Summary: Very hard to put down.
Review: From page one to the very last page you are totally engrossed in the story. I couldn't put it down. Pandora is a very interesting character. I have read all The Vampire Chronicles. I am really looking forward to The Vampire Armand.

Summary: The spell was too short.
Review: I was still hungry after I read the book. Anne Rice seems to have served the meal, but forgot the dessert. It was satisying, but not enough. And what of Marius? I love Armand, but Marius should be the next story. Perhaps, she is saving the best for last...Annyway, Mrs. Rice, your creativity continues to be inspiring...may it be as immortal as your vampires!

Summary: Things are looking better!
Review: I picked it up, remembering Violin I put it back down. Then I picked it up again, paid really fast, and raced home like hell wouldn't have it. Even though Pandora was not one of my favorite characters, I read the whole book on a three-hour flight. Not her best book by a long shot. If you've invested a lot of time reading and re-reading the Vampire Chronicles, you won't want to miss this.

Summary: On the right track but a tad too slow
Review: Anne Rice's Pandora was an interesting revival of the vampire theme, especially after her recent novels which seemed to exclude all mention of them. Unfortunately, it was lacking the richness of Anne's writing which I have enjoyed over the years. Perhaps if it was longer and more in depth I would have been able to rate it higher. I also realize not every novel is going to be a great one; and that's life in general.

Summary: The Vamp Chronicles are back!
Review: Yay, I thought Anne was finished writing anymore Vamp Chronicles. From the very first word, this book had me in it's grip to the very end. I was mesmerized and enlightened on the history of the vampires with this story. Pandora sounded so real that I expected to really find her sitting at a table along a sidewalk cafe writing in a leather-bound journal...I can't WAIT for the next book to come out!!!

Summary: Wow! What a story!
Review: I just finished the book, and I just want to say that this novel compares to all of her other novels. Wonderful imagery! Anne is a brilliant story teller. The way Marius and Pandora interactive was wonderful. I wish there would have been more of it. Perhaps, too much time was spent on Pandora's past. However, it worked very well to develop the character and to make us care about what happened to her. Maybe too much history, although I appreciate what she was trying to do. It did get drawn out too much. Anyway, a tremendous read, and for anyone that thinks Anne is slipping, check out the way she describes Pandora's taking of a victim in front of David on the bridge in the first chapter. Wow!

Summary: My Eyes Glaze Over
Review: In Pandora Anne Rice's recipe for Instant Vampire Novella reads: "Shred the content page of a high school World History syllabus with a dash of vampire lore. Add blood and chop till a loose mixture is formed." What ever happened to those incredible dream-like peeks into other worlds that flowed from Anne's pen? Her uncanny voice for character and description seem to be vanishing faster than her bank balance can grow. Clearly Anne's readers will put up with anything from her in hopes that we may once again revel in her past glories. But enough is enough! Fans like me, hungry for more carefully crafted vampire tales & excited at the prospect of a fully researched romp through ancient times, would be well advised to give Pandora a miss. Besides, we can all wait and skim the sure-to-be-published compendium of vampire novellas, when it becomes availabe at the local library sometime in 2010. I think it's time that Anne's public, to whom her door has long been open, began to speak to her in dollar signs. Didn't we all seen this coming halfway through "The Queen of the Damned?" Cassiodorus, indeed!

Summary: Slow beginning - excellent after first 10-15 pages!
Review: As usual, Anne Rice is spell binding with her sense of place and time in history. After a slow beginning, this novel proves to be a delicious beginning to a new Vampire saga!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: BRAVO!!!! BRAVO!!!!! BRAVO!!!!

Summary: Sink Your Teeth Into One of the Other Vampire Chronicles
Review: This novel pales in comparison to the other Vampire Chronicles. With many references to her other works, I get the impression that Anne Rice is tempting the reader to go pick up her other novels as well...and I must admit that it worked- I did go buy "Memnoch the Devil" after reading this novel, and found that I got more for my money (but that's another review!)

I found the Roman setting very intriguing, but the story seemed to lack the usual atmoshere that the other vampire chronicles exuded. Also, the characters did not seem as well-developed. This felt more like a short story in comparison to her other works.

The book was enjoyable, but my suggestion is to wait for it to come in paperback...I know that I wish I had.
