Rating: Summary: Dissapointed Review: I am a huge fan of Stephen King books, but was very dissapointed by this book. The story goes on for too long in the same surrounding. Jessie is virtually tied to the bed for the whole book. This made my mind drift, whereas usually King is able to take and hold my concentration for ages. I have just started the book 'IT' and already have read 200 pages in 5 days, whereas it took me over 3 weeks to finish the 300 pages of Geralds Game.
Rating: Summary: Not a good example of King's work Review: I have probably read about 15-20 of Stephen King's book and this is one of the worst by far. I haven't read much of his work since because it was very disappointing. If you want an example of good writing by Stephen King try some of the following books: Misery, The Stand, The Talisman, Four past midnight, and anything in the gunslinger series.
Rating: Summary: Worst Steven King book, avoid! Review: I am actually a fan of Steven King, but as time went on, got a bit tired of his books. Just not too much really good original stuff left. He's never been a particularly great writer, but is a great storyteller. In this one, he tried to act like a real writer, trying to take us into this woman's mind, and it just doesn't work, it's terribly boring and annoying. This is one of the few books I really had to strain to finish. Not sure why I did, other than just determination to not leave a book unread.
Rating: Summary: As the good wine... Review: King gets better with age. This is one of the best horror books I have ever read. Everything it describes is so powerfully real that I was looking over my shoulder and breaking in goosebumps by midbook. The ending is incredible. The mind can be the darkest place of all.
Rating: Summary: This is an awsome book! Review: A romantic vacation to a secluded island isn't as romantic as Gerald and Jesse think it might be when Jesse is hand cuffed to the bed by her husband Gerald for the purpose of what some might call " making love". In a frantic struggle between two lovers Gerald is killed and Jesse is left handcuffed to the three hundred-pound bed. To make things worse a stray very hungry dog has made his way into her house. I think that this was an awesome book. My favorite part was her attempts to get out of the handcuffs. I think the setting was awesome because it was kind of romantic. The characters seemed real as I progressed through the book and they seemed to do things differently than I expected. Although the ending wasn't surprising the way it happened was. This book doesn't really have any bad parts. It just seems to get better and better until you get to the end. I rate this book as a four star because it is awesome all the way from cover to cover. It has a good setting, the characters seem so real, and the plot is also really cool. This is why I like this book.
Rating: Summary: Too long and boring, but somehow I was able to finish it. Review: Woman handcuffed to bed must free herself. Note: She is NUTS (voices in head confirm this). Their is an attempt to get sympathy for her because she is nuts and stupid. the book also had too much filler material. It seemed as though there was a minimum word quota that needed to be filled for the publisher or something. King has done a LOT better.
Rating: Summary: Not quite one of King's best books, but good all the same Review: I read this book shortly after finishing Dolores Claiborne, and if you read that book first, this book makes a lot more sense. The writing is incredibly graphic in places, but the story compensates for that shortcoming. The psychological horror of this book is comparable to Poe, but without as much of his subtlety. The ending of this book is, mercifully, anti-climactic, like the final few seconds of a rollercoaster ride. In short, this book is a good, but not a great, read.
Rating: Summary: ONE OF THE BEST SK BOOKS Review: This is one of the best books I've ever read. You can say it's boring cause it stays in the same place the whole time but I like that because she goes different places with her mind. It keeps you intrested the whole time.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: Wow! The comment curve is huge but I think I'll stick with five stars. A true accomplishment. A pyschological thriller. I could not put down the book. Even the "unscary stuff" was interesting and realistic. This is the only book other than 'Salem's Lot that scared me virtually to death. The detail and the simplicity(not the word I'm looking for, but who's counting?) make for a terrifying novel. Lastly, to address the ending, i loved it. It was exactly (well, not exactly) what i was looking for... an explanation and a conclusion. A must read!
Rating: Summary: Better than I dare to imagine Review: I never thought it'd be this good. In fact, this was one of the King books I've put on my "not to read till later" list, but then my friend bought it and told me to read it. She thought it was pretty "okay", but I thought it was far more than okay; it was great! This novel reminds me strongly of Clive Barker's, so full of EXTREMEs (in terms of gore). A very interesting, and over all fascinating piece of work.
