Rating: Summary: this very well may be the greatest story ever written Review: from a purely plot-line viewpoint, I may not be too enthusiastic in saying that the dark tower series is indeed the best story I have ever read. Roland's journey is one I can't escape from. I read this book in a manner of hours and am currently anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. although this particular book was as excellent as the gunslinger, drawing of the three and the waste lands, the best compliment I can give the series as a whole is that I would be perfectly content to read book after book of these stories without any conclusion in sight. I want to prolong this trip indefinitely--maybe never reach the final destination.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic middle, dissapointing end.. Review: Well, I must say that the adventures of Roland before he started his quest for the tower were amazing, a very good read. But after that, I found I didn't want to go back to Jake and Susan and Eddie.. And that whole part about the Wizard of Oz, etc., was very dissapointing.. I expected more.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Simply amazing... Review: I was absorbed into the Dark Tower series when I received the first 3 books for last Christmas. When I found out about IV, I had to buy it as soon as I could, even though it didn't match my other books. It is one of his best! Although I wished it had more of the Eddie, Susannah, Jake, and Oy storyline, the history of Roland was a part that couldn't be missed. Who couldn't fall in love with Susan Delgado's character? But The Wizard and Galss is my second favorite Dark Tower, the first being number 2. Keep up good work and please hurry with the 5th. I don't know if I can wait.
Rating: Summary: Stephen King at his Best Review: I've read more than half of King's books, and Nothing captures my attention as much as his Dark Tower series, which is the best fantasy series I have read to date. Wizard and Glass kept me up many nights because I just couldn't put this book down. A must for any fan of Stephen King or Fantasy
Rating: Summary: Stephen King: Master Storyteller Review: Wizard and Glass is mainline heroin for Dark Tower junkies. Be warned: do not undertake this novel during finals week or if you have housecleaning to do. By the time I was finished, my apartment resembled that of Tommy from "Trainspotting". If you happen to be a serious reader, the length of this novel is a boon. King writes with such fluidity, his characters' dialogue is so real, that the length is a necessity. If you're hungry, you eat a big plate of lasagne; you don't pick a French restaurant where they serve you a thin slice of pate garnished with a little radish rosette. King may not agree with the critics, but he's damn satisfying, and the Dark Tower series is his piece de resistance. Roland lives how we'd all like to live-- doing the right thing, no matter how difficult. He's a hero, but he's accessible. He's so good, he doesn't have to swagger. What's so real about him is that he doesn't have a grand plan; he lives each day as it comes and doesn't worry about ka. Wizard and Glass is not just a great book-- it stands as a fortress against the cynicism and apathy that pervades so much of modern literature. King has the gall to say that some things really matter, and for that his critics will crucify him.
Rating: Summary: I can't put it down! Review: I also read the previous three Dark Tower books and have waited seemingly FOREVER for the fourth. I am smack dab in the middle of it right now and can't put it down. I did peek ahead at the ending and I CAN'T BELIEVE WHO SHOWS UP! Fans of King and the series won't be disappointed. It is different from the other books but nevertheless a page-turner!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful continuation of a fearsomely good story Review: Steven King is, arguably, the best writer of his genre, and the "Dark Tower" series is, in my opinion, the best of Mr. King. This, obviously, is No. 4 in the series and a look into the soul of Roland, The gunslinger. It is a moving story if you let yourself get into it. When I read a good novel, for better or worse, in my mind I am the protagonist of the story, and so get deeply involved in the telling! This book is one you will not want to start late at night, for the next thing you know its time to go to work. It is the best of the Dark tower series, and kudos to the greatest living writer of them all!
Rating: Summary: As good as a pink glowing Deamon moon... Review: The story is amazing and answer a lot questions for Rolands past.I think its his Ka to write such marvellous stories... An advise: DONT BUY THIS BOOK DURING YOUR EXAMS...the result will be horrifing :-)
Rating: Summary: The best one yet. Review: This was a perfectly beautiful book--the story was completely wonderful and gave much needed character development to the character this entire series is founded on, Roland of Gilead. I usually detest Stephen King and his entire genre of trash horror paperback novels, but the novels he writes that are not horror are strictly beautiful--a friend got me to read "Eyes of the Dragon" years ago, and then another friend started me on "The Gunslinger" knowing I hated Stephen King, and gloated when he caught me reading "The Drawing of the Three" and then got me "The Wastelands" from the library and lent me his copy of "Wizard and Glass." I recommend the series highly--Stephen King notes that each Dark Tower book takes several years to write, and that there are three more coming--this means that I will be nearly thirty by the time it is complete, and this is the only frustrating thing about the whole business--I wish my friend hadn't let me start until it was all done.
Rating: Summary: Best of the Four Review: This book was the best of all the Dark Tower series. King took Roland on his most awsome adventure yet. Even though it was about the start of Roland's quest I believe this was the strongest story of all the books. I can't wait until the next book comes out. Maybe King will finish the journey of our friend the "Gunslinger". It sure would be nice to see Roland get his tower. Maybe that will be the book to rival all.
