Summary: Houston HPEP Reading Group Raves!!!
Review: Yes, you've heard from me (vixen) before - but i just wanted to say that the HPEP Reading/Movie S.I.G.that Master and i host recently finished our own discussion of "Topping From Below" and it was one of our best meetings yet!!! All the folks who read the book found something compelling to talk about - be it the issue of consensuality, the culpability of the Dominant in the death of Fran, or the realism of the S/M scenes...all who read the novel were somehow moved, (my Master says i am prejudiced because i fell in love with the character 'Michael" - but i remind Him that it was only because He bears such a striking similarity to "His truly" - i have to admit when Master dressed for the meeting in the unpretentious debonair fashion of 'M' - right down to the silky shirt with rolled-up sleeves, i found myself in such a state that i could barely conduct the group)... But then, my friends, that just helped to illustrate the powerfull evocative nature of the characters described, and how intensely "genuine" the experiences of the heroine were presented. (*sigh*)By the way, the Doms loved it too, and were almost unanimously defensive of M's relative innocence. To reiterate, "Topping From Below" is a tremendous book, on many levels, and a very special BDSM literary find. Read it alone, or with your Dom/or sub... MWvixen

Summary: This was a captivating all nighter.
Review: Once I started reading this book I could not put it down. I then passed it on and everybody else who read it said the same thing.....they could not put it down til finished. Anybody know of any other books written by Laura Reese? She has a great way of storytelling.

Summary: Not bad, but predictable and slow in places
Review: The story line was great. But I didn't like the ending. The suspense was well done. She spends a bit too much time detailing some things that seem to have little weight in the story, at times. But overall it was a fun read, with skips every once in awhile to get past the intense detailing.

Summary: WOW!!! Fantastic book! Do yourself a favor - read it!
Review: When I first picked up this book I didn't have much spare time to read it. After reading the first chapter or two - I MADE time to read it. I simply couldn't put it down until I knew the ending! This is one of the best fiction novels I've read in quite a while. The plot will totally engross you. The characters in the story are completely believable and psychologically complex. The urge to understand their motives and behavior is beyond compelling. I highly recommend reading this book. 10+ star rating! Get it, you'll be glad you did! CAVEAT LECTOR: If you are in the least bit squeamish, this book may not be your "cup of tea". Some scenes, while absolutely vital to the plot, are very graphic.

Review: A real psychological page turner. One of the best novels I've read. Likeable charachters draw you into the plot and make you anxious yet dissapointed to come to the end.

Review: I discovered this book from the Literary Guild and I had to read it, and boy I was not disappointed at all! Both Nora and M. pulled me into the story and the extremely explicit sex scenes were arousing, too! If you want a mix of pornography and a murder mystery, then read this book! You will not be disappointed!!!

Review: I bought this book a few months back and re read it yet again, it was even better the second time! I couldn't put it down! I recommended it to all my friends, it has been passed around the office and the women LOVED it! One friend of mine sat down and read it non stop for two days! We can't wait for her to write another one, HURRY LAURA!

Summary: Where S&M can easily stand for Smut & Mystery...
Review: Reese teases and thrills the reader not unlike her main character, Nora, is seduced and led by the controlling M. Each page is a thrill to read, every revelation a minideath. The reader is drawn deeper and deeper into a passionate and dangerous world that we can't walk away from any more than Nora can walk away from the mystery surrounding her sisters death.

Review: NOT SINCE DEAN KOONTZS'," THE BAD PLACE", HAVE I BEEN SO PHYSICALLY DRAWN TO A NOVEL. THE COVER IS MISLEADING, AND IF IT HAD NOT BEEN LENT TO ME, I WOULD NOT HAVE PICKED IT UP. I'M GLAD I DID AND THOROUGHLY AGREE WITH PLAYBOY'S REVIEW. "A GOOD WHO DUNNIT MIXED WITH RAUNCHY SEX."

Review: Unfortunately, this book is totally predictable, and filled with flat characters and cliches. A book this explicit needs to contain better writing to differentiate itself from run-of-the-mill pornography.
