Review: Yet the same Vampire wrapped up in a different coffin. This is a sad and tragic state of affairs. When will Anne rice let the Vampires of the Chronicles live immortally instead of treating each and every one as a member of the Vampiric Beverly Hills 90210 club. This Book is pure soap opera written by the real blood sucker who will not leave the characters alone. I salute Anne Rice for 'Interview','Lestat' & 'Queen', but enough is enough after that. Show some respect and wisdom 'Anne'!, you were Genious enough to create the first three but less is more. So why did I read this book 'Pandora'? out of duty I guess, certainly not for passion or enjoyment. This book is like the rolling stones greatest hits album, you like the stuff in it but you've heard it all before on the real original albums. Lastly, I remember back in 1986 when I heard Sting's first solo Album. This album got me hooked onto the Chronicles due to one of the songs on the album called 'Moon Over Burbon Street'. There was another song on the album with words of great wisdom. The words went 'if you love somebody...set them free. If you want to keep something precious...lock it up and throw away the key'. Anne Rice has done the exactly the opposite. Sadly. Where is your Vampiric passion and courage.Keith Wynne

Review: I am very pleased with this work from my beloved Anne. It draws many a framework around the questions that Lestat left unanswered. We have to remember how the old Queen Akasha works. She was evil and that is all she knew about life, mortal and immortal. Pandora was thrown about in some of the previous tales of the Vampires. She was supposedly a reincarnated immortal that was seeing visions of her past life when she came begging to marius to make her into a vampire once more. This book gives the real truth to that and I feel describes the queen even more than in Queen of the Damned. Which more a book about Lestat's growing from a fledgling into a real immortal child of the millenium. This is an excellent book and leaves much room to work on future tales of other vampires. I have never been so wrapped into a series of novels by any other author and I appreciate all the great work that Anne Rice puts into these stories. All the people that hiss and boo this book are just wanting another gory Stephen King book to make a movie out of. If that is what you want then I suggest that you go and read some of his over glamorized books and cry about those when you return to Rice's future writings. Thank you Anne for all of your time given to us fans. I hope that people will grow up and realize how wonderful that this book is and appreciate it for all that it is. Summary: Where is the Anne Rice I knew???
Review: In the past I have been absolutely enthralled by the works of Anne Rice. I've read all of the previous installments of the Vampire Chronicles with intense anticipation of the next chapter and a desire for the story to never end. Pandora was far from what I expected. If it were my first experience with Anne Rice's works, I frankly wouldn't spend my money on another. Her previous vampire novels all had such passion and excitement and I found this one boring. The story can be summed up in several sentences. Again I ask, where is the Anne Rice I knew????

Summary: Oh, if only there was more!
Review: I am somewhat of an Roman History junky, so my opinion of this work will be somewhat biased. This book satisfied my thirst for Roman History as well as my desire to delve deeper into the fascinating background of Marius and Pandora. It was hardly perfect, however. It seems that in her neverending pursuit of the dollar Rice has realized that no matter how little effort she puts into a work it will still fly off the shelves. The result was a book that was far too short. I'm sure it will be a disappointment to some that Pandora is only a Vampire in the last fifth or so of the book, and although many might disagree, I personally found the account of the decline of the Roman Empire and the rise of Christianity absolutely fascinating. If Rice could have expanded upon some of these stories the book would have been much more satisfying. And why is Lestat the only Vampire who goes into the ground every couple of hundred years? I thought they all did that periodically. This was a wonderful work, a great departure from the rest of the series. However, it very much failed to reach its potential.

Review: when I saw the movie "Interview with the vampire" I forgot Stephen King a little and decided to read Anne Rice. My first book of course was the interview, after that I read "vampire Lestat" and now I finished "Pandora". Although the history of her life during the greco-roman history is fascinating and catches your attencion, the book lacks some points that keeps it from being good. As you are reading you can feel that the history is growing, but from the middle to the end it loses the grip and the book ends "cold". I'm coming back to Stephen King's books !

Summary: Absolutely Fantastic!!
Review: From the first moment I picked up this book, I was mesmerised. I didn't put it down until it was finished. It's nice to have the full-story of how her mortal life was and how things changed once given the "dark gift". I would like to know more about Marius and his past, present and future. What happened to him after Antioch for 100 years. He's the kind of character you instantly fall in love with. I haven't seen that since Ashlar in Taltos. I hope there will be a book on Flavius as well. He had a very limited role, but maybe that is Anne's way of setting his character up for a new book. this is definately a must-read!

Review: the story of the Vampire keeps taking on new dimensions as Rice expands the circle and lets us know those we met through the earlier chronicles.. I read "Pandora" in one rainy evening off. I just couldn't put her down.

Summary: Falling short of the others, yet still enjoyable...
Review: As your typical avid reader, I tend to cling to a few authors, one of which is Anne Rice. Having read nearly all her works, I must say that Pandora truly falls short. It was enjoyable to read, but rather linear. However, I still recommend reading it for anyone who loves her past novels, as it ties up a few of the loose ends about Marius.

Summary: Excellent prose descriptions of life in Ancient Rome.
Review: Pandora, one of the oldest vampires in the Rice saga, is very articulate. After a rather slow beginning of how she has come to write her story we get into the story itself. It is extremely well-written and I enjoyed it immensely. We not only learn about Ancient Rome, but we also discoover a more in-depth picture of Marius, her maker (and one of my favorites!). Lestat, Rice's protagonist for the last three novels, does not show himself at all in this novel. He is absent from the plot, so, if he is your main priority, skip this one. I do suggest that you read the book, however, because you will learn from it.
