Rating: Summary: Dissapointed in Killing Mr. Griffin Review: Compared to the rest of Lois Duncan's thrillers, this book shouldn't make it on the chart. Though I love all of her books, this one is my least favorite because of some of the unanswered questions left in my head when the book ended.
Rating: Summary: Good book for everybody who likes to figure out endings Review: The book I read was a pretty good book it was about these tenager that hate their teacher because he seems like having fun flunking all the kids then these teenagers kidnapp the teacher and it goes wrong all after that. I think this book is pretty good but at first it had a little drag in it, just plain boring. Then it sortof gets better but it is a good book. I think Louis Duncan is a good writer and it has a good climax and a good setting the only probably of the book I think is well it was really boring at the beginng and then at the end you never think of what happened if your into book with lots of action this isn't it sorry but it is pretty good book.
Rating: Summary: An abrupt and unsuspected ending Review: Killing Mr. Griffin is a good book about some high school students who plan a revenge on their tough literature teacher, Mr. Griffin. But when their plans go wrong and their harmless practical joke turns into a murder case, their lives get turned upside down. They try to keep it secret but the guilt and anger finally gets to them and the truth is revealed. The book had a good beginning and it kept me interested the whole time. In some parts the book seemed to start dragging but then something really exciting would happed and it would recover itself. The book has a lot of suspenseful parts, which makes the book even more interesting and exciting to read. The author also did a good job on making the characters and plot believable, the way the characters reacted to each other and got along was just like if they were real high school students put in this position. The book ending was kind of abrupt and unsuspected but I was relieved for the book to end because there couldn't have been much more added to the story without it starting to drag.
Rating: Summary: A Must-Read Book! Review: Killing Mr. Griffin illustrates diverse emotions between characters quite well. In many books I've read, one character's emotions are displayed, while the emotions of the others are skimmed over. In this book, you get everything from the stubborness of Mr. Griffin to the intense fear of Sue. Every word of this book pulls you into the story more and more. Your heart will race when the fatal actions come about, and be twisted when the sorrow of Mrs. Griffin is presented. This book is an excellent portrayal of human personalites. I strongly suggest that you read this book; you will learn a thing or two about human's ways of reacting to tragedy and you'll have the opportunity to read an exceptional story.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Great!!! Review: I had to read "Killing Mr. Griffin" for my 8th grade English class and I loved it!! I could not put it down! I thought the book should have ended a different way then that but all in all it was pretty great! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good suspenseful book to read!
Rating: Summary: Killing Mr. Griffin Review: This was a very intresting book. It is about a group of high schoolers who plot to kill their English teacher. But something goes wrong and he dies. I couldn't put this book down. I would recomend it to anyone who loves murder/suspence novels.
Rating: Summary: TV Movie Better Than Book Review: "Killing Mr. Griffin" was the first Lois Duncan book I ever read. It was assigned in my tenth grade English class, but I doubt I read it, because when the TV movie aired in 1997 (only a couple years after my class), I didn't have a clue what it was about. So, after watching the movie, I decided to "reread" the book. The plot is somewhat the same: a group of high school kids plan to abduct their English teacher as revenge for his unfair treatment of his students. Their plan hits a snag when Mr. Griffin suddenly dies on them before they can release him. Now they face the possibility of murder charges unless they all can cover their tracks and swear to secrecy. While the movie focuses on Susan McConnell as the lead character, the book randomly switches between her and the other four (five in the movie) characters (Mark Kinney, David Ruggles, Betsy Cline, and Jeff Garrett), never really settling on anyone as the "good guy". The "bad guy" is obvious though--Mark Kinney--, but even he is too psychotic, killing anyone who gets in his way, including David's invalid grandmother. Susan, who I expected to be the practical mind in the group, was just plain weak and annoying. Even David was pretty unredeemable after drugging his own grandmother so he could have a solid alibi. If you hadn't guessed, the only good thing that came out of this book was the movie, which I highly recommend over the book. The idea for "Killing Mr. Griffin" was pretty interesting, especially if you're a high school student with a teacher like Mr. Griffin, but the writing wasn't the best. None of the characters were worth getting to know, plus some of the events were unbelievable, i.e., how Susan and David were recruited--it was too easy to convince them to help. The book isn't very engaging, but if you're a Lois Duncan fan, you might like this one. Otherwise, I'd skip it.
Rating: Summary: Killing Mr.Griffin Review: The Book was very good. The main Charector were alice and her boyfriend Jake. I could not put the book down. After school one day they wanted to talk to Mr.Griffin and then take him up to a hill that know one know where it was and nail him to the ground. The next day after school the went back to the hill and Mr. Griffin was dying very slow. He was in so must pain that he screamed once. The left and came back later and he had died. They let him stay there for along time. Thee next day some of there friends went to school and some didn't. They all went up there that night and put him in a bag and then put him in the truck of the car. Mrs.Griffin was pargent at the time and when she know that he did not come home for three days she know something was worry. So she called the police and the police was on the look out. They came to school the next day and acted like they would act everyday. They finly fined out who did it.
Rating: Summary: Krista's review Review: This book was cartainly very interesting, and I would recomend it to anyone. It is full of suspence with a exciting twisted ending. Even though the teacher in question was pretty mean and strict, and I could identify with their dislike, it was very sad to me what happens. The author uses flash backs in this book very well, always giving the right information at the right time. Lois Duncan also is incredibly good at developing his characters. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is that the students deal with the problem in a very bad way, which only escalates their predicament. Anyway, I could not put the book down and I would recomend it to both readers for pleasure and for teachers to use in class.
Rating: Summary: Killing Mr. Griffin Again Review: This book was very well written and I liked it a lot. It was never boring and it made me want to keep reading. I like how the characters were just a bunch of normal kids. They weren't in any weird groups or clubs. I just think it's dumb that they would risk getting themselves in so much trouble just for a stupid joke. The ending was also not what I expected. But I would recommend this book to my friends.
