Rating: Summary: There are a few pearls here Review: This book is another welcome addition to SK's short story library. Most of the storiesare OK.Some are terrible(Dedication,The Ten O;Clock People), some are quite good(Dolan's Cadillac,The Fifth Quarter),and one truly frightening classic, on par with his or any other's best. Read CROUCH END,and see how YOU dream after that!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: so good i'd read it again (maybe) Review: This book is one of the best pieces of Stephen King writing I have ever read. After you've read something like Night Shift you need something to cool yourself down with. This book does just that and it comes with a lot of non-stop reading excitement. Some of my fav stories were "chattery teeth" "the end of the whole mess" and "you know they got a hell of a band."
Rating: Summary: damn good Review: Okay, this was one of the coolest books ive read. The concepts are so real. The End of the Whole Mess was my favorite.
Rating: Summary: Frightening and Mystical. You'll love it. Review: Jam packed with stories that will drive you into maniacal laughter, and make you leave the lights on at night. Rollercoaster of Terror and macabre hilarity, this is pure King. Although one or two stories detract from the overall, it still deserves all five stars. Especially look out for the story "Crouch End", it'll turn you white.
Rating: Summary: Somewhat out of the ordinary Review: This book was so diffrent from all the other king books I read. It is a brighter book than sceleton crew, and some of it's stories seem like they were put there simply to take up room.
Rating: Summary: IT IS OK BUT NOT THAT GREAT Review: There are a few good stories but not many. It takes a while in each of the stories to get to the good part. But it was well written.
Rating: Summary: Decent Review: This was not as good as Night Shift Or Skeleton Crue' but I liked 'Dolans caddilac' The End of the Whole Mess' 'Chattery Teeth' and 'The Moving Finger'. Almost all the rest was mediocre. Head Down was a waste of paper and shouldnt have been included here.
Rating: Summary: I really expected much more... Review: I have read most of king's works. I like not only his non-horror stories but also the gory ones. However, these book stories do not remember the master pieces King deployed in the past at all. Neither enough blood nor well-conducted devilish clever plots. "Dolan's Cadilac", "The End of the Whole Mess", "The Night Flier", "Popsy", "You Know They Got a Hell of Band" and "Home Delivery" are the best stories. But just a pale shadow if you put them all together with those from "Skeleton Crew" and "Night Shift". Well, anyway, it was a nice try.
Rating: Summary: King writes good short stories Review: Most of Stephen King's novels are mere tripe, but he is great in short forms and the epic. A self described bad explainer, he does best when restrained or let free. My favorites in this collection were "The Ten O'Clock People," "Sorry, Right Number," "Chattery Teeth," "The Moving Finger," and "You Know They Got One Hell of a Band." Since several reviewers have compared "Crouch End" to H.P. Lovecraft, I plan to read his work. Overall, a good collection of short stories, some scary, some funny, and most were interesting.
Rating: Summary: Some Real Gems Review: Just have to say that I found this collection to be the best Stephen King I've read. Second only to It of course. In particular, I loved both The Night Flier and The Doctor's Case. I think King writing a Supernatural Sherlock Holmes novel would be the bomb. The Night Flier is a real gem, a squirmy little story that pushes all the right buttons. Crouch End is an awesome homage to H.P. Lovecraft, and if you liked that you should read some of Lovecraft's stuff. In all, an excellent book.
