Rating: Summary: ANNE RICE THE QUEEN OF THE MAYFAIR WITCHES! Review: EXCELLENT EXCELLENT BOOK. FILLED WITH EMOTION, FRUSTRATION, ,LUST AND DEEP SECRETS. THIS BOOK DRAWS THE READER INTO THE DEEP DARK MYSTICAL MINDS OF THE CLASSIC MAYFAIR FAMILY. CLASHES, INCEST, AND POSSIBLE TOO OLD OF AN ADULT MALE HAVING A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUNG MONA. WHAT A WONDERFULLY TWISTED YET HYPNOTIC TALE. COOL RICE READING! A MUST READ FOR ANYONE FOLLOWING THE MAYFAIR WITCHES.
Rating: Summary: A fit conclusion to the series... but I hope for a sequel Review: Anne Rice's *Taltos* was an enjoyable read, but did not have as much sustaining suspense as *The Witching Hour* and *Lasher*, the two novels which preceded it. Though I can easily be more sympathetic toward Ashlar than toward Lasher, the former is not as interesting a character as the latter. I appreciated the maturing of both Rowan and Michael as charcters in *Taltos*, and enjoyed the "fleshing out" (so to speak) of Mona's character in this third book. It is difficult to try to imagine any other ending for the Mayfair Witches saga, but this doesn't prevent me from wanting to read more about them!
Rating: Summary: Truly mesmerizing, haunting, story that you can't put down. Review: I was given this book for my birthday. Not knowing who Anne Rice is or that there were books preceeding it, I read it from start to finish without stopping. I was completely mesmerized. The characters where so real; I felt that I was part of the lives of the Mayfair Witches. I was hurled into their lives...I could feel their pain, pleasure, and misery...I cried when they cried...I laughed when they laughed. My only disappointment is that there hasn't been a sequal to Lasher. Bravo, Anne Rice, for your incredible ability to make your characters come alive for all of your fans!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely facinating! Review: Anne Rice is the master of horror and suspence. She has the ability to make one feel a part of the story. I could not put down this book after starting it. She is a master at storytelling, goodbye Stephen King, hello Anne Rice.
Rating: Summary: TOO MUCH OF THE SAME Review: This book is absolute nonsense. I can't believe I made it this far into the series. Anne Rice writes like a broken record! Anne Rice, please retire!
Rating: Summary: I loved this book Review: I loved this book!this is probably the 1st adult book I was exposed to.I'm 10,11 tomarrow,5th grade, but an expireienced reader.Taltos and Interview with a Vampire are the only books of her work I'v read.
Rating: Summary: Rice shouldn't have written this one Review: Its a pitty... a story written by Anne Rice with a happy end ????? Not only that, but I saw it already coming when I had only read 50% of the book. What I also want to say is that I think it is a pitty that the mystery of Lasher, the gost, is broken down to the mystery of a biological being in the book 'Lasher', and that with this book she also demystifies the specie itself : the Taltos. Anyhow, I'm happy that I've read the book (just to have read the whole serie of the Mayfair Witches), but on its own, the book certainly can't reach the level of the other two books
Rating: Summary: dead confusing if you haven't read the first 2 books Review: I think it would have helped to read the first two books, before attempting this (although it was a present). It took me a very long time to absorb the characters--she introduces too many, I think. It was a long time beofre things actually started to make sense, and I could see that it was a good book and that Ann Rice lives up to her reputation, but it requires concentration to read her books (something which I did not know)!! Not a bad read.
Rating: Summary: Taltos review Review: Having just finshed this book, I was impressed yet slightly dissapointed. I have not read the first 2 books although I wish I had. Anne Rice has the power to make you fall in love with anyone, even a monster. It takes knowledge in different areas to write like that. Sometimes I want to know more about that silent Emaleth. I related to Ash's loneliness. Feeling so separate from society sometimes. I usually can't stand love stories because they all seem to be the same. Not this one. Its a mystic fantasy although I would have liked to also know more about the actual witch activities.
Rating: Summary: Amazing! One of the Best! Review: Taltos is the third of the Lives of the Mayfair Witches Trilogy. One of the best,I believe. The Witching Hour was hypnotic, and heavily enthralling. The Lasher novel was a somewhat boring, but the introduction of Mona Mayfair and Lasher's story is essential to the magic of Taltos. The whole story is fiction - but you will believe it. The Mayfairs will become your dearest friends, your close family. Lasher will be your confidante, and you will fall in love with Rice's house at First Street. Like I have, many a night you will probably dream with Julien Mayfair, and other nights try to trace the Mayfair family tree. It is unbelievable how some readers can have such limited imagination to not expand their horizons, and come to fully comprehend this incredibly elaborated story. I, for one, am waiting for a movie. I truly bow at Anne Rice's incredible view and imagination.
