Rating: Summary: Wild and Twisted Review: Frank Pollard is terrified. Someone or something is after him and he has no idea why. He has lost his memory. Bobby and Julie Dakota are a husband and wife private eye team who decide to help Frank find out who he is and who is after him. But as Bobby and Julie uncover more information the more bizarre the case becomes until the unimaginable truth comes out. This story is typical Dean Koontz. The characters are deep and well written, the action is fast paced, and the climax is full of twists and turns. This story is more bizarre and twisted than some of his others, but strangely entertaining nonetheless.
Rating: Summary: this book was crazy (in a good way though) Review: I thought that this book was great. not really scary but still good. This was the first book of his that i've ever read so i can't compare it to any of his other books. I recomend it to anyone that likes a good horror/sci-fi/mystery book.
Rating: Summary: A Bad Place...A Worse Book Review: This book was just plain bad. It dragged, had huge gaps, and was painful to read. I've read a couple other Koontz novels and they weren't as bad as this, but they too suffered from many problems .The 2 books, Tick tock, and Dragon tears were the exact same story with different characters! And yes, The Bad Place has basically the same story told yet again, and not well. The book actually got readable near the end, but by that point I already disliked it, a lot. The main offenders in this book were the two main characters, Bobby and Julie Dakota. They were simply annoying. The main character in Tick Tock was alot more believeable, but even then he pick up a sidekick (I forgot her name) who gets on your nerves inside of the first few words after she is introduced. Mr. Koontz, please stop.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: I loved this book, glad I ordered it. I was a little skeptical about ordering books on-line because I like to see what I getting. I've been a Dean Koontz fan for years and I feel it is very safe to say that he has out done himself once again with " The Bad Place" this book is packed full of mystery and surprises, a reader will certainly go WOW!...How is that possible? I have passed this book on to two other "Koontz" fans and would definately read it again myself. Thanks Mr. Koontz for helping my imagination sore to new heights once again.
Rating: Summary: A Horrible Insult to my intelligence Review: I always heard wonderful things about Dean Koontz books, so I went out and bought two. I read through this one in about 3 days and although it held my attention, the characters and the plot were very predictable. He always uses the same type of characters in his stories that are so perfect they couldn't possibly be believable. He also uses the same theme of pyscho related problems in which there is a fear involved that needs a hypnotist to solve. I'm just incredibly bored with his simplistic eighth grade writing and predictable themes. I'm sorry, Mr. Koontz, but neither of the books I read were worth raving about.
Rating: Summary: Koontz is superfluous but GOOD Review: Koontz irritates me sometimes because he is really wordy, especially in chapter intros. Doesn't mean he's not good, though. This book in particular is a KEEPER. It scared me, made me cry and made me MAD at the bad guy. And the bad guy was really, really bad. Koontz, like King, has an eerie knack of illustrating sick, magical psychosis...and I love it. I would recommend this book, especially if you are a Koontz fan. If you are NOT, but are a horror fan, or are looking for scary intrigue with a hint of demonic eeeeevil...then order this book. It's quite good...really! Smooches!
Rating: Summary: What a bizzare book! Review: I read this book quite some time ago but it has sure stuck with me. The dialogue between Bobby and his wife is fantastic. This book also has one of the most bizzarely cool villans ever! Read this book and you will never look at drugs and pregnancy without shuddering again
Rating: Summary: Koontz's Klassic-Thoroughly entertaining Review: Howdy Folks. Well, I've reread most of this book recently, seeing how it is my favorite Koontz book and all, and I'm almost as impressed w/ it now as i was the 1st time through. Bobby and Julie Dakota are definitely, beyond the shadow of a doubt my fav koontz protagonists. as for the story...it's scifi, horror, suspense, mystery, comedy, and romance. This mixture of genres makes this novel a bit seminal, I think. There's a film called DARK CITY which its director, Alex Proyas, said was his attempt to create a film that's a hybrid of the SCIFI and MYSTERY genres. That's almost EXACTLY what koontz does w/ this book. Makes me wonder if DArk City's director/writer Proyas has read this novel. those who have seen the film will know what i mean. Anyway, this novel is sheer delight. Koontz has never done better, although i have liked nearly all of them. Kontgrants, Koontz, for a great novel!
Rating: Summary: one of my favorite Koontz books Review: The Bad Place, and Strangers are my two favorite Koontz books. In The Bad Place, Koontz is able to get bizarre and still pull you in with dazzling suspense. I agree with another reviewer that the end does seem a bit rushed, but this is still a fantastic story.
Rating: Summary: On the edge of my seat Review: This is a bizarre thriller. It kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through. I couldn't put it down.
