Rating: Summary: King at his best Review: I must say that this is quite an interesting book. I've read it twice, and still I think I'll get back on it someday to read it again. Especially I loved the ongoing tension and intensity of the story - the reflections from various worlds give tremendous depth to the plot. It seems that all the worlds have gone wrong and Roland The Gunslinger is helpless. However - who knows what will happen is the fortcoming episodes of the adventure. One can read the Dark Tower III independently, but I'd recommend reading parts I and II before Wastelands.
Rating: Summary: Pretty damn good Review: I would like to say this is one of the best books i've read. this is in my top five. My number 1 being the Lord of the Rings trilogy. in this review i am refering to the whole series as one book. my favorite part in this book is the reveiw Jakes teacher give him for his paper "my understanding of truth," when it ment nothing the teacher was talking about. he was just writing a bunch of nonsense gibberish. alhthough this stuff he would soon come to know. all in all a great book and a good series.
Rating: Summary: einfach genial! Review: diese bücher sind einfach genial. man kann es kaum erwarten, bis es weiter geht. danke stephen! viele grüsse aus der schweiz!
Rating: Summary: Wizard and the Glass, absolutely amazing Review: This is by far, one of my favorite books I have ever read. The Dark Tower series seems to suck you in and keep you entranced even after they are read. Although this book doesn't seem to go forward in time, I think the insight into his past was exactly what needed to happen. Alain, Susan, and Cuthbert were pleasant additions to this series as was Rhea and the Big Coffin Hunters. This book is definately the kind that can get you into trouble. Late nights, four hour reading marathons, and put-off chores certainly won't win you admiration from friends and family. But trust me, it is most definately worth it. This series changes you somehow and even after weeks of finishing you still find yourself incorporating elements of this book into your everyday life. Thank you Mr. King for many hours of enchantment. "The Man in Black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed." Roland, I'll be with you every step of the way.
Rating: Summary: Stephen King does it again Review: Just when I thought the Dark Tower Series couldn't get any better I read The Waste Lands. Stephen King really shows his power as a writer in these books. A suspenseful thrill ride through Roland's Mid-World is the only way to describe it. The series has grown to be one of my top 5 favorites and could even make it to number one. I've already begun the next book, so until then.....read the Waste Lands. You will NOT ne disappointed.
Rating: Summary: A stunning thrill-ride of an adventure. Review: Stephen King's DarkTower series gets better with every book! This is by far one of his most superior works.Join Roland,(theLastGunslinger)Eddie and Susannah as they travel through through the Wastelands, searching for the DarkTower, battling evils real and unreal along the way. A definite must-read.
Rating: Summary: The Waste Lands: Fantasy, Majesty, and a fantastic read. Review: Let's face it. King is a masterful writer, and regardless of whether or not you enjoy horror or even King himself you have to admit this fact. The Waste Lands is a perfect example of his mastery of the written word. If you have not read the first two novels in this series, The Gunslinger and The Drawing of the Three, do yourself a favor and do so. Both are amazing works of literature and both contribute to this, the third installment of the Dark Tower series. I can honestly say about The Waste Lands that I simply couldn't put the book down. Being a writer myself, I am never easily enthralled by others work, but King has once again entered my soul and given the literate world a gift. Spend the extra cash if you can and pick up the illustrated paperback version of this one. You'll understand why when you do. All told, this story will touch you and stay with you forever as it did me. If you enjoy any kind of art that incorporates several genres of literature, this is the book and indeed the series of books for you. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: The master story teller Review: I have a problem with the Darktower series, it keeps me up at night and losing sleep. Not because it's from the vaunted King horror library but because they are the best books he's written. The heroic quest meets pseudo western meets science fiction meets fantasy is about the best way to describe this literary achievement. You have Roland, a dark figure, representing a world long gone and the last bastion of sanity in an insane world. Then there's Eddie Dean the pure comic relief, whose inane intelligence hides beneath his facade. After him, there's Susannah Dean, a woman once of two personalities, now reborn and united as one. Then there's the boy Jake who died in the first book and should've in the second if it were not for the feats of Roland, only to be drawn back into his world. The only other author who can enthralled me as much in a series is Dan Simmons in the Hyperion books. This is one of the most intelligently written books I've read in a while. Bravo Stepehn King. May Roland of Gilead reign long upon his mythical quest.
Rating: Summary: One of the most real, richly filled adventure stories ever. Review: Of all the many Stephen King books, his Dark Tower epic is the what truly marks his genious. Together the Dark Tower series is the most richly filled adventure since Lord of the Rings, with some of the most real, living, breathing characters King has ever brought to life. Alone the Dark Tower II: the Drawing of the Three may be the best in the series so far. It remains one of the most action-packed and interesting adventures ever written. The story has such history and depth, and the characters are so life-like it's easy to forget it's a work of fiction. The story is inexcapable, unforgettable. A world all it's own that pulls you in and never ever let's go. Once you read this book you will never be the same. All you read will remind you of this world, and you will find peices of it in almost every book you've read and loved by Stephen King. Most of all you will be like the rest of us waiting tirelessly for the rest of the story to be written, and the mystery of the Dark Tower to be solved. Nothing you have ever read will prepare you for such an amazing trip through an even more amazing world. You will find other books full of knowledge about the Dark Tower, like: Insomnia, Rose Madder, The Stand, Salem's Lot, The Eyes of the Dragon. Even if just sharing a character, they all somehow tie in together. (And honestly, one of them tell more about the Dark Tower itself than any of the Dark Tower books so far.) And best of all, the story isn't over yet!! We've all got to wait for the last two or three to be written. The waiting is the hardest part, because the books are always read so quickly. Calling them page-turners is an understatement! They are landmarks.
Rating: Summary: this book like the other two keeps you wanting more. Review: When I first picked up the first book I thought hey another SKing book but a western. Wow was I ever wrong, Now I'm hooked in this book. Every chance I get, I look for another new one that continues the story. Mr. King knows how to keep you guessing that's for sure. The part that has me hooked in the Waste lands is the train and the riddle that needs to be solved before they crash...... If this book ever turns to a film I know the effects are gonna be great! I won't be missing out on the movie that's for sure........
