highly of the book, it was very entertaining. It symbolized (to me) simplicity and innocence. It was such a perfect town, everybody knew everybody else. Kids got on their bikes and went on campouts. It brought out utopia of American Civilizations. I think the reason Robert McCammon added the whole murder mystery in it was to show that no matter how great everything is, there is always a flaw.

I loved how Robert McCammon added the child's point of view into the story and how he put a touch of child magic (imagination) into writing it. Truthfully I recommend this book to all people, for any age.

To me the most interesting part of the book was how McCammon made himself be a child when he wrote this book. To me I wish I still had my magic with me, and it makes me sad to say that I almost forgotten how great it was being a child and pretending and imagining manifestations of my own mind. If any parents are reading this review right now, encourage your children to use their imagination and not to give up there magic. I know I still have magic in me, it's just buried to deep for me to find. Everyone still has the magic. It's just buried deep within the snow.

Summary: Mark Twain
Review: Boys Life. It is an English teachers dream. What parts are autobiographful? Why? Throw in a dozen "stand alone" chapters, and I think Boys Life is on a par with any required reading book at the undergraduate level. Write on Robert.

Summary: A book like no other!
Review: This book is unlike anything you have read before or will read again. The closest thing to compare it with would be a hybrid of PRINCE OF TIDES and DANDELION WINE. I cannot say enough good things about this book. I would urge anyone that want to relive the wonder , innocence, longing and fears of being a child. I rarely read a book more than once. Yet, I find myself going back to the magical prose of this book year after year. Buy 2 copies one to keep and one to share. For you will surely want to pass this remarkable book onto a friend. This book will allow you to relive the childhood you always wanted, the time when we could still see magic in the world

Summary: My Childhood Revisited
Review: This book is by far a masterpiece of ingenuity. Whatever biases one develops throughout adulthood is lost as this rich book takes you back to your childhood days of fantasy and innocence. I've read this book at least 5 times and it keeps getting better. The author is an excellent storyteller. The characters are colorful and the story line is a beautiful weave of plot and mystery. 5 stars is not good enough. This book is inimitable.

Summary: No More!
Review: How sad I am to learn that in November 1999 Robert McGammon announced retirement and will not pen another book. His web page has also been closed. Ever since 'Boys Lfe' I have waited for another McGammon book to reach out and touch me like this one did. My paperback copy made the rounds at work and everyone who read it felt that it touched the child, long lost, inside each one of us. The world has lost a brillant author!

Summary: A new favorite
Review: Out of all the books I've ever read over the years, none of them have ever been like Boys Life. Robert McCammon not only was able to write something full of mystery and drama, he was also able to put into perspective what it means to be a kid. So many people forget what being a child is all about as they grow older, this book helps bring back part of what they lost. Anyone who wants to remember what it's likle to be 12 years old again should definately read this book.

Summary: Is it worth all the hype?
Review: One day I was just sitting around looking through the different reviews on amazon.com, and I happened to stumble across "Boy's Life" by Robert McCammon. These reviews just seemed too good to be true. People wrote things like "My Favorite Book Of All Time! " and "McCammons BEST! " But what really turned me on about this book, was all the reviews from teachers, that wanted to help their students not to lose the magic of being a kid

Then there were the bad reviews. Like "One Long Bore!" It seemed that the bad reviews stated that the Plot was not very interesting, and McCammon did not stick tightly to his plot.

Well let me tell you, It IS worth the hype! Never before have I found characters that you can truly care about. You can tell that McCammon truly loves his characters, and he makes you love them right along with him. This is not a plot based book. Although I thought the plot was extremely exiting, the message that this book had was worth far more.

It is a book about not losing the magic of being a kid. Cory Mackenson is told this toward the middle of the book in a dream by his dead teacher. 'No one really grows up. Even the strongest man alive, is still just a scared little boy behind all that human clay. Deep down inside, Adults still want to know that they have a mommy and daddy that will take care of them. They still want to be free to go swimming with their friends down at the local swimming hole. But that heavy human clay holds them back.' It is so true.

But the message this book brings out, is that you dont have to lose the magic of youth. It is still there inside every single one of us. We just need to rediscover the magic! I hope that mabey one day, we will hear from Mr. McCammon again, and be able to have another one of these precious jewels. I will treasure this book always!

Summary: Beautiful
Review: I am so happy that just about everyone loves Boy's Life - it is one of the most beautiful stories (or rather, several of the most beautiful stories) I have ever read. Like so many other readers, this story took me through a range of emotions. It flows from genre to genre like silk and is impossible to classify. I just love this book - it is a fresh, wonderful experience in the world of fiction. I think many writers would be too scared to write a book like this, but Robert McCammon was not scared, and I am very grateful. Anything McCammon writes is good - it is wonderful to have a writer like him in the world of horror fiction (where he is much needed) and for books like this one.
