Summary: I really enjoyed Pandora.
Review: Pandora was a fine entry into the Vampire Cronicles (although it is called "New Tales of the Vampires"). I am a little behind and so I haven't yet read Armand, but I am already excited for next spring and the release of Rice's next book, "Vitorrio the Vampire." Pandora was a Roman history, a love story, and a horror stroy all wrapped into one. Rice has a sensual style and I adore her vampire work, but I only wish she would have not had so much religion involved. That is what kept this from being one of her best books. It is still a quick read and worth the time and effort.

Summary: Beautiful, Rich, as usual, Anne Rice writes an amazing book
Review: "Pandora" is a great book. At first, Pandora is reluctant to write her biography, but with the encouraging of David, her life begins to flow onto the page with ease. She talks about he childhood during the begining of the Roman Empire, and when she first met Marius, and of her families betrayal and murder. She escapes to Antioch where she meets up with Marius and becomes a vampire. I don't want to give up the entire thing, so I will leave here with one more thing to say, buy this book!!!

Summary: Pandora is an amazingly unique approach to Vampire mythology
Review: I'm almost 16 and have been reading vampire books since I was about 8 or 9. I like Rice's style because it is so clear and realistic, and she makes the vampires extremely believable. Some of the images and explanations used in the book really hit home with me. The story constantly had me feeling of deja vu. Besides, it's such a beautiful, though often sad story. Pandora's life , death, and rebirth as a new, marvelous creature is one of the best stories I have ever read. Believe me, I've read a lot of vampire books, and this is not one to be missed. You can actually see through a vampire's eyes with this book, and it's breathtaking. You really should try it!(: Love eternally, Raquel

Summary: Whatever happened?
Review: Anne Rice swept me away with her first two novels in the Vampire Chronicle series, but with the introduction of Queen of the Damned and Tale of the Body Theif, I knew something was beginning to slip. Memnoch the Devil was a complete falling away from what the Chronicles once was, but I had hope with the release of Pandora. Disappointingly, this book's primary focus was Pandora's mortal life and not her trials as a vampire. Although the history of her life as well as the greco-roman imagery and history is stunning and fascinating, this is not a vampiric book.

Summary: Can Pandora overstep Lestat?
Review: When Lestat took a step backwards and stopped telling his stories, a gap opened inside all of us: we had lost our anti-hero and enchanted recounter. Many of us thought that vampires were no longer a topic in Anne Rice's mind. We got wrong. She is back with another series of vampire books and this time she starts with Pandora, Marius's beloved. Pandora starts her tale addressing to David Talbot, Lestat's fledgling and now chronicler of the Undead. She spills her story centered among the streets of Rome where she was conceived, from where she later would depart due to menace of assassination. And so she dwells in anecdotes and words about what her life has been like as well as how she got to meet Marius. The story is very good and is spiced with historical information (maybe a couple of things made up) that may appeal to those who like books dealing with scenarios of the past. Although the book can make a way of its own, it lacks some qualities that keeps it from being excellent: the lack of wild adventures and the grace of the recounting that we were so used to in previous releases, for instance. In her first try, Pandora does well, but her lack of grace and authentic passion make me weighed the balance on Lestat's side.

Summary: THIS BOOK IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I loved, loved, loved this book! I felt like I was there with Pandora. I hope there will be more books about her in the future. Flavius was another character I loved and he also deserves his own book. A must-read for Anne Rice fans!

Summary: A must read for Anne Rice Fans !
Review: This book, is one of the best that Anne Rice has written. In it, the main character ( Pandora ) is telling us in the first person who she was, her family and the history of the Roman Empire. Also was see the beginnings of the other classicsthat she is known for.

This book is a must read for both Anne Rice fans and for history students. for this book will pull you in and not let you go till the last page.

Summary: The book was good.
Review: The book was good...the only thing it lacked was more about Flavius. This character was wonderful! When Anne was writing about him my eyes moved over the paper as fast as they could...He was sweet and smart, and he was so loyal...thats what made it unbelivable when he left her after she made him a vampire. we were supposed to believe he just left after serveing her and Marius for so long? I want to know more about him. What was the reason he left in such a hurry after he had protected Pandora for his mortal life. Please Anne, give us more on this wonderful character. He's brilliant. Thanks.

Summary: Anne Rice leaves you thirsty for more.
Review: I absolutley loved this book. The characters are so real. I ended up loveing Pandora like a sister, although my fav. character was Flavius. I wish there would have been more of him in the story. I want to know all about him!

Summary: Enjoyable read, would have prefered less religion
Review: Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors, yet I've been so disapointed with her most recent novels that I was actually putting off reading "Pandora" for fear that it would be another disapointment. (I couldn't even finish Violin.) I'm happy to say that I enjoyed it! While it still isn't as riveting as her earlier works, the characters seemed very much alive and the descriptions of early Rome were interesting. In some ways the book reads more like a historical novel than a vampire chronicle, but that didn't bother me. The only parts that were slow were the parts that dealt with religion. (What is it with all the religious philosophizing in her recent books?) Anyway, if you've been putting off reading "Pandora" for the same reasons that I had, I'd recommend it.
