Rating: Summary: Great listening! Review: I love to read Koontz's books but they are even better on audio. A great book to listen to from beginning to end. A little different from most of his books but he is still great with horror. The sequel is even better.
Rating: Summary: What a stinker! Review: I kept reading it cuz I thought it would get better. I mean it was a Koontz novel, I like Koontz novels... By the way for those of you who loved it and feel that those of us who hate it just don't like something different... You're right, if I wanted different I would have grabbed a book randomly off the shelf. I wanted Koontz style novel writing. This is not.I'll come here and read reviews FIRST next time.
Rating: Summary: TRASH--INSULTING Review: I have been reading Koontz for at least 10 years. This novel is by far the worst he has written. Dean--stay away from the first person--It gets in the way of the action. Also that surfer language--plastic and cheap. I forced myself to finish this awful book because I didn't want to feel like I wasted my money. Stay away from this title. If you like Koontz, read his last good book, "Intensity". There's a good read.
Rating: Summary: An excellent beginning... Review: This book is yet another instance of Koontz' captivating writing. Don't be discouraged by claims that it is "slow" or "incomplete." Remember that it is merely one third of a larger story - one which is likely to be more incredible and grander in scope than any of his others.
Rating: Summary: This is a book that you won't let go off. I assure you Review: This book is the most astonishing novel ever. It is filled with suspense, fear, and mystery. I assure you that the incredibly interesting and original plot will prohibit you from letting go off the book.
Rating: Summary: Good Job Koontz Review: I'm one for Koontz's more realistic books that don't deal that much with the supernatural twists. I was really impressed with this book and I would highly recommend it. If you are one for the technical, high tech talk and situtations you have to think a little bit about, then this is your type of book. Fear Nothing is on the top of my list of Koontz's best books.
Rating: Summary: Koontz should have published the trilogy as a whole.. Review: I did not realize until I was at page 331 that this book is in fact a prologue for the story yet to come. Many people have criticized this book for being slow and lame compared to Koontz's best. And if this were the whole tale, they'd be right. But this is only the beginning. If you love Koontz (and who has read Koontz and revelled in the horror without loving him), everything is here. The one departure is that for the first time (that I can recall) Koontz is writing in the first person. I highly recommend this book for what it is - a prologue - and cannot wait to read the second instalment (Seize the Night). Of course, I am a devote Koontz fan. All our familiar themes are here. This book is almost an answerback to Watchers, an echo but also more than an echo, an answer. The malfesance of genetic tampering gone bad also reminds us of Cold Fire. Koontz is capable of great epics - his greatest book in my opinion Strangers is a masterpiece of structure. Fear Nothing is an excellent beginning to the story of Moonlight Bay. Recommend the book highly without hesitation - every Koontz fan will relish the tale when he or she realizes that this is only the beginning of the "book". And if you've never read Koontz before, this would make an excellent start.
Rating: Summary: I don't think that this was really written by Koontz. Review: Why does it take so long for this moron Snow to get out of the house on fire? He wasn't familiar with weapons, but he was going to "squeeze off a shot"? And with a Glock (really hip gun) no less. Why does the author's style suddenly turn surfer-hip when the scene changes to Bobbie's place? Why does the radio station manager, apart from being spectacular looking and referring to main character as "Snowman" (Hill Street Blues "Pizzaman"), work the night shift. Whoever wrote this junk should be ashamed and have his or her license to type revoked. One star is one too many.
Rating: Summary: The disappointment of the ending, Dean!!!! Review: I am proud to say that Dean Koontz is my all time favorite science fiction/horror author. I have read everything in his wide libretto and can remember holding onto my seat during masterpieces such as "Watchers", "Sole Survivor" and "Intensity". I was so excited to read this novel and ended up in a disappointed mood. The story started out promising and even picked up steam in the middle, but once I reached the conclusion, to the identity of the monkeys, I was bored stiff. I thought that Bobby, Sasha and Christopher would be terrified at the novel's climax in Bobby's beach house. But much to my dismay, they were cracking jokes, (and not good ones I might add). I was hoping this trilogy would keep me at Amazon waiting for the next edition. I will read "Seize the Night", but as B.B. King said, "The Thrill is Gone"
Rating: Summary: One of his best! Review: People have a problem with this book because it's different. It is different, but it's still classical Koontz stock. Some people may not like the laid-back qualities of the hero; but it gives the book a great humorous edge. The book is great; the plot is riveting and very scary; thew humor is tasteful and well placed; and the characters are unique. It's Watchers, Dark Rivers of the Heart, and Sole Survior all together!
