Summary: I love Anne Rice but...
Review: I've read all of the Vampire Chronicles and found most of them very enjoyable. But this book was soooo boring and long winded. I had to force myself to finish. Her last two books Pandora and Armand were readable but definately not her best work. The storylines for all three books were kind of boring. But this by far is her worst book. I wish she'd continue with the Mummy Story. Her Witches were my favorite. Sorry Anne this one wasn't very good at all.

Summary: Disappointing but not disgraceful.
Review: I have enjoyed all of Anne Rice's books, though this one left a little to be desired. Vittorio was entertaining but I feel Mrs. Rice is trying to stretch the vampire chronicles beyond the breaking point. Why concentrate all her energies on the vampires when I believe the witch chronicles to be more interesting. I truly hope she writes more on the subject. All in all I would recommend other books she's writen before this one.

Summary: one of the best!!
Review: i love anna rice's book, Vittorio. its now my fav. book, mainly because of Vittorio himself. i think that the story itself could not have had a better setting than Italy. i too thought it as sort of a breather from the rest of the "old vampiers". the only problem i had with the book was its length, it was too short! but one thing is certian, i will definatly be on the lookout for Vittorio in the future.

Summary: Couldn't even finish it.
Review: This is one of the worst and most disappointing books that i have ever read. After reading both Interview and Lestat, i decided to pick this one up, expecting something spectacular. Instead of the uplifting, romantic, adventurous tale that i had wanted, i got (in my opinion) a shabby, sputtering plot and writing that didn't seem to focus on or develop the characters. I don't know if having angels involved is normal for Anne Rice books, but i thought that including them was somewhat insipid. Another thing that bothered me was that i couldn't figure out exactly what Vittorio was, even reading more than 1/2 of the book. For me, it wasn't Vittorio, the Vampire; it was Vittorio, the Crazy Italian who Sees Angels. And that wasn't something i wanted to read.

Summary: NOT WHAT I EXPECTED
Review: I've read all of Anne's novels and I really had a hard time with this one. I love descriptive novels, but this was ridiculous. Every page was a never-ending detailed description of Florence and Italian paintings, and yes, it's "cultural", but isn't this supposed to be a horror novel? I don't think I would recommend this book to anybody. Don't expect anything exciting in the plot either. Anne should stop writing such boring novels!

Summary: about a man vittorio, not a vampire
Review: i am the anne rice fan. have read everything she's ever written. her books have inspired me to travel all over the world (and I have), especially the places mentioned in her books. I'm honestly a bit let down by her latest books which seem to be more about her own battle with religion than her characters interacting with each other. Vittorio also fits this catagory. This book is called Vittorio the Vampire and some 200 pages into the book Vittorio is still human. My vote is to read it because Anne Rice must be read, but it didn't move me like Lestat. -Athena 6/4/99

Summary: Another fascinating, finely woven tale from Anne Rice
Review: Anne Rice has written another tale of torment, betrayal, beauty and emotional conflict in Vittorio. Instead of focusing on the life and adventures of Vittorio as a vampire, Rice this time weaves the tale of Vittorio's "death." Set again in Italy, the countryside images Rice paints for us are almost as beautiful as the emotional struggle Vittorio wages and the paintings he so loves. Though I was a little disappointed that no familiar vampires were brought into this saga and he never ventures out of his beloved homeland, Vittorio's story is moving and satisfies the following Rice has acquired who cannot get enough of her true fictions.

Summary: No more Lestat
Review: It was refreshing to not have to listen to the endless droaning of Lestat in Rice's new book. A great and wonderfully written book. Rice has not lost her ability to breath life into a new character and location. Her descriptions of Italy are both engaging and inspiring. My only problem was the book was much too short.

Summary: Easy, shorth, too light?
Review: 'When I heard about this book, I wanted of course to read it as soon as possible. It was not that good, but it wasn't that bad either. It is a book for people who need something easy to read. It's a bit disappointing, thought I did not expect anything glorious.

Summary: Back on Track - Vittorio is more Rice like.......
Review: after suffering through "Armand" and "Violin", the Vittorio read paid off. Not one of her best but much better than the above mentioned two. I would recommend this book to an avid AR reader and also the novice AR reader. Not too bloody and gorey, just enough bazare romance and the good angels were a delightful touch.
