Summary: 700+ Page Rationalization
Review: Bag of Bones breathes life until the fated storm, some two hundred pages before the end of the novel. The culminating pages of the book appear to be King's rationalization for the standard plot twist that leads to the books final events. While the beginning of the novel offers interesting insight on pulp fiction writers and plugging out thick books annually, the ending doesn't cut it. Should have stuck more to Bartleby, and less to the ghosts... try Beloved instead.

Summary: That's more like it, Mr King!
Review: I found this an eagerly-awaited improvement after the poorly written splatterpunk that was "The Regulators", and "Desperation". Perhaps "Bag of Bones" could have benefitted from some editing (particularly in the over-graphic descriptions of the narrator's dreams, which lend little to the plot), but at least King has attempted to draw characters rather than relying on descriptions of gore and goo. This certainly isn't another "Dolores Claibourne", but shows that perhaps King can still write good books after all.

Summary: Not even close
Review: While this book was entertaining, it was so far from some of his prior novels. It was too long. It was relatively scattered. Usually, I loathe when I'm finishing a Stephen King book. This time I could not wait to be finished with it. Oh well...I'll wait for the next one.

Summary: Different for King, but one of his best...
Review: I am a huge fan of Stephen King, and this book is quite different from his usual horror. Although it contains some frightful and gruesome tidbits, this love/ghost story is sweet and suspenseful. Although this sounds like a cliche, I could not put the book down, and I spent many nights knowing I should sleep but wanting to find out what was to happen next. This book really was a nice surprise, for many things I thought were predictable and rather easy to figure out ended up being quite the contrary.

Summary: I really had to push my way through this one
Review: This book left me with a feeling of dissapointment. I had to push my way through the last half of the book. I also found myself skimming throught the pages at times, it seemed as if King kinda went on a tangent of irrelavent issues. I think the idea of the book was great but it would have been ALOT better if you knock out about 300 pages form the 732. The one thing I didn't understand was if the cut on the hand he saw in his dreams of Sarah Laughes had any signifigance to anything. I feel alittle lost on that. If anyone can offer some clues I'd appreciate it alot !!! In general, if you are looking for a ghost story, try something else. But on the other hand it was a good story.... just toooooo long.

Summary: Slow start but hang in there because its worth it!
Review: Bag of Bones at first was as slow as a bag of molases on a cold day! It took me six months to read the first couple hundred pages, but it took me two short days to finish of the last 400 or so. This book takes a twist that you will never expect.

Summary: He's won me back.
Review: Years ago Stephen King was "it" for me. I read every book and didn't come up for air between start and finish. But eventually I lost interest in his book, they didn't hold me anymore. Recently I happened to pick up Bag of Bones, and loved it! It's a fantastic story. It hooked me, I lost myself in the story, and, when it ended, I wanted to read it all over again. Now I'm at Amazon.com looking for more. I am once again a Stephen King fan.

Summary: Somewhere in those 732 pages is a very average 350 page book
Review: I have the feeling after reading many of the glowing five star reviews of this book that Steven King could publish a phone directory and many of his avid fans would rush to it's defense. Somewhere I'm sure there was an editor who trying to convince King to cut 300 pages of "filler" - I counted 174 pages devoted to the main characters dreams - 174 pages. Amazingly, in 732 very long pages he still has great difficulty adequately developing his characters. I once considered myself a fan but no longer.

Summary: typical King
Review: Typical King. It contains the usual kernel of a fine novel buriedbeneath an avalanche of words andover-the-top images. It's been asuccessful formula for him, but awaste of talent.

Summary: Wonderful and Creepy in the same breath!
Review: Bag of Bones, is an awsome Stephen King book. I couldn't, and didn't want to put it down. It's so good you don't want it to end.
