Rating: Summary: If you've read "watchers", you've basically read this book. Review: With the exception of the lead character having a physical disability, this book is pretty much the same as "Watchers". Koontz even made the two animals characters the same, one a super intelligent dog who is definitely man's best friend, the other a rage-filled monkey and his buddies intent on killing all humans. The writing is way too verbose, with Koontz over-describing everything from the color of the leaves on the trees to the way the wind blows through the grass. He could have cut out about 50 pages and it would have been the same book. I'm a big Koontz fan, and I'd have to say, don't bother.
Rating: Summary: I Liked it!!! Review: This was my 2nd Koontz novel and I'm hooked. Orson was definately my favorite character. I'm now looking at my two Golden's a little differently now! Looking forward to my next Koontz read.
Rating: Summary: not worth the time or money Review: I have read all of Dean Koontz's books and I must say that this is by far the worst by him that I've ever read (yes, worse than Tick-Tock). Normally a superb author, Koontz just really didn't seem to put much effort into this novel, which left me exasperated to say the least. If you want a good thriller from Koontz don't read this, try Watchers or Strangers instead.
Rating: Summary: A stay-up-late page turner. Review: I bought this book in Germany on the way home from a trip, and the book turned out to be another whole trip. Well written with great characters. I smell a sequel...
Rating: Summary: Excelent Review: Koonz does it again. It's the perfect mixture of terror and suspence. He's managed to do it again. I haven't enjoyed anything this much since Tic-Tock.
Rating: Summary: In the Koontz tradition. Review: This is the 35th Koontz book I read, and the 35th book of his which I liked. If one had to be really picky they could say that the only bad part of it was the first-person narrative, one I am not too much of a fan of. However, it contains the elements which have become trademarks in the Koontz novels... much like in Watchers, there is a dog and there is a laboratory. But as always, even if the plot tends to be predictable, Koontz manages to turn things round unexpectedly. Truly gifted in his ability to write, I am happy to see that in future I, as will his other fans, will meet once again the likes of Christopher, Bobby and Sasha. The formula worked with Watchers, so he dishes it out for the other books too. To me at least, it has done a pretty damn good job. Thanks so much Mr. Koontz.
Rating: Summary: You can't see the story for the description. Review: I love Dean Koontz. I have read everything he has done. BUT, this one was a challenge for me. There was so much description that it was hard to get into the story. I know that Christopher Snow, Bobby Halloway, Sasha Goodall and Orson are real (as per the authors note)and there could have been a very good story here but I lost interest when Mr. Koontz kept describing every little thing. Please Mr. Koontz, cut back on the filler and give us more of the subject matter.
Rating: Summary: Not in my top 10 of Koontz books Review: Dean Koontz is my absolute favorite writer, but I was dissapointed with "Fear Nothing". I missed the "thriller" factor, and to be in suspense till the final pages. I have the impression this is more a "routine" job than the other Koontz novels. My favorites are "Lightning" and "Strangers". Luc, Belgium
Rating: Summary: LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT! Review: This book is surely the start of a successful trilogy. It simply can't end where it did. I was on suspense the whole way through it, and the characters were fabulous! I love the dog.The subject is different, but VERY entertaining and it holds your interest, leaving you wanting more. This is a must-read!
Rating: Summary: Koontz Continues With Another Great Novel Review: Despite the negative criticism abound, I think this novel was certainly a very nice achievement for Dean. The characters have been infused with life, the style and writing craft are excellent. The only place the book falters a bit--and then only slightly--is in the plotting; the pace seems to be a bit disjointed. Nevertheless, this book is highly reccomended.
