Summary: Dark yet beautiful. like an angel with raven black wings.
Review: Anne Rice has done it yet again. The first book i ever read from her was Cry to Heaven. i was 9 years old. i was hooked. the way she wrote her stories, man, you feel like your there, in that place and time, watching this story unfold before your eyes. Since then, i've read The Vampire Lestat, seen the movie version of Interview With the Vampire, and just finished reading Pandora. It's an amazing book, worthy of 10 stars. Anne Rice is one of a handful of authors i can honestly say that about. If you haven't read this book, well, get this book, and start reading. believe me, you'll be glad you did.

Summary: The same old deep vampire thoughts
Review: I was very excited when I heard that Rice was restarting the Vampire Chronicles. In the previous incarnation male vampires seem to rule the roost. But in Pandora Rice's introduces us to a strong free, willed vampire named Pandora. Pandora reflects on her life from a daughter of a Roman politician to the lover of Marius. At times Rice bogs down the story with too many colorful details of Roman life. I do not want to give too much of the story away but let's just say Rice rehashs the same age old vampire's questions: "What is the meaning of life ? " and "Where can I find a good meal ?"

Summary: NOT LONG ENOUGH. LEFT YOU WANTING MORE.
Review: SHE WROTE FIVE BOOKS ABOUT LESTAT, SHE SURELY COULD HAVE WRITTEN A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THIS INTRIGUING CHARACTER.

Summary: Yet again, Anne Rice shines as the ultimate vampire novelist
Review: If anyone has read any of Mrs. Rice's novels, they are fully aware of how captivating her books can be. At times her new book "Pandora" is just every bit as enthralling, though every now and then "Pandora" seemes rushed and cut short from the truly wonderful masterpiece it could have been. On the other hand, I believe this book will suppress the inexplicable hungering void that Anne Rice so horribly left for her devoted fans. Honestly after the novel "Memnoch the Devil" I thought Anne was done with continuing the Vampire Chronicles, but "Pandora" is definitely a welcomed new edition to the club. In "Pandora" Mrs. Rice goes back into time during Ancient Rome. Mrs. Rice sets the story up to be the auto-biography of the vampire Pandora, whom first appeared as just a name in the book "The Vampire Lestat". The story is initiated at the request of the young fledgeling vampire David Talbot. As the story unfolds, young mortal Pandora the only daughter of a powerful Roman Senator, discovers she is an independant woman. Then not too easly fooled when accused of betraying her family, she is thrust into a new land and new concept of life in the ancient city of Antioch. Where she finds love, religion, and that oh so wonderful Dark Gift every Anne Rice devotee would "die for". For those of you who have not read any of the other chronicles, you need not to, to understand "Pandora". In fact if you have not read any of the other chronicle books, "Pandora" is still an intruiging book and will leave you thirsting for more and more. Buy them all, read them and then read them again, trust me...also..Get ready for another installment with the book of Armand coming soon!!

Summary: Rice has done it again!!
Review: I enjoyed this book as much as the rest of the series. I wished for so long that Anne Rice would continue her Vampire Series. If you enjoyed reading into the lives of the other vampires in the other books, then you won't be disappointed by this book. Pandora is an interesting character who takes you back to ancient Rome. I bought this book to read over the summer and I finished it in less than two weeks. I would recommend it to anyone who truly loves Anne Rice's Vampires.

Summary: Not what I expected
Review: After reading all the hype about Anne Rice returning to the style of writing seen in The Vampire L'Estat novels, I must admit I was expecting more than what I got from this novel. Parts of Pandora's history (from childhood to adult) were interesting but after awhile I was ready to move on--unfortunately, Ms. Rice was not. Around the time Pandora was made into a Vampire, the story picked up a little but not much. The characters didn't have the depth I expected, nor was the story as compelling as I would have liked. The story did have its good points, but I must admit, I finished it only because I was listening to it on audiotape (unabridged version) and at times, even that was a struggle.

Summary: Demoted to paper back
Review: I was an avid reader of Anne Rice and have most of her books in Hardback. For me all her books were page turners I couldn't put them down. Like Servant of the Bones, which I never finished I'm having trouble just trying to finish the next chapter of Pandora. It doesn't seem to grab me and hold me like her other vampire series. I'm not sure what it is, but there's no excitement in reading Pandora. I'm going to try and finish it. But Anne Rice has been regulated to paperback for me.

Summary: not so good as the Vampire Chronicles
Review: Pandora is much better reading then Violin or Memnoch but still not so exciting as Lestat or the Queen of the damned... The novel is too short and it does not go deep enough into the character's soul . I am half way through the novel and I do not know what will happen to Flavius yet...I hope we will read about him again..

Summary: Similar Story, Different Perspective
Review: I put it down for a week after reading the first two chapters, quite sure that I was rereading "interview with the vampire" from a woman's point of view. This seems to be a trend in recent literature, to re-write stories we already know...but from a woman's perspective. Anyway, after much thought about how satisfactory the experience has been reading Ms. Rice's other books, I went back to it, finished it, and am now anxiously awaiting the next installment (we all know there'll be one!).

If you can force yourself to overlook the blatant parallel between "Pandora" and "Louis" you'll find an interesting portrayal of the ancient world and the disturbing implied correlations between the ancient Romans and the Isis worship of the Egyptians. Where does this come from? Is there more to this, or is it a fabrication from the author's wild, if not vivid, imagination? Very intriguing reading...I highly recommend it to all Anne Rice fans, though I would not recommend it as a "first read" (stick with "interview" if you're unfamiliar with the style).

Summary: It was a roller coaster of good parts and bad parts
Review: First of all, I don't think Rice writes female characters well, they always turn out to be sort of sadistic, all alike. With the male characters we have some contrast. The one thing I liked most was Flavius, I would love to hear more about him. The second he came into the story things seemed to pick up, but as soon as he was bought by Pandora he began to lose the specialness of his character, he became a loyal slave/friend with little to say except "Yes", "It will be done", or "I am/was worried about you. I hope in future books he regains that brightness that makes him interesting. I got lost in the history on this one, it sort of side tracked me. It also seemed like it was going somewher towards the end and then there was a quick closing, it shouldn't have ended there. To sum it up, I liked most everything in the book EXCEPT Pandora. She was the same character as many of Rice's other female characters (Cleopatra, Claudia, ECT.). If she is going to write about a female character I say make her different, I suggest Maharet. And I am impatiently awaiting The Vampire Armand, one of my most favorite characters. Despite this books downfalls, it was nice to have a break from Lestat but I miss him, and I would like to get a break from immortality sometime soon. Lets have a human's point of view! I really like the different point of views on things, keep it up!
