Rating: Summary: A suspenseful thriller that doesn't totally thrill you Review: In Lois Duncan's "Don't Look Behind You", I did not expect an excellent novel, but perhaps a little mystery tied in with some suspense. At times the novel had high points with me on the end of my chair, and others I found myself dozing off. All in all it was okay. I love her other story "Killing Mr. Griffin", and I enjoyed that novel completely. My enjoyment in that book lead to my interest in reading some of her other work, unfortunately to find out it was not as good. The story had a big deal with teenagers and their lives, which added to my interest in this novel. The story just wasn't that good. Not so much for a specific reason. It just did not grab my attention like many mystery novels can, and have done so in the past. A young girl was forced to move right before her senior year having to leave her friends, boyfriend, and daily activities. The move was part of a relocation program in which she had to leave everything behind and even change her name and everything about her. The drastic life change was because the girl's father was involved in a drug case, and so many people wanted him dead. She never wanted to leave her regular life, so she tries to find ways to get it back. This story is more for a middle school childs interest, but everyone is different with many different interests. This story was okay.
Rating: Summary: Not too bad Review: Well, I have read a couple books by Lois Duncan. Don't look behind was, in my opinion, the best one she's ever written and i gave her a 6. I suppose her books appeal to younger readers. I have found many holes in this book. For example i would imagine better security provided for the Corrigan family and i thought that Mike Vamp would be more thorough. It was quite unrealistic. I highly recommend one of Christopher Pike's older books.
Rating: Summary: The Best Thriller I Have Ever Read!! Review: The second I picked this book up, I could not put it down! I've read a lot of suspense novels, but "Don't Look Behind You" is the best yet! I would reccomend this book to anyone who loves a good thriller. Good work, Lois Duncan!!
Rating: Summary: A suspense that makes you realize the dangers in your world! Review: I am not a big fan of reading, but one person I am a fan of is Lois Duncan. She is a great suspense author, and DON'T LOOK BEHIND YOU is one of her bests. I am only 12, and this novel was frieky!... This is only a start to my love of Duncan. Where should I start next?
Rating: Summary: Great Book!!!!!!!! Review: I had to read this for shcool, too, and it was great!!! I would reccomend it to anyone that loves thrillers!
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT DOWN Review: I HAD TO READ THIS BOOK FOR SCHOOL AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE AWESOME. IT'S ABOUT A GIRL NAMED APRIL CORRIGAN WHOSE FATHER TESTIFIES AGAINST A DRUG DEALER. AFTER A HITMAN ATTEMPTS TO KILL APRIL'S FATHER THEY ARE PUT INTO THE WITNESS PROTECTION PROGRAM. I LIKED IT BECAUSE IT WAS VERY SUSPENSEFUL I GOT IN TROUBLE A FEW TIMES FOR READING AHEAD BECAUSE OF THE NON-STOP ACTION. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECCOMEND THIS BOOK TO ALL OF MY FRIENDS
Rating: Summary: Very Gifted Writer Review: I read this book in seventh grade for a book report and it freaked me out. MY name IS April Corrigan. It is so odd because my name is not very common. I have tried writting to Louis Duncan, but the letter was returned. This was a very good book, which led me to read almost all of her other books. Louis Duncan is a very gifted writer, and keeps her readers in thrall.
Rating: Summary: This book is a fun filled mystery. Review: Don't look behind you is about a young women, whose dad was a witness to a murder. Now the man who was convicted of the murder is out to kill the family. The family is on the run, leaving everything behind having to start a new life.
Rating: Summary: Don't Look Behind You Review: I thought this was a very entertaining book. This book is full of suspense and keeps you on the edge of your seat. This book kept me wanting to read more.
The story was somewhat sad because April had to leave behind a good life, good friends, and a good lifestyle. What made this harder for her is that she loved her life and never got the chance to say good bye. She couldn't call, visit, or write to anyone because if she did she would pretty much have handed her dad over to the hit man without a fight. Since April is a teenager, so she over exaggerates and doesn't think before she acts. For example when she wrote her boyfriend a letter she didn't even think about how the hit man could trace her letter to where her family was hiding. Once the family was visited by the hit man April realized it was her fault that he found her.
I enjoyed this book because it kept you thinking about what would happen next and would they have another encounter with the hit man. This book had great description and made it feel like you were right there in the middle of the action. I thought Lois Duncan did a great job with this book even though it's not my favorite one of hers. I thought this was still a great book because she writes about suspense in a way that makes you wanting to know more.
For these reasons I give this book four stars
Rating: Summary: This book is NOT for 6th graders! Review: This book is violent, some bad language & has some steamy parts that are not discussed on publishing websites that review the book.
The characters are largely caught up in their own problems and whine and complain most of the way through the book, the parents to the kids.
If you don't mind your 11 year old reading about a grandmother describing how it felt when a thug broke her arm or how they found a man shot in the head and stuffed in a closet, or a teen getting drunk from a punch called "suicide" then groped by a guy at a party with then you'll probably have not problem with this book.
For 14 year old readers and up, maybe, but it's disturbing to me that classrooms with 6th graders are reading Lois Duncan books.
