Rating: Summary: An excellent addition the the chronicles of the vampires!! Review: Classic Ann Rice. She has a wonderful way of transporting the reader into the world between the pages. You feel, smell, hear, taste, and see the wonders described within. The story keeps you on the edge and as always yearning for more.. It ended to soon for me. I look foward to the next adventure.
Rating: Summary: Pandora was well worth the wait. Review: I'm only a sometime fan of Anne Rice but certain characters capture the imagination and that is Pandora. This book held my attention and to have vampire history explained by a female narrator was most entertaining. This book explains the making of Marius and the first finding of the Queen Akasha, before Lestat. My favorite Rice novels are Pandora, Queen of the Damned, and the Vampire Lestat!
Rating: Summary: ANNE RICE IS TEASING ALL OF US Review: Pandora was a good book..no doubt about that. It just didn't live up to the other ones. So I cannot respectivly give it a ten...we all know she can do better.Still, she excels so many other authors. This book is like a small sampling of what she can give..it tempts us and leaves us wanting more.It didn't satisfy my craving for her seductive writing..a sure garuntee that I will be the first in line for ARMAND. It is sad, but true..the age old philosiphy of leaving the audience wanting more. What suckers we are to be lured in!! And still we love her! I think we like to be teased!
Rating: Summary: Prequel to Anne Rice's vampire family. Review: This novel gives one the prequel information relating to how Anne Rice's vampire family came about. Unfortunately, it seemed to drag in places for me and by the time my interest was as captured as Pandora's was in the 'blood sacrifices', the book was almost read. It definitely picked up for the last quarter of the book but I was used to having the 'vampires' grab me by the throat from page 1 and that did not happen in this book. Your interest is captured enough by the end that you are left with wanting additional sequels and the knowledge that they are forthcoming is satisfying. I do wish, however, that the sequels dwell more on the disturbing aspects of these characters and their initiations into the vampire family instead of their mundane existences prior to that time. I think this book would be most enjoyed by those who are already familiar with Marius, Lestat, Armand, etc., and relative newcomers to their storylines might become lost in the background noise and not enjoy the intended presence of the story.
Rating: Summary: Can't wait for the sequel! Review: I am someone who personally LOVED the Vampire Chronicles, and I must admit that this is her best one up to date. I love the eras mentioned and the details put into each one, it shows how she must have done some research into the subject before writing it. Also, I loved the idea of it being a female vampire because it gave you more insight into the emotions of both male vampires (the Vampire Lestat) and females (Pandora). I would recommend it to anyone who loves to read a good book in a nice bath. Definitely a page turner
Rating: Summary: Finally, the Rice we knew returns Review: At long last, the world of the erotic, inviting, nearly human, flawed vampires returns in full force. Rice delivers a novel that I found nearly physically impossible to separate from my hands. Like her other works, this drips with details, the essential nits and senses that make her work worth reading. While the book doesn't centralize around everyone's favorite bloodsucker, Lestat, we do get to fill in some of the gaps of the history of the vampiric family, and of Lestat himself. Not the most fast paced of the novels, but one of the best. Warning to newbies: read _Queen of the Damned_ first, or you will be lost on several important points. All in all, this is her finest work since Queen, and you won't be disappointed. Now, we only have to wait for the next novel.
Rating: Summary: WOW Review: Anne Rice has outdone herself this time. As a huge fan I must say that this is one of the most thrilling, exciting and compelling novels to date. Pandora is excellent. I admire this character in ways that could never apply to Lestat. Pandora comands the audience, her power is felt and it outshines Lestat. He has been upstaged. This story is one of love, strength and courage of no other magnitude found in the previous books of the vampire chronicles. I discover once again why I so love Anne Rice's work. I say, Let Lestat pass now from fiction into legend and let the others bask in their new found glory. This is a must read for any Rice fan.
Rating: Summary: Anne Rice, the real Queen of the Vampires is back at last!! Review: This was the best vampire chronicle since The Tale of the Body Thief! Pandora is a strong character with a lot of depth to her and I adored her tale of how she came to love Marius at the age of 10 in her mortal life, only to be destined to be his vampire lover years later. There was marvelous descriptions of Rome, which I adored. I loved the relationship between Pandora and Marius, but I only wish that Rice could have described their 200 years together in more depth than she did. I cannot wait for The Vampire Armand! Anyone who wants to talk Anne Rice can e-mail me!
Rating: Summary: We're So Hungry for Vampire Chronicles, Even This is Great Review: Rated 10 with a caveat. I thought it was engaging, imaginative and evocative of the early chronicles. I devoured the book in no time at all as it had been so long since Ms. Rice had written a story reminiscent of "Interview." The key word is "close." Although I clearly enjoyed it, I was left feeling a little empty reflecting back on the two-dimensional characterization of Marius and Pandora. I would have enjoyed hearing more of Pandora's life after Marius. The staging of the book was ratherquirky. I thought it was somewhat odd that Ms. Rice dwelt so long on the development of Flavius, a relatively minor character, (esp. the scene where Pandora haggles for him), yet breezed over other areas of the story critical to better understanding Pandora and/or Marius.
Rating: Summary: You must read this book! Review: I love all of Anne's Vampire Chronicle's, and Pandora was no exception. Pandora is a wonderful and interesting character. I like her eccentric attitude and views toward everything. I hope I get to learn more about her in future books. Also, now I find Marius much more interesting (not that I did not like him before.) This book is a must for any Anne Rice lover. I can not wait for Armand!
