Rating: Summary: A Good Start Review: I bought this book because I had to read all of Ms. Hamilton's work. I thought the book had a good story and I would love for this book to be expanded into a series. I think some of the negative reviews are due to the fact that we were gradually introduced to Anita Blake and had time to sort out who was involved, their powers and what they meant to Anita. Nightseer sort of thrusts all of its info into a few hundred pages. There are multiple possibilities for more books about Keleois and her people. If you like Anita Blake, I think you'll like her precursor as well.
Rating: Summary: perfectly dreadful Review: Although I am not a great fan of Hamilton's Vampire Hunter series, I did like A Kiss of Shadows (call it soft porn if you like--it was still a good interesting read; magic in our midst is a perfectly respectable fantasy scenario). I picked up Nightseer, hoping that it would have some of that same imaginative fun feel to it. Sadly, it does not. I can only theorize that Hamilton wrote Nightseer while she was in high school and just warming up as a writer. It is plotless, and in the end, just plain boring. I wish I'd skipped it.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK WAS TERRIBLE!! Review: I HAVE READ ALL OF LAURELL K. HAMILTON'S BOOKS AND HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPOINTED IN ANY OF THEM. IN FACT QUITE THE OPPOSITE....I WOULD RECOMEND ALL HER BOOKS TO ANYONE. BUT "NIGHTSEER" IS NOT EVEN WORTH GRADING IF I HAD TO I WOULD GIVE IT A F-. KELEIOS IS A PROPHET. IT TAKES PLACE IN A DIFFERENT LAND. AND THE WHOLE THING IS JUST VERY CONFUSING FROM THERE.
Rating: Summary: 1st times a charm Review: I have read all of Laurell K Hamilton's work and I must say that this, her 1st work really surprized me. I hope that in the future she would write more about these characters since one of the main plot points is still unresolved. This is an admirable 1st work.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Story Review: Nightseer was a read well worth the time. Hamilton does an excellent job of stringing together a facinating world populated with interesting people. While Nightseer is clearly an early effort on the part of the author of the famed, and more polished, "Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter" series, it is still a decent story, lacking only an ending to be wonderful. If pointless cliffhangers leave you frustrated and cross, I would advise that you skip this.
Rating: Summary: My goodness... Review: Yet again Laurell K. dazzles us with a snappy heroine that is, on her own, a never-ending puzzle. I loved the realism in the book and the fact that she doesn't seem to hesitate in killing off or introducing unpopular characters. She has a way with words that will steal your breath as you struggle against all outside influences to finish the book in one sitting. The plot is so gripping that until I read the book again, I didn't notice that she left quite a few loose ends for the reader to chew on. My only question is that with so many cliffhangers, where is the sequel?! I mean, in the Anita Blake series you have 3 or 4 plots going on at once, but they are always resolved at the end, with the exception of her boyfriends. This leads me to conclude there MUST be an ending to this book somewhere, that ties up all the ends and gives the reader the satisfaction of knowing what happened to who. Miss Hamilton, if you read this, please publish it!!!
Rating: Summary: Outstanding!! Review: As a huge fan of Laurell K Hamilton and her Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series and her newest venture the Meredith Gentry novels I am proud to say that Ms Hamiltons earlier work does not dissapoint, in truth is shows the true craftmanship and talent that Ms Hamilton has as an author and great storyteller.<... Laurell K Hamilton has gone on to write such bestsellers as Guilty Pleasures, Obsidian Butterfly, Narcissus in Chains, Kiss of Shadows and her newest A Caress of Twilight, but the roots of all these magical, sensual, erotic, horrific suspense filled novels can be found in her early work "Nightseer". Here we see the true blossoming of Ms Hamiltons unique style and blend of true fantastical creativity. Nightseer was not a bestseller and so no sequel was forthcoming. However, perhaps with enough good will and publicity we will one day see the triumphant return of Keleios and Lothor... another couple of light and dark, that which Ms Hamilton explores and creates to perfection.
Rating: Summary: Dear Laurell, write sequel now!! Review: I loved this book, but I am getting perturbed that a sequel has not been written yet. I mean come on, you write 10 books about Anita Blake, so you could most likely write one more book about this one. It is unjust to leave your readers hanging with the ending of "Nightseer" left in the air. I have been waiting for like years now for the sequel, and I am starting to loose hope.
Rating: Summary: The odd one out Review: I enjoyed this book, although I did find it a bit slow in the beginning. One thing I have to say about Laurell, she does know how to make her characters come alive and Keleois is no exception. I only have one criticism about the story and that is although there is high adventure and emotion, it always seems that I should have read a previous book to aquire the history as it pertained to the characters and their relationships with each other. Example, why is she so set against Lothor and why does she have that much bad blood with Nesbit? Other than that it was an enjoyable read however many times you read it. One question, is there ever going to be a Sequal????
Rating: Summary: I WANT MORE!! Review: This book is in my growing collection of Fantasy novels that I do re-read whenever the urge hits me. I am saddened that she has not written a follow-up for this novel due to the wondrous character development and plot twists she delievered were marvelous! I'm also dying to find out about how the black healer and the main character flesh out in the next novel, but alas I fear this will not happen. PLEASE, MS. HAMILTON WRITE ANOTHER BOOK TO THIS SERIES JUST TO PUT US OUT OF OUR MISERY!!
