Rating: Summary: Are we getting a sequel? Review: This was the first book of Laurell Hamilton's that I read and I have to say that it is my favorite. The only gripe I have with it is that there isn't a sequel. I think that this book is on par with her Anita Blake series.
Rating: Summary: Much better then I expected Review: I was greatly pleased with this book, although in Keleios I see a half-elven Anita Blake, and the some of the plot is a little murky espically when Keleios agrees to be Lothor's consort in the middle of the attack on the magical "college" where they're at. One thing I would have liked to have seen was a second book with her. She ended it nicely but to me it looked like she could have written another chapter at least to tie up ALL the strings at the end.
Rating: Summary: Good, not great Review: Too confusing and not enough of a decent plot. Also, the transition of the relationship between the Nightseer and Lothor was wayyyy too sudden. Laurell's done better.
Rating: Summary: Not a vampire in sight! Review: Unlike her Anita Blake series, there was not a vampire in sight. It was an exciting adventure through a magical realm. While this begs for a sequel, it did not leave you totally hanging like so many other authors. If I ever grow up, I want to be like Laurell.
Rating: Summary: Good detective story with added soft porn Review: I've been following the Anita Blake series and have recommeded them to a few friends. The main protagonist is a strong female who does not pull her punches in a world of supernatural forces made flesh. The earlier books in the series had her as a fallible human winning against impossible odds. As the series develops she becomes more super-human, and as a result becomes less easy to identify with. This lastest offering in the series has turned Anita Blake into a super-heroine who has Vampire Masters grovelling at her knees, and as a result weakens the true strength of the stories. We also get sub-plots of soft pornography with Jean-Claude and the werewolves. I do not know whether to look forward to or dread the next one. I prefered Anita Blake as a human. Am I in the minority?
Rating: Summary: Excellent, a new approach to the fantasy genre Review: A fasinating look into a mystical world, that will keep you asking for more. The story is fast paced and well plotted. Laurell K. Hamilton is superb writer with an instict for suspense.
Rating: Summary: Magic, Love, Lust, War ... 'nuff said? Review: I've read and reread this book, like a really good movie. I just wish my copy wasn't so ... well used looking. Laurell, if you're reading, we're all begging for a sequel.
Rating: Summary: A Great Story, A Must-Read!!!! Review: This story is one full of action, an incredible plot, a classicly told good vs evil, and characters that reach out and grab you! Keleios is a dynamite girl. I was lucky enough to find an /excellent/ copy of it, and have lent it many times. May you be as fortunate!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Fast-paced read with strong and interesting characters Review: I truly enjoyed this book from the first page to the last. LKH paints a vivid tapestry of characters and the world in which they live. My only complaint would be that the book feels like it should be the second in a trilogy - so much is hinted at and so many possibilities for a continuation(s?) evolve. If a prequel or follow-up were ever published, I'd snap it up without a second thought.
Rating: Summary: Excellent novel with an ending the asks for a sequel. Review: I, too, was lucky enough to purchase the novel new and have lent it to many friends. Everybody, even non-fantasy readers, enjoy the action and the brief, but thorough, descriptions of the lesser characters. Hopefully Ms. Hamilton will not leave us hanging indefinately and will pen a sequel in the near future.
