Summary: thriller
Review: I am only 12 years old but I read this book and it is my all-time favorite book. when you start it you cant put it down

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Engaging on many levels
Review: I wasn't sure if I wanted to read a book based on spousal abuse, but the more I got to know Rosie, the more I hated Norman and just had to keep on reading. I found it empowering to be on Rosie's side - as she found her empowerment in the painting. The painting evokes so much emotion from Rosie...and the mythological symbolism of the minotaur, the labyrinth, the river of forgetfulness, the Demeter/Persephone pomegranate allusion...brings so much clarity to the levels on which the story can be read. I am sure I will reread it - if nothing else to be able to put Norman to rest again, as that felt really good (but I have to admit I wished he was caught by the police and suffered in the real world - but the punishment in that wouldn't be as capital as the painting's). The end - where Rosie trips with her own madness...very scary. It's amazing how some cycles perpetuate.

Summary: Thrilling and Spellbinding
Review: I really enjoyed this book. I am only fouteen years old and this is the first HUGE novel I have ever read and my choice - I think - was spectacular. Stephen King has a peerless imagination. This book was witty and intriguing. I loved the way women's feelings were expressed and introduced.

Summary: I'm being generous with 3 stars.
Review: The story was long and boring. I chugged through the last 100 pages in a day because I was dieing to read The Shining. I thought it was going to be good so I picked it up off the shelf in the store instead of Dolores Claiborne BIG MISTAKE! This was the worst King book I have ever read. I will never read it again. If your thinking of reading a Stephen King book do not read this one first. You may be turned off from his books for good. I kind of enjoyed the fantasy element. I recommend not to read this book and read The Shining or It two GREAT examples of great novels. This is not your every day King book but then again are any.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I would love to see a movie version of this book.
Review: This novel by King would be the perfect movie. It has suspense and horror enough for everyone. When Rosie walks out on her husband, Norman, you expect him to find her right away. It is the best novel by King ever.

Summary: A very very good book
Review: When in the 1996 I bought this book, I didn't finish it. Well, two weeks ago I restarted it, and i finished in 5 days. It was creepy, and very good. The story is very interesting, and I think it's one of the best book written by mister King, maybe one of the best in the world. But, sincerely, until now I didn't found bad books of the master.

Summary: I Love Everything About It.
Review: ROSE MADDER was the best book I've ever read. My sister and I read the book along with the audio cassette recordings. We totally got into the story. The closer Norman got to finding her, the more we got scared for Rose. I could even see the world that Rose stepped into through the painting, right down to the smell of the river. Absolutely brillient!

Summary: this is an unforgetable book
Review: out of all of the king books that i have read this was the most spellbinding, unforgetable, and emotional book yet. when reading the book i could feel rose's pain and heartache. ROSE MADDER is by far one of the greatest books i've read.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Excellent story except for the climax
Review: The first three quarters of this book are excellent. Briefly, it is a story of how and why Rose Daniels escaped from her violent and psychotic husband, a detective inspector. Her dangerous husband tracks her down whilst losing his mind. Whilst detective Norman Daniels sometimes appears to possess superhuman powers the first part of the story is plausible. However, the book then takes a turn into complete fantasy as the tables turn and Rose takes revenge on her husband. I rate this book 3 stars because it started out well but then twisted to utter unrealism and disappointment just when it the plot was becoming exciting. In that regard Rose Madder is similar to Stephen King's IT.

There are a couple of parts of the story which I found very funny (to the extent that I started laughing out loud -- not something that I usually do when reading). Such as Norman's reason for disagreement with the sticker 'Women are not funny'.

On the other hand, there are some traits of Stephen King's stories which become annoying such as when lyrics are persistently quoted at inappropriate times. This also contributes to the just-above-average rating.

Summary: Excellent, youre a fool if you dont read this
Review: Well what can I say? Im not really that much of a SK fan as all his novels seem to be about writers with writing blocks but this was excellent, it didnt really posses the SK flavour but i loved it all the same..you MUST read this
