Summary: Exciting thriller
Review: By the time she turn ten, C.J. Osborne decides she no longer needs a babysitter and following months of begging her parents give in to her demand. They leave her alone one evening on their Mohave Desert ranch. This makes C.J. feel very grown up until she notices a light just outside the window. An intruder invades her house, but not before C.J. takes refuge in the crawl space. She manages to keep the invader at bay until her parents arrive, but they believe that their daughter's overactive imagination kicked in big time.
Fifteen yeas later, C.J. works as a police officer for the LAPD, but she never forgot that night of terror. Although she fights crime in the city's worse slums, she remains afraid of that one bogeyman from her youth. Too bad she fails to realize that her childhood nightmare has returned to eliminate the one person who escaped his clutches.
LAST BREATH is an exciting thriller that will send shivers up and down the fan's spine because Michael Prescott enables the reader to walk in the shoes of C.J. Her valiant efforts to overcome her fears are laudable and add to the thrills and chills of the plot. Mr. Prescott shows off his talent as a unique and fresh author with a gift to keep the audience in a chamber of suspense. Harriet Klausner

Summary: excellent and under-appreciated
Review: Everybody looks for something different in the books they read. Were all different. This book, to me, is excellent. Just like all his others. His stories and the way he describes them are movie quality stuff. Yeah, I know, everyone wanted the hourglass killer to be the main adversary. But the perosn they "did" use, (not letting out any spoilers.)was great. He was dark, perverted, mean and smart all at the same time. Great characterization. He was my favorite character of them all.
This should be made into a movie..big time. It's dark, scary and tough. And lets not forget it has edge. I may be exaggerating, but i cant help it. buy this book. NOW!

Summary: Worth the wait for a new Prescott thriller...
Review: I am such a fan of Michael Prescott that I find it hard to wait for each new novel. As I waited for Last Breath's release, I wondered what new characters and new plot twists I might enjoy. Wow! C.J. is so believable...she's just a gal with a job she loves, a past that terrifies her, co-workers who give her a hard time, and an ex-hubby that mollifies her into thinking he might be a decent guy. Wrong! He's nuts, she's vulnerable; and, if that weren't enough, there's another crazy out there who let her get away as a child, but is determined to get her now. I am always amazed at how Prescott is able to scare me to death and yet keep me turning page after page late into the night. I loved the book just as I have loved every other Michael Prescott novel. Once again, I'm waiting for the next one and hate the fact that it will be late in 2002 before I can, once again, be mesmerized by Michael Prescott and his wonderfully believable characters.

Summary: Beyond great! Outstanding
Review: I believe Michael Prescott to be one of the most underrated writers today. An excellent wordsmith (he actually uses the right word in the right place--something new and different) his narrative flows. Suspense in all his novels builds and builds until you're up all night in an attempt to finish his novels. They also do not end in a rushed attempt to tie up all the loose ends but continue in the same smooth style. He does leave you wanting to know what happens next to the star character. Last Breath is as good as all his previous works and, if this is your first Prescott, you will be inspired to seek out his previous novels. You will not be disappointed in any one of them and probably join the legion of fans who anticipate the next Prescott novel. Michael Prescott has definitely earned a place on my bookshelf and will probably gain one on yours also.

Review: I bought this book because I was looking for something different. I am very glad I did. I will definately be purchasing Mr. Prescott's other titles. It starts out in the Mojave desert when CJ is 10. Somthing traumatic happens (won't ruin surprise). Then we move forward, C.J. is 26 and a police officer who daily tests herself to prove that she is no longer afraid of what happened when she was 10. There are some great surprise twists. C.J. is a likeable heroine, very resourceful. She manages to battle her past, and a serial killer w/panache. The serial killer also has some different and imaginative traps and plots as well. Would love to tell you more, but I really don't want to ruin it. Go out and get this one!!

Summary: Unbelievable
Review: I can't believe someone over 17 could be entertained by this. How about some realism for once!
Many things in the book would never happen. Therefore, it totally killed the story midway through the book for me.
It's sad to think people are entertained by such a weak job, almost like the movie Face Off or something. Often I like the Vintage Collection books and they're not as exciting but at least they are realistic.

Summary: Not bad, kept turning pages quickly most of the time.
Review: I give it 4 stars because at one point the book lost my interest for a brief moment. I love a story when it rolls, keeps my suspense up, this didn't do it for me at some point in the book. Loved the beginning chapter, ending was good as well. This book is not very gory but a great thriller read.
