Rating: Summary: Vittorio the Vampire Review: This book is extraordinarily remarkable! Through the tragedy and extensive death the book intices the reader to never want the book to end...I didn't. Vittorio's story is so much different from all the other books on vampires that I have read and I admire it's originality. I give this book a well earned and deserved five stars!!!
Rating: Summary: Lovely! Review: I'll try to make this short and sweet, as I know everyone is probably dying to read other reviews. I thought this book was lovely, I was very interested in learning more about the lives of other vampires besides the standard characters and was happy to hear a new voice. What a new voice it was! Vittorio sounds like a confused little boy- which is what he is, and he is trying to live out his life in good, but is finding it increasingly difficult. I saw no confusion in this story at all (except the usual Anne Rice rambling that occasionally takes place). Oh, and a reviewer noted, as I saw, that "how did Vittorio survive the burning of Akasha and Enkil, anyway" to this I answer, he lived not in that time, read the book and you, too will discover my genius (just kidding!).
Rating: Summary: Not bad Review: at least, not as bad as Armand. Rice loses the plot here in showing off her arty knowledge; a passable but ultimately redundant episode in the Vampire Chronicles.
Rating: Summary: A New Beginning Review: Anne Rice has done it again. Being 16 yrs. old, I have not had much experiece with this exsquisit writer but I saw Interveiw with a Vampire and when I finished reading Vittorio, I couldn't wait to read her other novels. I treasure Vittorio and I can't wait to read the other novels that are already out. This book was deeply involved and a pleasure to read.
Rating: Summary: Ughhhh Review: I loved every Anne Rice Vampire book, except for this one. A word to the wise, save your 26.95 dollars on this book, if you're interested buy the cheap paperback cover. This book is soooo vague, I couldn't believe it! I was so disappointed. Vittorio didn't even change into a vampire until like the last 50 pages! This novel reaked! I think Anne Rice should've took a little more time on this novel. maybe she shouldn't write anymore Vampire novels.
Rating: Summary: Vittorio the Vampire Review: I'm sorry I had to give it one star. This is total garbage, can't blame her for wanting to cash in, just wish it was't at my expense. At 50% through the book I decided to keep reading just for the sake of finishing it. At 80% I tossed it with disgust. She should be ashamed.
Rating: Summary: Classic Rice Review: The story of Vittorio begins in renaissance Tuscany where he is the eldest son of a powerful Italian lord. All seems well in his father's mountain citadel. The troubles stirred by war do not reach so far into these craggy heights and his family possesses great wealth and great alliances. The land is contented. But there are wicked things lurking the night beyond the enfolding stone of his father's house and the peasants begin fleeing their sleepy little mountain hamlets. Soon after a mysterious stranger calls at his father's door and a peasant child goes missing. This marks the change of all things for Vittorio, when witches and demons cease to be the things of nightmares and reveal themselves as breathing, flesh and blood horrors as real as Vittorio himself. What follows is the tale of the making of Vittorio the vampire. Rice does an excellent job of recreating classic Italy, imbuing the page with just enough details to bring the times to stunning life. At her best she is a wonderful poet, but at her worst she is wordy and rambling. Fortunately, the story of Vittorio is seldom plagued by the latter, except for in the beginning pages, though this is easily overlooked when her writing begins to flow. This, the latest of Rice's excursions into Vampirism, is a good enough tale, but fails to offer anything new to the old legends. If you're looking for the freshness and originality of Interview, you will have to look elsewhere. But if you are only interested in a well told tale in which to lose yourself for a few happy hours Vittorio will not disappoint.
Rating: Summary: Bor-ing! Review: I find her so boring since she became well known. This book puts me to sleep, but I hope to finish it just to get closure. "Interview With a Vampire" was so innovative and "The Mummy" was also great, but I find her present writing style and storylines tiresome and her books uninspired.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful look at religion and morals Review: I don't want to discuss much of the story so that I won't give it away. How ever not unlike most of her other books you will fall into her fantasy world full of vibrant images. I love the fact that Anne Rice has a way of showing us that we are all human. In this book even the priests are in bed with the devil as is the painter of heavenly images. When you return from the journey you will have a better understanding of humanity and our down falls.
Rating: Summary: A Good Review from a Non-Anne Rice Fan Review: For years I've been determined to find one of Anne Rice's books that did not put me to sleep and this is it. A good story without an overabundance of narrative as I usually see in her writing. Although I'm not giving much information about the story itself, I do recommend it for folks who aren't usually her fans.
