Rating: Summary: Good, but forgettable Review: Young Adult reading. I watched this movie at the end of August. I didn't realize that it was based on a book until Banned Books Week rolled around and I saw it on the list. So, I went out searching for this book. Basically, a group of teens plot to play a prank on their tight-ass English teacher. They didn't expect him to end up dead. I'm sure we all imagined wanting to get rid of a teacher that we didn't (or don't) like. These kids did. Though, his death wasn't part of the plan (at least not to most of them). This is typical YA reading pre-the teenage angst revolution. There isn't much character development and many of the characters fall into cliched roles such as the popular cheerleader and the mousy A student and the straight-edge class president. However, this really is an intriguing story for the simple fact that we do want know what will happen when they kidnap their teacher and then once the worse case scenario has happened, we watch as they fall into a spiral lies and deception. I'm glad that I watched the movie first or else, I would have totally hated it. If I watch a movie before I read a book, I don't feel as disappointed in it as when I read a book and then watch a movie. Anyhow, this book differs in many ways from its movie counterpart. Good, but like most young adult books of that era totally forgettable
Rating: Summary: MY FAV BOOK OF ALL TIMES Review: THIS IS THE BEST BOOK WRITTEN BY LOIS DUNCAN. THIS BOOK IS SO INTERESTING AND YOU REALLY RELATE TO THE CHARATERS. WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS BOOK IS THE PSYCOLOGY THAT GOES WITH IT, ESPECIALLY WITH DAVID, YOU REALLY WONDER ABOUT THAT CHARACTER AND WHY HE DOES THE THINGS HE DOES. I REALLY RECOMMENED THIS BOOK IT IS JUST FULL OF THINKING.

Rating: Summary: The Excitment of the book "Killing Mr. Griffin" Review: I thingk that this book was very well written. I think that Lois Dunkin is a great mystery wrighter. All of the books i've read by her i've loved. The book Killing Mr.Griffin was deffenetly a Thriller, There were parts in the book that gave me the goosebumps. I liked the book because it was very exciting, I like the way that Lois Dunkin kind of gets you wondering what happends next. For example when Mark Finds out that David's grandmother has Mr.Griffin's Ring, Mark dosn't think twice about killing her,and I thought that Mark was inisont and sweet. I think that the ending could have been better, I didn't really like it because it kind of leaves you hang with a lot of questions.Like what Happend to Betsy Kline and Jeff?,how did the trial go with all the students?, What happend to David, did he ever find out that his best friend killed his Gandmother?, And how did Miss.Griffin React when she found out that they all killed Mr.Griffin? But other than that the book was one of my favirots!
Rating: Summary: A Gripping Tale Review: Killing Mr. Griffin is a story about five kids who just wanted to teach their strict english teacher a lesson and get him to be easier on his students. They had just wanted to kidnap him and scare him a little. However, things didnt go like they planned and Mr. Griffin had ended up dead. Of course they hadn't meant for anything like that to happen, so the kids in a panic did all sorts of things to cover up what they had done, but had just got themselves into deeper trouble than they were in before. With all their work though, they had left one small detail and someone...was going to piece everything together. If you want to find out how the kids got themselves out of this mess....or if they got out of it at all, read this book! I thought Killing Mr. Griffin was a very good suspense story that will more than likely keep you at the edge of your seat. However, like in many stories the plot was good, yet you just couldnt connect with the characters and how they were feeling. That was how I felt when I read this story, but other than that I really liked how Lois Duncan had made everything happen. Also, I realized that this book is on the banned book list, but I don't understand why it would be. Though the book does have a bit of cursing and violence, there are also good things about it. Like for example, how it shows if you do something bad you can't hide from it, it'll catch up with you sooner or later. In the end, I would definitely recommend this book to fans of suspense stories.

I advise everyone to read this book they say it is banned but i do not know why because there is nothing wrong with the book. Every high school and middle school student should read this book because it teaches them that even the best laid plains can go wrong no matter who you are.

Rating: Summary: A Five Star Book!(and well worth it) Review: It all starts when a former college professor turns to highschool teaching. He is rather strict with his students, which makes many of his students dislike him. He teaches an advanced course, so mostly seniors are in it for college credits. Although, there is one junior named Susan McConnell in Mr. Griffin's class. Mr. Griffin won't tell anyone except his wife, but he thinks Susan is one of the best, if not, the best student in his class. He fears telling her that because he believes her work will get sloppy and she will think she can slide right through the course. Susan has a crush on a handsome senior named David Ruggles. This gets her into trouble. A few of David's friends think it would be funny if they played a joke on Mr. Griffin. So, David, Jeff Garrett, Mark Kinney, and Betsy Cline decide to kidnap him and teach him a lesson. They decide they could use Susan to lure Mr. Griffin into their trap, when Susan starts to lure him, Mr. Griffin tells her how much he appreciates her as a student and her work. Susan feels guilty, but its too late. All they wanted to do is teach him a lesson, they never wanted to kill him. I would recommend this book to people from the ages 13 and up. In my opinion, I do not believe that this book is appropriate for children younger, because even I cried when I read it. This book is especially good for teenagers who think they have problem teachers, and would like an answer to some questions about how teachers really think. This book may not be appropriate, however, for people who cannot stand a little devastation and fear. Lastly, I would recommend this book to people who like mystery, suspense, and horror.
Rating: Summary: Susan Review: Killing Mr. Griffin was a well-written book. I refused to set the book down during the last seven chapters. Lois Duncan is a talented mystery author. She has a distinct style of describing what she writes about. Utilizing her intense imagery, the suspense and mystery was captivating and real. It was difficult to predict the outcome of the situations. The two major conflicts that occurred in the storyline offered an exciting twang. The most thrilling portion of the book is when the conflicts collide at the climax. As ironic as it may sound, you never forget the strict, austere teachers in your life. They loom in your memory for eternity. I realize that you should be cautious on what you plan to do to your harsh English teacher. Your plan may not go as well as intended and may backfire. In the end, they deeply regretted their decision. I now realize that you shouldn't act on impulse. The only thing I disliked was the ending. It was not what I expected. Yet, if the ending were changed, then the story would not exist. With the assortment of diverse teens plotting against their teacher, the reader is bound to relate to one of the students. In doing so, I related myself with the goody- goody and placed myself in the story. I found myself reacting and making similar decisions as Susan. What character are you? On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best), I would rate this book with a 4. I would recommend this book to teens who enjoy suspense and a thrilling mystery.
