Summary: Great story: Good story line and strong Background cover.
Review: This book is a good example of a solid King book. I have never been one to complain about the number of pages in a book, so I disagree with all of the accusations of Wizard and Glass being boring and drawn-out. This volume does a great job dealing with Roland's past and was a success. I find myself looking forward the fifth volume of King's Novel, The Dark Tower.

Summary: This long-awaited next book in a series was well worth it.
Review: I have long been a fan of Stephen King novels, and especially of his more "fantasy-like" books. I became engrossed in the Dark Tower series long ago and have been waiting patiently for the next book. I had almost given up hope that Mr. King would continue the series, when I happened across "Wizard and Glass". I was browsing in a book store when I saw it. I bought it breathlessly and rushed home to read it. It did not disappoint me. It is a credit to Mr. Kings superb writing skill that I was able to recommence the story without so much as a glance at the previous novels of the series. He makes it so easy that a reader who had never read any of the previous books of the series could easily pick up the story. This novel was a history of the main character and the reason for his quest. It was thoroughly enthralling. The element of romance was somewhat unusual in a Stephen King novel, however, it was perfectly done, and integral to the story. Of course, what King novel would be complete without a certain amount of shocking, horrifying, and just plain gross sub-plots and details. Certainly, this novel has them, and, as usual King fans, it is great. The end of Roland's history lesson will leave you shocked, and I daresay, gaping open-mouthed. I won't spoil it for you. Read this book!

Review: Its been awhile since I last closed the pages on W&G but I loved it. I finished it withing 4-days time... I was absorbed in the story so fully I found myself snapping at people who pulled me out of it for such trivial things like food and work... The love story was a great part, and King twists the same sharp, ivory-handled knife that he didn into Roland's heart into his readers when he kills Susan. I admit, the Wizard of Oz bit was corny, but what the hell, a little humor is needed. I think the real question we want answered--well, one of them at any rate-- is: How does The Stand tie in? Is it actually possible that Roland and Co. will run into a certain old black lady? (Maybe kick Harold's @$$ for a little cross-over fun?) Either way, I enjoyed this one immensely, and the book kept me company into the late hours of Friday and Saturday, when I ignored even "The Red-Green Show"... Now, Mr. King, WRITE THE FIFTH BOOK!!! (Hmm.. Maybe we sould get him on an icy Colorado road, one of the members of our group being a doctor or nurse....)

Summary: TEARING MYSTERY APART AND LOSES MAGIC THEREBY
Review: The Dark Tower series are my favourite by far. However, King did us (His constant readers) no favours whatsoever by destroying the intriguing mystery that surrounds Roland. Roland can be traced throughout history. His a legend that started as a dimunitive Knight in Charles' the Great's service. This book, while entertaining, is definately not a worthy addition to the series. It nearly destroys what the preceding novels achieved. C'mon mr. King, let the 'muse' (or whatever it was in the first three books) out. You said that you did not know where the inspiration comes from, and it added to the mystique of the series. I'm looking forward to the next half of the fourth volume of your Dark Tower series.

Review: one of the things i noticed from this book is that the adventure of roland, eddie, jake and susannah moved through the world of the STAND. wonder if they'll move through the other worlds of mr king as this series continues towards the dark tower?

Review: Getting through the Blaine sequence was hard, I had to force myself to read it. The telling of the love story, the immediate attraction and forthcoming passion and devotion, and then the inevitable ending was heartbreaking. But if it did nothing else, it explained Roland's quest for the Dark Tower. Roland was given a choice and he chose the Dark Tower. In so doing, he lost the love of his life and cemented his destiny. For the abandonment of the Dark Tower would mean that he let his "love" die for nothing. And that is something Roland would never be able to do.

Review: The book was my pink orb, catching me in its spell. Thanks to Stephen King for an engrossing and entertaining read. The popular success of his work proves people hunger for a good story. Mr. King delivers that and more. His vision stirs my creativity and imagination.
