Summary: Unreadable
Review: ...This website wouldn't let me rate lower than one star. Too bad. One full star is misleading. Everyone who rated this higher owes me a book!!!
This is a case study in why Amazon ratings are completely corrupted. Every time a real review is posted, the author galvinizes her friends to post several bogus 5 star ratings to save this book from the true rating it deserves. Come on author - cowboy up and take it on the chin. Don't skew the truth. Tell your friends and family to back off. You think we don't know what's going on? I READ your work.

The quality of writing in this book was terrible, the characters unbelievable, the dialog even worse. I suppose there was a plot meandering through this mess, but I gave up before I found it. I should have known when there was a posting reminding readers that the punctuation and rammer problems were corrected in this version.
Other readers mention the humor in this book. Other than hackneyed throw away lines stolen from movies I read nothing intentionally humorous. If this was a great romp in the writer's mind, she left it there, because it wasn't on paper.

Gritting my teeth, I managed to make to to page 110. Then I wondered why I was torturing myself...
I suggest to the writer that if she's going to use an S&M club as a setting, she should research it and at least get the basics right.

Summary: Something to take the edge off your Anita Blake craving
Review: Although this book still needs some editing touches, I was very pleasantly surprised by it. Hoffman writes an emotional, intense book with a fascinating mixture of human and vampire powers. She has her own version of vampire lore which makes a great deal of sense, and the story itself is intriguing. The characters are believable and their angst (and there's a lot of it) becomes your own. Hopefully in the next book she goes a little deeper when them, because sometimes it seemed as if we did not know them all that well. It is fast-paced, exciting, sometimes frustrating, erotic, amusing, and occasionally touching. The Reilly clan is a very real family, complete with love, anger, and understanding. I highly recommend reading this book if you have any interest in vampire novels or horror novels.

Summary: I didn't expect to like it this much
Review: Amy Reilly is definitely a wild child, after a night at an S & M club gone really bad, she nearly dies, she takes a good look at her life and sees a need for a change. She is a bit agoraphobic with good reason. She doesn't know whether the vampire that attacked her at the club realizes that she is still alive, and she intends to stay that way. Her two roommates out at a club run into her attackers and another vampire and his thrall and the secret is out. Amy's life definitely takes a new turn when she is "saved" by Lorcan the vampire. The new vampire's thrall seems very familiar to Amy and she doesn't know why. The subplots of Amy's brother Paul and his pregnant wife Marcie, and Jake the thrall and Amy's best friend Sophie are equally interesting. I can't wait to find out more about the "faerie godmother" who reappears throughout the novel. An unexpectedly good read.

After reading the advisory on the back of this book and the first chapter, I wasn't sure whether I was going to like this novel. I was wrong. In spite of some objectionable ideas, the book was hard to put down. The characters are particularly well drawn and the action never stops, I will definitely look for the sequel.

Summary: More realistic than the average
Review: An incredible read. For someone who has read many of the genre this book was refreshing. This book is a little darker than the normal vampire romantic fiction and extremely well written. Anxiously awaiting the second book in the series. Kudos to Ms. Hoffman.

Review: Blood Is Thicker Than Water is the first book in the Reilly Vampire Chronicles from Wynette A. Hoffman and it is a story any vampire fan will love.

Amy Reilly has some very dangerous friends. Amy is unable to feel pleasure and as a result, experiences pain as pleasure. This little quirk has brought her to S&M and a very dangerous, degenerate vampire. Through help from an unknown source, Amy survives her encounter, but she is changed. Her sadistic vampire has marked her for death and is not happy she has survived.

Luckily for Amy, fate in the form of a Celtic goddess named Ceredwyn is on her side. Into this mix of characters is Paul, Amy's brother and his pregnant wife Marcie; Lorcan, a 2000-year-old vampire; Jake, his thrall and an ancestor of Amy and Paul's; and Sophia, Amy's best friend.

This intrepid cast of characters is thrust into vampire politics and is hard pressed to survive. Hoffman has created an unforgettable story that will keep readers guessing until the end. Her vampire's are wonderful, lusty creatures that need more then blood to survive. Lorcan is a very intriguing, heroic vampire who doesn't just sweep Amy off her feet. They save each other from certain death. This alone makes the story very intriguing.

Summary: Very surprised, excellent story! Could not put it down!
Review: I am in the process of reading the last page of this book, and I was surprised how much I liked it. I have read the southern vampire series, all the Anita Blake books, Anne Rice, Tanya Huff and many lesser-known authors. I have been reading vampire novels for 19 years, and I have rarely found books that pique my interest as much as this book. And the LENGTH of the book is a definite plus. I love long books that keep up the action and the suspense. It can be hard to pull off. (See Anne Rice's The Witching hour as a long book that was painful to read!)

The characters are fun. The story is entertaining! I wish the cover art could have been better. All in all, I am hoping she writes the second book fast so I can read the continuing adventures of the Reilly family.

I think this story has been swimming inside the head of Wynette for a very long time, and the characters show this depth very well. As another reviewer stated, "Move over Anita!"

Summary: A Different Kind of Vampire?
Review: I just finished reading "Blood Is Thicker Than Water "and was blown away by the sheer force of it. Wow or correct me double Wow -- this book has it all from family values to very kinky sex. Lots of villains here but good usually triumphs over evil and you just don't want to miss the exciting pace of this novel, as it's coming at you fast and furiously from all over the place. You never know what's gonna happen next.

I don't know where Ms. Hoffman came from but I can't wait for her to continue this magnificent story of the Reillys as I just have to find what's gonna happen next. Ms. Hoffman don't make me wait too long!!! But I'd rather wait than have something less than the perfection you've already created.
